These auradescent rainbow incandescent fire light bulbs are absolutely beautiful! GE did an excellent job making these light bulbs! However it is surprising though that GE didn't install a support wire to support the middle of that filament in this light bulb? That would have made the light bulb filament not break that easily. The dimming of this lightbulb is gorgeous as well. Thank you very much for sharing and you have an awesome week!
The rainbow color is produced by applying metallic salts to the hot glass. It is commonly called carnival glass.
Yup, I can remember those havin' C-shsped filaments (and an amber/orange version). Also, I think GE used that dark blue package style, in the 90s.
I’ve always found these bulbs to be nice looking, I don’t think they make they anymore. Loved the effect these gave off. And yes that’s the typical GE filament from this era, it’s quite weird.
GE Brazilian A19 bulbs also used to have this type of filament, I have the 40, 60 and 100w of them
I still have a fixture that I use the 60W version of these. They are also made by Sylvania and look identical.
some of the GE globe bulbs have unsupported filaments too.

I have the 40 watt variants of these with the straight filament with no support in the center.
Nice light bulb. But yeah, GE really cheapened out on the filament supports. All to save 1/1000th of a cent. that's their way to make the bulbs last less.
I used to think the lack of filament supports was strictly a measure to cut production costs, but as of late I’ve been thinking it may have also been for the sake of efficiency.
Most bulbs I have come across with lots of supports (like the C shaped filaments) have lower output for a given wattage. Perhaps due to more of the heat being conducted away from the filaments by the supports.
General rule of thumb is each support drops luminous flux by ~1% due to heat sinking effects cooling the filament. Burn position also effects efficiency; gasfilled lamps with linear filaments (C-6, CC-6, C-8, CC-8, etc.) are more efficient when the filament is vertical due to lower filament convective heat losses.
