WayV literally has a flawless discography, it's crazy how underrated they are. Like out of all the NCT albums that came out last year, On My Youth was my second favv(it actually almost dethroned perfume lol)

Honestly, these days it's mainly about the marketing power of the label more than the discography. And WayV had always been in a difficult position being the Chinese subunit. Even the strongest seeds will not grow to its fullest when planted in a terrible soil.
Anyway, doesn't matter. I'm always rooting for them and supporting them no matter what.

WayV's "Popin' Love" MV was short because it was a track video and not a regular MV. "Popin' Love" is a B-side track on the same album as their main track "On My Youth." NCT releases track videos for a lot of their B-side tracks on their albums, which are short promotional videos for their secondary songs meant to encourage people to check out the album and listen to the full songs.
To see them perform the full song check out their dance practice video or a live performance.
Check out the dance practice for "Popin' Love" next. NCT/WayV are known for their dancing, as well as their vocals, and they have a dance practice video for almost everything they do.

Of all the units, WayV really encapsulates what boy groups sound like in the west while still being modern pop and I LOVE that for them! We get such variety from the NCT/WayV brand that it's great to hear WayV access THIS sound while still being distinctly WayV. Despite qualms against how they're treated in the industry (cough SM cough), the demos they get offered and the songs they get to record are brilliant. Classic boy band sound and sick r&b tracks. WayV is for those with GOOD TASTE 😂

WayV are just this one of a kind gem of a group like their talent is boundless. They sing in English, Chinese’s and Korean flawlessly and dance flawlessly. They just have so much star power and they truly love to perform and love being a group. Their bond is so familial and they have amazing personalities as well. I wish SM put more effort into them truly bc they could reach the top 😭❤

Because WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- or WeishenV in Chinese -- which means "gods of vision" -- is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. (Hence, why in the lyrics of "Phantom" they say "only I can see the truth," and they talk about having the vision, etc.) As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines.
For example, in their "Phantom" MV we see the red moon or planet with YangYang holding up the moon, which I think is also probably connected in some way to the fact that in WayV's "Moonwalk" lyrics they talk about taking over the moon. And it's also probably connected to WayV's other MVs, as well as EXO's and SuperM's storyline, because everything EXO does is also connected to the moon, other worlds and other dimensions, etc. It's all part of the SM Culture Universe.
Although WayV's "Phantom" MV is loosely based on the concept of the Phantom of the Opera, a phantom is just another name for a ghost or apparition, so I really think the song is about a phantom in general, not specifically the phantom that haunts the opera house. I think the song is more about the image of someone or something that haunts your thoughts or memories, etc. that seems to be affecting or controlling all aspects of your life, manipulating you "like a puppet on a string."
As you may know, currently, there are 6 members in WayV: Ten debuted first as members of NCT-U and he is also a member of SuperM; Winwin first debuted as a member of NCT-127 and NCT-U, and Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Xiaojun, Hendery and Yanyang debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed.
> Kun -- the one with the red hair -- is the oldest. He is a lead vocalist.
> Ten is Thai, but his grandparents are Chinese; he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and a center of WayV. (He is the NCT member with the most solo songs.)
> WinWin -- the one with the deep voice who throws the knife at the heart -- is a lead vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper. (He is trained in traditional Chinese dance and attended one of the most prestigious dance academies in China. He was also admitted to a very important dance program at university -- similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard. Ten and WinWin also have a very beautiful self-choreographed performance to the song "Lovely" by Billie Eilish that you should check out.)
> Xiaojun -- the guy with the gray hair -- is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time. He also speaks Cantonese.
> Hendery -- the one with the crazy eyes -- is from Macau China, so he also speaks Cantonese; he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper.
> Yangyang -- the blond -- is the youngest. He is Taiwanese, but he lived in Germany for a while and attended an international school, so he is also fluent in English and proficient in German; he is the main rapper. (Ten and YangYang have a fun English song called "Low Low" you should check out.)
You should now check out WayV's dance practice video, as well as one of their live performances of "Phantom" because the song and choreography is even better when you see and hear it live. (If you watch their MCountdown comeback stage, you will even get to hear the English version of the song.) SM is known for the fact that when their artists perform live, they are even better than any of their studio recordings. So, everyone always looks forward to live performances. I think you will be even more impressed when you see "Phantom" live.

