This video is the epitome of what it takes to run a successful cow calf operation. Take notes boys and girls because these Sonne boys are extremely good at it.
In humans that IV is called a "banana bag" usually given to the alcoholics and druggies to help with the electrolyte imbalance. Happy to see you made it to your 100th clave.
I don’t normally leave messages like this because I usually like to have a laugh and rib Cole as you know but the weather over here especially in Scotland has been really really bad and lambing season has been brutal (go watch some of the sheep game latest videos to see) so wondered if you and viewers could send up some prayers with me that the weather improves and lambing mortality decreases for these poor farmers working all hours to look after their flocks. Thank you 🙏🏻 xxx
I like the way that you take care of your little calf. He now has a fighting chance. I have respect for you in taking care of all your herd. God bless all of you.
Thanks for another great video Cole and Brian. It was interesting and informative and enjoyable. Cole, glad you did well with the sale of your cattle. You work hard and are most deserving. Good going Cole. Glad the vet could treat that calf while he was there. Hopefully the calf will be feeling better soon. How did the calf come out from last week that seemed to not warm up. Believe you took it to the vet. Hopefully that calf got to doing better and is back with its mom. Sounds like your vet checks went ok and will be breeding them. Congratulations Brian and Cole for the 100th calf born this calfing season. Enjoy your shot of whiskey. Great teamwork Brian and Cole. You both are great herdsmen!!!!!!! About it I guess. Thanks for everything Cole. Take care and be safe. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Long hard days working, endless hours taking care of your cattle, sleepless nights during calving season, and the great feeling of getting a check make it all worth it. Congrats 👏
It's fun to hear your thoughts and stories of growing up and how I can relate to the same thing. You can take the boys off the farm but you can't take the farm outta the boys
Cole and Brian you two are like two in a pod! You care for your animals and go the extra mile for them. You are humane in everything you must do. I love your channel and look forward to it all the time. I missed seeing Ellie , Was she catching some beauty rest?
I really hope no one has EVER accused you of not caring for your livestock, with the time and effort you put into the ones having trouble it's obvious at least to me that you care very much for every one of them. thanks for sharing and helping to educate those of who don't farm livestock for a living :)
Your videos are all great but this one showing the care you have for your animals is awesome . My brother just sold 25 of his black Angus last week and he had a pretty big smile . About time for you guys.
We had viral scours go through the farm 30 years ago. We treated like 350 out of 500 calves. One thing we found showed a good result was crushing half a dozen vitamin c pills in with the electrolytes
Sure hoping that little calf bounces back for you guys. Lucked out that the vet was coming in for that day huh?! You bettcha. 🥰 We had no electricity yesterday due to our delightful 8" of heavy wet snow. Really cold today but in no time, we are supposed to be around 65. I swear, the weather has been so crazy that half our battles keeping the cattle healthy has been against an uncontrollable foe. Hope you guys might get some moisture out of the system we just had but let's pass on the 10 degree temps and 8" of the heavy snow. LOL! Really happy to see the kind of cattle prices you brought in! Congrats friends!
I always enjoy hearing medical information. Keeps my ears perked up! ---I sure hated the spring slush when I had to walk to/from school in ND. When living in Albuquerque, it was negligible after the few big snow storms. My rain ended this morning. Back to pulling weeds tomorrow. Hope this one doesn't impact your area, but it sounds like it'll be another rough one farther south of you folks.---Congrats on the paycheck! I know just how fast it disappears...I just paid to have my house painted, THEN the 40 y/o freezer bit the dust, AND the blower switch went out on the 50 y/o furnace, AND the antifreeze reservoir on my 16 y/o Volvo sprung a leak & I had to rent a car until the new one could be ordered and installed. Phew...all in one week. Looking forward to what's next with you folks.
Great job to Sonne farms good sale day good drink day. Healthy recovery for the calf. Can't wait for the next round of babies. I dear father and son working together 10
Ohhh mannnn you Sonnes show boatloads of patience and compassion for every new angus time turns for all creatures in your operation.. so great teamwork and the cows all cooperate in getting yhru your arrowquip. I have to tell you i searched back on Brians great comments about the blue flapped Pride of the Farms waterer system you put in . Boy did i pay attention. If im ever later in my future with a speck of corrals and quarter or 2 im going with what works in intense cold dakota winters. I could go onand on about how much i get from being a viewer of your poetic style and love of what you do day in and day out **! HAPPY Spring ALL. ~ Alix former,SE North Dakota farm girl.
@@kathyguenther5866 That's how I started to watch this channel....it was Uncle Jeff who first started to put these videos out ..... uncle Jeff is a smart business man.......
Absolutely love uncle Jeff! And when he and Brian are together it’s great. Goodness knows how their mum put up with them I could imagine being quite a handful at times x
Congratulations, those are beautiful looking heifers, I like the little tuft of hair on their heads... Excellent job . For all 3 of you... Nice to see that little one getting on its feet.. 💯
That calf, 435, is a pretty looking calf. Reminds me when I was young, bottle feeding calves that had a hard time starting to nurse. But we always used the milk substitute and put another calf on the cow, so she would not dry up. Never took longer than a week for the calf to start nursing. Hope the calf is a fighter and starts feeling better.
Loved this video. I loved when the vet was getting all the equipment ready for the IV, it brought me back to my days on the IV team at the hospital where I worked. This video again shows how much the Sonne's care for their herd. Loved how Cole was affectionally feeding the calf. Great day for one and all!!!!!!!!!🐄🐄🐮🐮
Cole, I hear ya. I just got a check for hauling some corn into the ethanol plant. I’m going to look at it for exactly 24 hours before depositing it to pay down the operating loan. 😂. Easy come easy go.
Try the product kick start for sick calves. It has worked really good for us. We use the optimizer gel. We heard about it through you. We've been using it for 2 or 3 years now. We are dairy though instead of beef.
Congratulations on the 100th calf praying for the sick calf get well 60years ago I lived on a dairy farm I know and understand when a loss occurs it is hard take care
Congrats on the sale, that should help out, also love the song of the day. I hope the calf keeps improving, sometimes you never know, but with all you've done he should keep getting better. Good luck on all you got going on, thanks for sharing, I hope the rest of your week goes great.
I’ll drink one with ya Brian. I’m a fan of good whiskey and bourbon. Next time I go through Kentucky I’ll grab a bottle and leave it at Storla station next time I pass through South Dakota. You cans have 2. One for me. And one for you. Two Brian’s just spelt different.
I loved every minute of running cattle with my father only if f mom whould of not question the way dad did this or did that , she must have not been listening at breakfast three days prior when he and I looked at each other and knew how we were going to do it with out saying words
Very funny watching you two work! Brian getting swatted by the cows tail and then Cole concern about the Clave stepping on his junk, very humorous. But that mud was a 6 1/2
My wife and I were at the IFA store in Duchesne UT and she asked what all of the green things were. Well after watching your videos I could explain what we were seeing.
Really hope that calf with the scours comes around quickly and will be the one of the few. Im praying that all your cattle bring top dollar and I really am looking forward to ordering some Sonne beef for the holidays. Christmas prime rib from Sonne Farms would be a great gift to us.
Hey Brian Sandi Brock in Canada has sheep and uses a hand milker with suction that seems like it would be really nice for you to use on the cows. Check it out you could contact her to see what sizes they have.
Hey Cole, we’re in Utah but we have two A5 wagyu steers in the freezer, would love to ship you some of it for a swap for some of your prime Somme farms beef this fall. We’ll be buying some of yours to try anyways
Little fella looked like Billy the kid from the green mile when y’all loaded him into the patty wagon. Doped to the gills. I was ready to see him jump and ride on Cole saying “yeeeehaaaaa!”
Another great video. Thanks Cole. Great song, Brian. I am so looking forward to being able to try some of the beef you all have, when would be the earliest time a person could put an order in? I certainly don’t want to miss my chance at getting some!congratulations on a good sale for your steers, and hope that the heifers produce good stock for next year. God bless you both. Appreciate the hard work, lots of things covered this video and entertaining as always!

