Me and my wife haven't finished BG3 yet (played, like Div2 on split screen) but so far it looks like Divinity2 is winning. Both the story-wise - BG3 feels like a copy of the premise of Div2 (slaves on a ship, crash, need to find a way to remove the collar etc) and mechanics-wise (combat in Div2 was less random, more about positioning and choice of proper tools for the job than dice).
Maybe this will change when we finish the new game and so far it's also great, but still we keep saying that we'd rather play Divinity 3.

I had no idea these games existed! I started playing D&D in the 1970's, which led to me playing computer games like King's Quest in the 80's, then Zelda and the like. When I heard about Baldur's Gate III a while back I bought it, started playing it, and a while into it realised it was something very different - I was blitzing through the map the way you do in most action adventure games - so I stopped and put it down for a while, now that I knew what it was. I started again a few weeks back and it's just the greatest game in history. It's the game I have been looking for since I started playing video games, mostly because I couldn't find people to play D&D with. So, one thing led to another and now I realise there are a whole swag of these games. The point being that, yes, you are right; Baldur's Gate III has definitely got me excited to plat s-some of the others in the genre. I have bought Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and will definitely try Pillars of Eternity and DoS2 at some stage.

Coming from someone who has DMed multiple DnD campaigns IRL, in terms of combat, D:OS2 is better without question. No dice rolls, AP instead of Actions, BAs, and Reactions, more immersive sim-like interactions in combat (being a caster in this is way more interesting than BG3), NO DICE ROLLS, more interesting alchemy and throw-able weapons, NO FUCKING DICE ROLLS, more build variety since the classes don't lock you out of anything...NO FUCKING DICE ROLLS!
It cannot be overstated how nice it is to be able to select an ability or an attack, click a target, and it just hits what you clicked on. Or picking a dialouge option and it just happens. Dice rolls are great when you're in an emergent environment that a bunch of people improvising in a room together creates, but within a video game where that type of improv is not possible, all dice rolls lead to is frustration and save scumming.
So yeah, the production value may have gone up, and the writing is much better, and there are pretty cutscenes...but the moment to moment gameplay? D:OS2 wins every time.

I would put it like this: Baldurs Gate 3 is alot more beginner friendly, mostly due to how streamlined the classes and overall progression is. There are very few choices and heavy decisions when you level up and whatever you pick, you will most likely be fine anyway.
In DOS2, you have alot more depth and decisions to weigh.

    • @khorneflakes2175
      @khorneflakes2175 2 дня назад +1

I don't see this, on normal difficulty you can pick the first companions you meet, build their average vanilla build and beat the game without difficulty in both games.
In tactician/honor the randomness of the DnD system makes it so you have a lot more parameters to take into account, in DOS2 the combos/fight ending moves are certain to hit and can be spammed, i find the moves of the BG3 bosses more threatening too.
Both games give you a metric ton of tools to cheese and build OP characters, DOS2's progression appears easier to read (mostly because of UI and fewer systems than in BG3) every single spell is available for purchase on any character and even the highest form of attack for any class can be obtained with a few skill points invested.
I felt more lost in front of BG3 stats than DOS2 for sure, it was harder to build effective combos between characters i couldn't have my TAV slow half the enemy team and lit their half of the map on fire turn 1 for example, teleports are costly, your stay in play effects can be disrupted, it isn't rare in BG3 to have multiple party members under hard CC for example... i find BG3 much harder than DOS2, especially making builds for honor runs, DOS2 lone wolves made everything look so simple.

  • @Fyuz12
    @Fyuz12 11 месяцев назад +47

Personally, DOS:2 for combat, BG:3 for narrative.
DOS:2’s combat feels more fleshed out and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say it’s going to stay that way, since BG3’s based on 5e. BG3’s combat eventually simplifies to vomiting huge spells/attacks and resting.
In DOS:2, the environmental interaction was more pronounced and it felt much better honestly. It added a layer to combat and varied the builds up quite a bit. The magic/armour system also made CC more interesting, where as in BG3 it’s just RNG whether it works or not and with CC, it really decides the outcome of a lot of fights. Such a crucial tool being gated behind RNG makes it feel so bad.
Narrative wise though, BG3 wins by miles. DOS:2’s story worked to really give that sandbox RPG feel but it was really just made for that. It was kinda shallow in terms of themes and whatever. You could see it wasn’t taking itself seriously but… it was still really meh. The companions too weren’t nearly as interesting as BG3.
Although, BG3 does sacrifice the sandbox elements for linearity in order to have a better storyline. Which is fine since it’s still fairly expansive.
They’re both good in their own ways. I hope that if larian ever does another big CRPG that they’ll combine DOS:2’s combat with what they learned in BG3’s story telling.

