Thanks very much for the review. There is a fairly big variation of velocity in the first shot string from 531 to 573. Do you think that is caused by the rifle or the pellets, or do you think the chronograph might be inconsistent? I have one of these myself and I have some doubts about it after seeing some early reviews that suggested that the FX chronograph may have consistency problems. I'm still not convinced about the accuracy of my unit. Your shot string variation of 531 to 573 appears to confirm the concerns from the early reviews. I'd be very interested in your thoughts on what is considered a normal variation of velocity in a shot string when using a high end air rifle together with good quality pellets (as you have used in this review).
HI KEV YOUR THINKING SAME AS ME,allso do you think bad air causes different speeds.allso what is the gun industry satndard on ftlb fps we know in uk its 12ftilb ,most rifles say 11.5ft thats still high if police test that wi light pellet were done for, allso what distance should the rifle be away from the chrono what do fx test there rifles at,allso top rifles available today look so inconsistant i wouldnt buy any .by the way we didnt have all this trouble with springers
Cool. Thanks! I got one recently for my 408 Texan SS and took it shooting in the mountains to build some data. I noticed that if there’s anything like sticks or bushes near the front of your rifle you don’t get a reading at all. Just a FYI heads up
Thanks James for the review, very informative. How’s battery usage on the FX Chrono? Where did you get pellet pouches (the neoprene zip covers for pellet tins) from?
Its accurate and a great idea, i zero my rifle and then add the chrono to check power and spread. My POI changes by around a 1/2 inch when mounted. Thats on an FX Streamline.
Great stuff James, after watching this, my Chrony with shades that is very fussy with light conditions is going in bin lol. Technology is great in this instance 👍🙂
I have a uragan with a fiber bottle that runs all the way to the end of my barrel so my chronograph is sitting about 3 in below the barrel . Will that work!!!
Hi James thanks for another good and informative review, i have just ordered one of these as replacement for a combro mk4 , my mod/barrel are wrapped in a camo material will this affect the fx usage/readings do you think?
I'm guessing that it may possibly be affected by the muzzle blast maybe? It would be really cost effective if i could use it on multiple calibres. Cheers and keep them vids rolling.
Tempted to buy now that there's decent software with it but my crombo connected up to the blueshot app produces the same data although it is a little fiddly to align it all up but works out considerably cheaper.
Yes it would be good to know what caused the large variation in velocity readings in the first shot string. I've heard that a lot of FX rifles benefit from turning the regulator pressure up with a corresponding reduction in hammer spring tension (bringing the power back to sub 12ft lb) - this normally results in more consistent velocity readings. I also wonder if it's the FX chronograph that might have caused the large variation in James' first shot string. Perhaps the 'minimum return' setting in the app needs changing from the default setting of 20 to see if that makes an improvement. Another possible cause of velocity variances is too short an interval between shots, i.e. insuficient time to allow the plenum to reach the maximum pressure set by the regulator.
To be honest; with an under lever i’d be tempted to get a mini tripod and just line it up. Fixing to the gun would be possible, but i can see it being a bit of a pain. James
I’ve not no. With it being marketed as airgun specific i don’t think it would be right for me to try it or show it - mainly as someone somewhere would have an issue and it would come back to me. James.
We are limited to sub 12 ft/lb without a license. So this is one of my sub 12 rifles. Hence the slower speed as much higher than that will put me the wrong side of 12 ft/lb
If I wanted to get a true reading of the BC of my pellet from a down range reading can i use the fx chrono down range or has it got to be under the barrel...
@@phillip23451 > If you know the muzzle velocity you can use Ballistics tables and your actual pellet drop at a specific range to figure out what you are asking. The LabRadar does what you want to but at a considerably higher price.
You can get a LabRadar it will tell you velocity all the way to your target up to a certain distance but it is almost 3 times the cost but you can use it with powder burners as well.
That you’ll have to find out with your own rifle. Each rifle tends to shoot slightly differently so you’ll need to test to see what works best for yours.
All data is collected on your phone, if your gun shoots over 12flbs and you don't have FAC certificate you are breaking the law, knock knock who's there.
Hi brett. I have not; nor ever will, take payment to do a review - as in my eyes, the eyes of youtube and anyone else - thats an advert. If something is sent to me, i make that known. If i don’t like it, it either goes back and/or a video isn’t made, i’m not one to trash talk a product just because. Any paid promotions on youtube have to be identified as such and will tell you, the viewer, that the video contains paid promotions - you won’t find those here though. Hope that helps. James
Hi, can it be used on a springer, I'm always worried about the recoil wrecking it.