I hope you guys made some money. You certainly put in a lot of work.. Nothing is easy, but you make it look happy. Don’t stress it’ll all work out.😊
The answer is yes Cole. Anytime Dad asks if ya want another of the dust eraser you say yes!
I thought you bought the hand milker last year to make this job easier. So evident how much you care for your livestock
Great job to Sonne farms good sale day good drink day. Healthy recovery for the calf. Can't wait for the next round of babies.

Yes a lot of the drugs we treat animals with are developed from human drugs... it's totally amazing.

Brain gets face slapped by a messy cow tail. Twice.
Cole: "would holding the tail help?" 😂
Congrats on high prices and much deserved….of course that means the cost of everything ya need to buy will go up too!
Congrats on a 100 guys!!
Was I the only one that saw the Hawk swoop down as dad was picking up the cat 😮
Very funny watching you two work! Brian getting swatted by the cows tail and then Cole concern about the Clave stepping on his junk, very humorous. But that mud was a 6 1/2
With enough green boat paddles Brian could rule the world.
nice check and sale thanks for making the video
Congrats on hitting 100 calves! A lot of work and worry to get there.
I’m sure if you work out the math, paycheck/ # of hrs worked= -$2,000,000 per hour. Thanks to all the farmers for the hard work!
Those are some GOOD looking heifers