Totally agree. From the moment Bg3 was announced people were scared that it would be too much like divinity, but I honestly was one of the few that couldn't get enough divinity in the new Baldurs Gate. Now that I have finished it, I wished they would have taken even more DoS and put it into Baldurs Gate. The combat is just a lot more fun in DoS
I hope that the next game Larian is developing after BG3 is DoS 3 with the same combat that made DoS2 great but the far bigger budget that Bg3 had.

    Divinity Wins, clearly.
Baldurs has better graphics, it's 6 years later, sure. But that's almost it.
A strategy RPG like this has 2 main aspects: the plot/world, and the combat.
Plot/world is debatable. Both have similarities, but I wouldn't say 1 is absolutely better than the other. I still prefer divinity though.
And then there's combat, and Dos2 just destroys BG3 here. It's not even close.
    1) They're both turn based, but Dos has alternate order per team, which means not going into initiative doesn't mean you always go last against hordes of mobs.
    2) The amount of things you can do per turn is limited in each, but it's much much better in Dos. You get 4 points you can use per turn, up to 2 can be carried over into the next turn. These can be used for movement, basic attacks, spells or items. You're forced to evaluate what's worth using points on, and what to use when. Is it worth moving now, or do I attack? Do I wait and give myself a big turn next turn? Meanwhile, BG basically every turn is 1 spell/attack, move a bit. No reason not to. More monotonous, less choices.
    3) There's more viable builds to play around with.
    4) The split between physical and magic armor, with cc immunity until the respective armor is broken, leads to more interesting and complex plans around beating characters. Do my characters all have the same dmg type to get through one armor? Or variety, to deal with different enemies that have more of one type? Meanwhile, BG has random rolls, which often feels bad
    5) Very big thing: rng: having damage ranges is one thing, but having CC and bonus effects just apply or not is really cancer to deal with. A big part of the appeal of a turn based strategy game is carefully planning things out to defeat a difficult enemy. That doesnt work if your entire fight can be decided purely by luck. This even applies to plot events.
    6) Dos2 has the Lone Wolf trait you can choose, basically doubling the strength of your character (6 AP instead of 4 and more stats), if you only have 1 or 2 party members. That means you can actually play as 2. Taking care of the inventories, abilities, leveling, actions, preferences and plots of 4 characters can be a pain. I'm not saying it's worse to have 4, but having the option of 2 is nice.
Overall this translates to divinity combat being more diverse in both builds and combat, engaging regarding strategy, less luck based, more interactive and more satisfying.

