Honestly, this new show format is just a mess. They are rigging it as they go to get the ones they want to stay. My guess is, the logic is that they have experience in the show, so they are expected to perform even better than they were so they don't allow them to challenge the ones with the lower ranking. But some of the new contestant this season are in the lower half, like WangSuLong I think has real potential of being eliminated if ShangWenJie were to go against him or Tia.
But I really just don't like the show recycling past singers. If they're going to do it, do like a spin off show, where it's pretty much the same but contestant have been through 1 season of the show.
