  • In 2014, RAK Ports embarked upon the planning for a project which would see Saqr Port, the Middle East’s largest bulk-handling port, construct two new berths capable of handling the world’s largest bulk cargo vessels.
The project would take until 2019 to fully complete, and involved designing and building one of the world’s tallest, deepest quay walls, in an exposed location with no protection from the open sea.
The many challenges involved in the project meant pushing the limits of design engineering in this field of maritime expertise, beyond anything that had been attempted before.

I felt that the size of the Quay blocks is smaller than what I had seen in other projects.

This is a highly technical job alright a lot of planning and organising and disaplin the logistics are mind boggling ,the cost must have been enormous ,old jimmy Australia

Very interesting and educational...100 million tons annually, think 1000 ships @ 100,000 ton load each, that's a lot of material handling...

Equivalent to the amount of coal exported from the port of Newcastle on the east Coast of Australia

@@gezglobal1117 Thanks, I looked it up on Google Earth, amazing piles of coal waiting to be loaded onto ships...and infrastructure.

@@markmark2080 Yes, quite a logistical challenge. I was only involved in extending the 600Km rail line to accommodate 1.5 km long coal trains. However all this is dwarfed by the iron ore exports from the west coast of Aus.

The dredged channels are barely 20m deep as was pointed out.
That does not really account as saturation diving.
So what the divers probably mostly need for their safety are Shark Cages. Right?🤔

The music is TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. This is a factual film, not a music video.

Yeah imagine if man put as much efforts into solving real problems instead of just building stuff so capitalists could profit off of problems

@@davefroman4700 id love you to explain the above comment in more detail, why do i sense that you hate capitalism and how is that relevant to the documentary, without capitalism you would not be able to own anything, you would have no wealth and never be able to have any financial gain with which to better your lifestyle and circumstances, looking forward to having you help me see the problem through your eyes