      @khorneflakes2175 День назад

I completely disagree BG3 is still in launch state while we're speaking about the definitive edition of DOS2.
BG3 plot is largely superior to DOS2 it's not even in the same realm of storytelling,
      1) Although i'm not sure of the nuances you put forward here i think strict initiative is better, it's literally the reflection of your build as far as reaction time and awareness goes, better display of RPG principles.
      2) This whole paragraph is biased, you can do the exact same thing in BG3, attack, move, cast spells or use items, having different actions locked behind different combat currencies is more tactical (do i jump to position myself better or do i drink a potion or do i shove that guy away from my caster) it's a further compartmentalization of the choices you spoke about. Reporting unspent action points to the next turn doesn't make sense when you consider what the turn base system represents, if you hold still for a few seconds you won't move faster or do more the following few seconds, that could be a cool spell for sure, concentrate this turn to unleash something next turn but as a base game principle it doesn't make much sense.
      3) I don't think that's true, there's more spells, archetypes (classes and subclasses) and items in BG3, both games are easy enough to allow you to play how you want thought.
      4) That's a color and taste discussion, although you seem to be in the minority as far as liking that armor split thing, having mages and warrior fighting against two different parts of the enemy's HP bar is a ridiculous notion, it dictates fights by itself, "oh that guy has a 50 armor and 200 magical armor i guess my mage won't even look at him, time to knock him down with my warrior" there's such better ways to implement this, having everyone be immune to CC is also crazy, like the game tells you we don't care about setup or strategy that much, pump as much damage into the correct target and all is good.
      5) Dice rolls are DnD in a nutshell, i hear that opinion i just don't consider it because it is part of the planning, if your strategy is "either that CC lands or we're dead" you've made countless mistakes up to this point, accounting for randomness and playing around a failed roll is part of DnD's strategy, and it's fun because it makes you go YESSSS when you land something critical and FUUUUUUCK when you played badly and got punished by the dice. I'd rather have a chance my attacks and CC misses than being bluntly prevented from attacking half the enemies and being completely prevented for using any CC for half of the fights...
      6) BG3 has been beaten in honor mode solo, the game gives you so many tools it doesn't need a button "click here to make you character twice as strong" to allow for the lone wolf playthrough, you can play with however many companions you wish, it'll simply get harder rather than being freely compensated for by the game. Currently in a two man team and it's going great, difficult because i don't cheese but doable.
Folks tend to prefer DOS2 because of the armor thing and the ease to build with fewer thinking required.
Folds tend to prefer BG3 because of the story, the game's beauty and it's depth.
After a couple runs of DOS2 i knew all the skills except for maybe some polymorph and crafting skills, after a couple runs of BG3 i still have no clue what the fuck a druid, a warlock, a bard or a ranger can do and know even less about what multiclass to try next and the level split for them. I don't even know what the other subclasses of the classes i played can do, there's a world between a war cleric and a storm cleric.
BG3 has tenfold the success of DOS2 for a reason, the game is in another league of it's own, lore, graphics and mechanics are all superior, DOS2 has some niche aspects that are great but it can't come together as well as the mastercrafted juggernaut that BG3 is.

    • @trafalgarlaw8373
      @trafalgarlaw8373 День назад

@@khorneflakes2175 Lot of things wrong with this.
      0) The sales you mention are not due to superiority. It simply had much more resources and connections.
Divinity 2 was made with 4 million in 2 years from a kickstarter, and 1 year after release it got the definitive edition.
BG3 was made with 100 million in 6 years, with Divinity to build on and DND lore to take. It has almost been a year since then too.
That leaves Bg3 with 3 times the time, 25 times the budget, more to build on, 6 years of technology development regarding programming and graphics plus the MASSIVE publicity it got due to DND and the campaign. Plus, hey, romancing options and sex scenes.
      1) While initiative on every character is more realistic, it's also a pain to have to put it on everyone. I wouldnt say mine is objectively superior ig
      2) Just very wrong. In general, in BG3, you have one action/attack, which is most of your turn. Then you always have your movement, and always a bonus action that usually is kinda meh or nonexistent. Every turn, the category of actions is predetermined 99% of the time. You make an argument for divinity without noticing. For one, the seperation bg3 forces means that you cannot do things like give up movement for an additional action. You never have to make the decision to sacrifice one for the other, because it's not possible. The only exception is sacrificing an action for something like dash, which you will never do in combat. You created this hypothetical where you "have to make a strategic decision" but realistically, this never happens. In divinity you have your resource, and then you have to pick what to use it on. In BG3, aside from the actual choice of action, it's mostly predetermined.
Pushing over points for the next turn just allows for strategic moves. Adds a simple yet satisfying layer you can make. You complain about realism, but it doesn't really help much here. You complain so much about this "realistic" part, yet your whole turn based design is less logical: forced to do one of each category. Realistically, why can i walk 30 feet instead of just shooting again? No reason at all, purely game design. It makes more sense that your character has time and has to choose what to do with it. So don't bring up "realistically in a fight", because yours makes less sense.
      3) Eh, probably true
      4) Very rarely do you get enemies with that heavy a disparity. The shield system works nicely to avoid stun locks that are too easy to start, and it's satisfying once you then do manage. Your point about "just pump enough damage strategy doesnt matter" is just dumb and applies to BG3 too. Yes, you can reduce most fights to "do enough dmg lol" if your numbers are high enough
      5) The random system is better for actual TTRPG. With people, and actual dice. Then, the atmosphere you describe can actually work.
You make the copout of saying that in the dice fail situation, you mustve made lots of mistakes before, to justify the failure. But that's not always the case. Sometimes you made little or none, at least compared to the massive downsides you get for a failed roll. You lose things you really shouldnt have, or win things by dumb luck. And then, when you fail, you simply restart and get better luck next fight without having to change anything. In divinity, if you fail a fight, you actually need to significantly change things. In BG3, maybe you just got unlucky and you'll win next time. Or maybe you need heavy luck, but you'll try that many times. Not to mention the common and invited option of save-scumming the game. All these things are not present in real life DM+players DnD.
Luck is bad in strategy. Bosses are cc immune with legendary immunities in dnd too, so your argument doesnt really apply. You need to get the resistence out of the way first. In dnd, you dont most of the time and at all times, your success depends on luck. Hard cc saves are one way a fight becomes impossible or easy, with 0 skill difference, purely based on chance. And thats shit for difficulty and planning.
      6) Yes, with min-max builds, cheese, knowledge, exploiting strategies, and lots of runs, both games can be beaten with any arbitrarily limitation. That is not the normal case. In general, for 95% of playthroughs, people use 4 party members, which can be a hassle. But almost no one wants to take on that heavy cripple because there's no compensation.
      7) Bg3 is bigger, 25 fold in budget, thus the increased number of abilities, VAs, graphics. That's fluff when it comes to the actual strategy aspect, but combined with the DND publicity its most of what gives it the higher sale numbers. Divinity still has more sales by budget, by a large large margin.
It has the advantage in all those, but it still loses as an actual strategy game. And as someone who cares less about pretty graphics and sex voicelines, and more about strategy and tactics, that makes divinity better, despite having been made with a fraction of the resources. So Folks tend to prefer BG3 if they care more about graphics, reliable planning is difficult and headbashing chance is easier, and know it from the hype