Ahh you’re at the gun room. Well maybe one day I might bump into you there.
Are you with any local clubs?
I’m not no; most my shooting is done on land / estates - with filming often done at the gun room or the new “woodland studio” - james

Nice job on the video...Which tripod is that, can you link to it? Also, which do you prefer, tripod or barrel hanging? Thanks again!
Fantastic review James . Very interesting and thank you 😊. Merry Christmas James 🎉🎄🎁🇬🇧
thanks! you too! james
When i tune my rifle, i want to also test the accuracy. When hanging something on the barrel, that will change the POI
use the tripod mount then ;) job done!
ReplicaReviews
problem is that seems to cause issues with unreliable readings, hence the inclusion of the barrel mount on the mk2 version. Pity really

Thanks for the video. Have you been able to figure out how to delete saved shot strings on Android?
Hi buddy what bipod do you have on your fx gin I have just purchased a fx maverick and need to get one thanks

It wont effect it at all. Its a radar, so it measures distance from the unit to the pellet. The mod wont change anything.
Hi james, great video as always. Can the FX chrono be used on a standard velocity (1070 fps) .22 lr or is it just for air power?
Thanks mate. Neil.
The official line is airgun only; so i’ve kind of got to stick to that. Butttt 😉😉😉😉😉

Fantastic .. you are clear and articulate.. new sub subbed.. Thank you 🙂
Love mine,it just works! Happy Christmas and New year all!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
you too! thanks!
This chrono uses IR or microwave wavelenght?can use indoor with minimal light?
What was the readings on full power?

I have a moderator but fasten to barrel no reading? Should it be placed on moderator.
Yes
Can you export the data in a .CSv file or other format? How much data does the unit retain for reference?
Would it be aekward to fit onto an Underlever ? i.e. Air Arms TX200 ? OR Weihrauch Hw97k ?
To be honest; with an under lever i’d be tempted to get a mini tripod and just line it up. Fixing to the gun would be possible, but i can see it being a bit of a pain. James
Many thanks James.
After I mounted it on a little Tripod, do I just shoot across the top of it ?
I'm new to all this, as you can tell...!!!!
Yeh hold the barrel level above the unit. The app shows you the best way to hold the muzzle in relation to the radar. J
Thanks James.......appreciate it.
How would that work on a 97K weirauch? (underlever)
Exactly as i’ve shown above...
I know it's meant for air rifles but have you tried it on a 22lr
I’ve not no. With it being marketed as airgun specific i don’t think it would be right for me to try it or show it - mainly as someone somewhere would have an issue and it would come back to me. James.
Dos it olso working with 22lr
PAH! You just cost me 147 quid! 😂
Just curios .. why your shooting in a really slow speed.. it that the law in your country?? ..

“A lot of people stocking them” ~ I thought that JS Ramsbottom were the only supplier for the U.K.?
there's multiple online retailers uk wise...
Got mine on Amazon UK... £133.09 delivered next day
Maksimal berapa fps
Apa bisa digunakan pakek senjata api
If I wanted to get a true reading of the BC of my pellet from a down range reading can i use the fx chrono down range or has it got to be under the barrel...
Personally; i’d stick to using as per the instructions. James

What’s your fb page link pal
Check the description out - fb link should be there. Failing that just search replica reviews uk - should pop up easy enough
do these work on an underlever spring powered rifle?
They will work with any air rifle. Its radar based.
I have found that when using Spring or Gas Ram air rifles the shock tends to turn off the unit, PCP fine. Anyone had this issue?
what best speed for fx impact 5.5 and 6.5?
That you’ll have to find out with your own rifle. Each rifle tends to shoot slightly differently so you’ll need to test to see what works best for yours.

Velocity on this chrono looks a little jumpy.suppose that's fx for you problematic.
Too bad every part of life has to revolve around a phone.
Too true James , funny thing is though , it seems the least used use for a phone these days , is to actually talk to someone ...
This keeps the price down of the FX unit though.
I olready see it no