WAYV has the best discography of all time. ❤ And that's true. WAYV was the last unit of NCT I got to know three years ago, and NGL, the first time I heard them, I was literally impressed. There isn't a single song from them that I don't listen to, because even the most underrated song is also a banger. Although they're underrated outside of China, Japan, Indonesia, & Thailand, which is a little sad, I believe if they continue to make songs like this, they'll be on top like other groups. ❤ I'm glad you like their songs, and I hope we'll get more reactions to them from you guys.

I feel like its worth saying that the original On My Youth track is a MUST listen too! The english version is amazing but the Mandarin version is so so beautiful... and i feel like the lyricism is even better!

For a while some people didn’t even recognize WayV as a part of NCT because they never did anything under the NCT name or even interact with the members, plus u have zenephobic “fans” who don’t f with the chinese. WayV is amazing. On My Youth is one of their best songs in my opinion. I wasn't sure about it when I first heard it. That first chorus threw me off, but it comes together so perfectly at the end. I love. I would recommend you check out the regular MV. It is a really good MV.

WayV is my fave subunit! They are so underated. I hope one day they can have a world tour. K-Con LA is the closes they set foot on the American soil. Of couse Ten has been here in the US for several concerts being part of SuperM. I'm hoping WayV will have that opportunity as well. This unit sings in Chinese, Korean, Eng, Japanese and in Thai (a cover song). They are just so talented and have the best discography.

Yes this is the right reaction, welcome to Wayzenni land! WayV call themselves a global group (and they won an award for international artist of the year last year)- with songs in Mandarin, English, Korean, Japanese, and Thai. And Kun was part of the mastermind team who had production input on this song. He i an excellent producer. Of course Ten made key changes to the choreo. Add Xiaojun bringing the vocal power like only he can, and amazing rapping from YangYang, Hendery and WinWin…you get the masterpiece that is On My Youth. You gotta listen to the whole album - Rodeo will blow you away. But WayV never misses - there isn’t a single song on their entire discography I dislike. If you haven't already, you should check out the original Mandarin version of "On My Youth." And you definitely need to check out their "On My Youth" dance practice video.
Because WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, pretty much all of their songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive," "Miracle" and "Love Talk"or, as you heard, their all-English version of "On My Youth". Or, if you happen to pick the Korean versions of "Turn Back Time" or "Kick Back.") LOL
The reason why WayV produces English versions of a lot of their songs is because they are a Chinese group that promotes in China. Due to all the political issues between China and Korea, by producing songs in English, among other things, this allows WayV to still be active in Korea, but helps them avoid any conflict with the Chinese government or being seen as a Korean idol when they promote in China. Right now, Korean companies are not allowed to do business in China and any mainland Chinese citizens are restricted from doing business with or working in Korea, which is why WayV has to maintain a separate presence even though they are part of NCT.
In order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how SM gets around the rules the Chinese government put in place, is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots, which is why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other NCT sub-units. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's.) The company WayV is under is called Label V, which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turns a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company.

The latest full album On My Youth is very good to listen. It’s like what we call “no skip album”. You need to hear them all.
Most of WayV’s fans feel nervous on On My Youth as it’s quite sad, it cut all fun feelings and was different from the previous albums a lot. They tried something new and show off their best performance with On My Youth.
I personally love On My Youth because the song is very special. I may not good at express my feelings like you two but it’s really amazing for WayV when they perform the song on stage. You should find their stages so you will see their super best performance.
The new album will be released soon in a month or two. Please look forward to WayV’s new mini album. They spoiled something like “it’s a good song, not sad” and they just finished recording.

It was Kun’s idea to add the strings at the end of on my youth. You lot starting off with action figure was crazy. I would recommend you watch the on my youth mv as its amazing and the original bridge in mandarin kinda hits different tbh. i would recommend Diamonds only, Nectar, Moonwalk and Take Off.

This was how I realized how China's soft power is so little compared to Korea. WayV is the perfect group but the moment people hear them singing in Mandarin it's like they become less cool in the eyes of usual mainstream kpop fans. Such a pity.
Reminds me of how most people I know used to not care about Kpop during the 2nd gen just cuz they are not mainstream enough.. Now that kpop is mainstream enough, many are so into the trend they don't give others a chance. It's so funny cuz both my fave bg WayV and gg XG aren't exactly Koreans..