there are aspects of DoS2 that make it a better game for me personally. For example, the Lone wolf feature. That if you only go with 2 characters, you get double the stats, meaning they are twice as powerful as if you went with 4 characters, to make up the fact that you are only 2. this allows you to flesh out very powerful builds in the 20-22 levels you can farm up to and yes, if you do absolutely everything in the game and kill every single creature and npc you don't need, you can get to level 22, but the game scales to 20.
Anyways, for example, the spec I beat the game with was what Fextra life calls "the death knight". this incorporates the necromancers self healing ability with warfare (10 necromancer and 10 warfare), so you heal for the amount of damage you deal, meaning if you have 2 death knights with double stats, who needs a healer? but there are other fun powerful lonewolf specs. BG3 does not offer you this option of game play at all. if you go with any less than a maximum party you are straight-up nerfed. I have not finished BG3 yet, but the RPG aspect might be a tad better, the story might be better.
The character progression: DoS 2 wins by a country mile here because of Lone wolf option. there is nothing more that needs to be said.
Overall I prefer DoS2, because I value gameplay over story, but I still love BG3 though.

Haven’t played BG3 yet or even finished Dos2(played act 1 three times and currently on act 2 with a 2 man lone wolf play thru) I agree that option is so good. Also, it’s nice to only have to worry about updating gear and abilities for 2 players instead of 4. And those extra APs. The only problem is I think I picked too low of a difficulty for my lone wolf run as my characters are just annihilating and one shotting fools. Ah well, time to restart this amazing game haha

Apart from the insane amount of cutscenes and dice roll system, one of the greatest improvement from Larian has been their marketing this time.

I'm glad Larian studios is finally getting the recognition they deserve with BG3 but I thought DOS 2 actually deserved more for it when it was first released. Even though the Divinity OS2 had a mid 90s score at MC, it really didnt get much attention from journalists for being one of the greatest RPGs during that decade. The goodwill being built from DOS, DOS2 and BG3 will most likely push DOS3 as an anticipated AAA title for their expanded gamer base

I think the character building in DOS2 is better, but the npc interactions in BG3 is better with voice acting and even romance variations. DOS2 is less linear, yes you have a storyline you go through, but it's much more varied how you get there. You get an end goal, and you can take multiple different directions and explore to get to that end goal in each act. In BG3, it's not linear by any means like traditional FF games but it is pretty one directional.. with the odd side quest you can stop at while going that direction. The gear in DOS2 is more variable, in BG3 it seems to be about clickies, with less viable options in gear.
Hard to say which is better, they both have aspects which exceed the other. I guess it depends on what style the player plays and which aspect has more value to them.
Me personally, the aspects of DOS2 i don't like i find to be more disappointing.. "I wish..." but the aspects in BG3 i don't like, i find to be more.. "this is dumb and stupid".

One thing you didn't mention about these two games that I think is really important, are the consequences of your decisions. I will never forget playing DOS 2 for the first time, and realizing how every little decision I made affected the world in a permanent, and noticeable way. It absolutely blew me away. There are tons of different creative ways to get out of Fort Joy. Also the ability to pickpocket anything (if you have the stealth and skill points/level to be successful) was incredibly fun.
Anyways, thank god that Hasbro decided to go with Larian for BG3, because literally no other game studio could have done what Larian accomplished with it. I will always have a special place in my heart for DOS 2, and especially it's music, and the creative little detail that you can choose the main instrument that will play through the whole game (Cello is best btw), is incredible. BG3 wouldn't exist without DOS 2 and it's greatness.
PS. I am shocked you liked the magic and physical shield bars in the game. That was one of the biggest criticisms people had for it back when it released. Many felt it made the game a slog, and it's interesting you liked it.

Totally it's a great that Larian got that green light, they worked hard for it and made a success out of it.
The physical/magical shields are the most criticized part of that game and rightfully so, the game telling you which guy you should attack with whom and preventing CCs for half the fights is insane, i'd rather have a % to land than every enemy walking around with CC shields and a sign that says "your mage should attack me and your warrior should ignore me" or vice-versa.

And BG3 gives a better narrative and roleplaying experience with some of dos2 depth in a d&d style (dice rolling) and manages to immerse yourself more into the story and characters. But the only problem I have is when you play origin characters in bg3 the game treats you like a custom character, so you wont be hearing your origin char voice at all. Great video.... My 2 cents.. I do like bg3, the cut scenes are fantastic but I prefer playing Dos2 as a whole.. even though the 5e rules are much streamlined, simpler and player friendly than 3.5e, they still hold bg3 back from being amazing for me,. because it takes too long to do anything in bg3, the game moves so slowly because its all behind skill checks and rolls....but dos2 moves along at a nice steady pace.. you can experiment with builds and weapons on the fly and have skills and talents to increase your AP even During combat and with the right Buffs and de-buffs pretty much wipe your enemies from the battlefield before they even get to a second combat round.. this makes it exciting and challenging... so for me... Bg3 is just too tedious and in the larger battles .. one wrong move or skill from your rogue, wizard or whatever... can doom your enitre party from the beginning of a 2hr combat encounter .. Now bg3 with dos2 rule set & mechanics.. now that would be incredible

  • @breazybear

    I just started Dos2 and I was very surprised how BG3 just copied the intro straight out of DOS2. I get they are the same developer but I mean;
    - a group of strangers are captured and
    brought aboard a ship
    - you all have a collar(Dos2)/tadpole BG3 placed on/in you for a mysterious reason
    - ship is attacked by a Kraken with giant tentacles (Dos2)/ship has giant tentacles attacked by dragons (BG3)
    - ship crashes on beach and you find your companions in the vicinity each with a mysterious or noble past
    - vendors have the same ui
    - scrolls, items, barrels, ground effects all seem to be identical in both games (obviously more polished in BG3)
I mean BG3 is awesome but I don’t think it is quite as revolutionary for RPG’s as some believe especially since it’s basically DOS3 with a new name and some more polish. It’s basically what mass effect was to Kotor, a great new adventure but nothing that hasn’t been done before.

In my opinion BG3 takes all except for Combat and World Design.
The dice combat system is something i've never really enjoyed, even when playing tabletop DnD, so the DOS2 combat is something i really really liked. It makes proper strategy much more relevant.
For World Design, I just think DOS2 has more memorable locations.
Another 2 things I think DOS2 did better:
    a) The hub area: The campings are nice and all, but the Lady Vengeance is unbeaten.
    b) Origin Character Mains: The companions are overall better in BG3, but I found playing with them as main rather disapointing. Only one I really enjoyed was Gale. In DOS2 the origin characters are much better to play as. They get exclusive dialogue options in many segments, and also each have their own theme songs that play in Lady Vengeance and certain parts of the game.
As a whole, I'd still give it to BG3, but it might be the recency bias talking.

BG3 combat just went straight into DnD e5 with limitation (action, bonus action, limit spell slot,...) which make the fight slower and harder than DOS2. The downside is its feel more challenging and time consuming, but the upside is it make people really have to think and find the best strategy for each fight, rather than just spaming your best spell every turn, wait until it cooldown and then do it again in every fight. The dice add some unexpectedness and randomness.
in DOS2 after i got summoning 10, which gain access to the big Incarnate, them give him some buff and he just straight up carry me throught almost every fight after that. But in BG3, even with very strong spell and best gear in town, i still struggle some time.

You can sneak into boss rooms and stack bombs on the boss before initiating the fight to oneshot them. You can also oneshot most enemies by simply moving a heavy crate on top of them.
And that's not even touching on how you can infinitely stunlock enemies or oneshot them, or get stunlocked or oneshot yourself, without any exploits involved.

I've completed DOS2 and tried playing a bit of BG3. The games for me are very similar, but in the end DOS2 wins out just slightly.
The combat in DOS2 is simply better imo, except for the movement system and the funny shove - anyway, DnD combat is simply built for fun roleplay and not videogames, all you have to do is damage your oponent and not die in the process, there's just nothing like the armor system of DOS2 or the effect combinations, terrifying status effects that can either make you or the enemy skip dozens of turns, managing initiative for big damage bursts and other weird shenanigans you can do. I can't say too much about the story since I haven't finished BG3 yet, but they seem on par. The character interactions in BG3 are better because of the cutscenes but I wouldn't say I love Fane any less than I love Asterion. The romance scenes in DOS2 can't even compare to BG3, that's for sure, some of that stuff straight up belongs on p-hub and I'm all for it. In terms of races - the DnD races are classics but I enjoy the weird looking elves of Divinity and the Lizardfolk a lot more.
Basically all in all I think the games are mostly equal for me, but I prefer DOS2 mainly because god DAMN why is the game over 100gb!? I understand that it's got a lot of choices and paths etc, but there's no way it's bigger than mmos like ff14. I'd like to have more than 2-3 games installed on my computer please. And I barely reach 30 fps on my pc despite the game not being super graphically impressive, which is just odd to me because DOS2 looks good to this day and is very well optimized. I love the game but like, come on!

I'm about 40 hours in Balders Gate 3 and I do not like the randomness and the game is kind of confusing. The game feels like it's all over the place. DOS2 i loved from the beginning and I feel like the story is a lot better. The gameplay is much more straightforward, and the lockpicking is funner because its less restrictive and a little more simple.

@@SeventhheavenDKexactly, the ability to save scum is really what ruins it for me. In real life DND, you can’t save scum. But in a game, you very much can and will, which totally cheapens and undermines the entire dice roll system in the first place

I've played both Divinity os2 and bg3 and i found myself seeing less use of examine in bg3 than dos2. in bg3 most enemies either have no resist or they have all resist and take double radiant damage. there's not much enemy variety in bg3 compared to dos2. while there's so much more combat variety and options in bg3 at the moment dos2 does combat better in enemy design wise. don't get me wrong bg3 still does it better than dos2 in a vast majority of ways but like every enemy i examined almost had no uniqueness to it with resistances. there was almost never a reason to change up tactics besides the level layout. while in dos2 there was plenty of enemy weakness you could take advantage of like the infinite healing trolls you had to hit with a counter element.

But I'm an rpg player already, just DOS2 somehow slipped under my radar. DOS2 is a "traditional" crpg. So don't expect the kind of cinematic immersion that you got from BG3. If you enjoy the turn-based rpg combat of BG3, if you like deep mechanics and a rich story -- but don't *require* the cinematic experience -- then you'll probably like DOS2.

They can taste very different. You may fall in love with DOS2 or don`t enjoy it. For the combat and straight forward puzzle solving, dos2 will be a lot more fun, big big customization on your leveling and skills, no restricted by classes, and the levels and scaling of the combat goes bonkers fast, you can be summoning, doing necromancy or throwing fireballs right from lv1 to give you an example in comparison to bg3, and it doesn`t stop. If what you enjoyed was mostly the cutscenes and the companion stuff? dos2 give you companions and quests for them with a few dialogues while solving them and events but that`s about it. DOS2 is much more focus in being a wargame tabletop like.

Class based stuff where roles are more defined in BG3 just makes it more unique for each of us.

I'd like Larian to make a new set in Forgotten Realms that completely ignores the rules of any table top game. In copying DnD they're copying the problems as well. Compare how fighters work in DOS vs BG3. Lae'zel is just attack attack forever but Madora is charge, spin, teleport and she doesn't need to use a short rest to use it again. Being able to multi class is great and most classes being interesting is great but they're still limited with DnD and have difficulty adapting the rules at high level when they really shouldn't bother and just create something suitable for a video game. This is a video game so prestige classes work better here and epic levels also make sense if your game is very long.
