When EH Harriman (yes THAT EH Harriman) acquired the Southern Pacific in the 1890s he'd planned to turn the entire Peninsula corridor in to a 4 track ROW kind of along the lines of what the Pennsylvania RR was doing in its "Broadway Corridor" between New York City and Maryland in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Railroading in the San Francisco Bay Area may have been VERY different if Harriman had achieved his goal.
I want to personally thank you for doing this cabride video; most of the other fanrailer's are in high school and can't do any new videos until the summer. Personally, I've wanted to see a video from Menlo Park into San Francisco. I really love seeing how much of the overhead catenary system has been completed. So again, thank you for the excellent video!
Lived in the bay area for 60 years than retired and left due to very high taxes and everything else the place has turned into one big cash cow. P.S miss the trains we used to ride them as kids to San Francisco when it was a safe place and very clean.

The bell is constantly ringing to warn people at the station that the train is approaching the platform . Caltrain's speeds can reach up to 79 miles per hour but normally travel between 50 and 70 . Once electrification is finished , the new trains will have a maximum speed up to 110 .
I like your video except for one thing you need to put the name of the station up on the screen. You're lucky if you sometimes catch a signs with the name of the station on it.You can't understand the conductor.

Let’s be honest most of us are watching to see progress on the electrification
I'm glad that the scene running at high speed was refreshing

Maravilloso. De San Jose a San Francisco, ese ramal , esta casi electrificado en su totalidad. Increible .
They still need to electrify the line between San Brun and San Francisco. Overall looking great!

beautiful video brother...
When will there be only electrified service on the line?
I've been hearing around 2024, but I'm not sure.
@@chrisrailfanning1217 yikes
Are there atleast some EMU services yet?
@@felixbeutin8105 Nope, it's currently all diesels right now.
@@felixbeutin8105 dont forget 2020 haulted A LOT. Putting a pause on any major projects and we are still feeling the effect of that now
WOW this cab view for a Silicon Valley railway is fantastic! Why is the bell constantly ringing and why is the train so slow?

Very Cool!
When are they going to start using the Stadler trainsets?
probably 2024 or 2025 at this rate
In 2024 that’s when it starts running
Why was the car screaming so much? Sounds like a tea kettle lol
Absolutely amazing video!
thank you!
No problem!
You should also do the stations, that the train doesn't stop at.
When is Caltrain EMU and aem7 Going to run 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
46:51 - JPBX 919 and trainset waiting for their disposition on a MoW stub track.
What service type is it?
Nice video what was the leading cabcar of your train?
Thanks, it was #4017.
2:40 Interesting. I didn't know Caltrain had an SPV2000
That’s an MP15DC
So if I were to out my hand on the wire right now, would I be shocked?
Not sure if the catenary system is live yet.
@@chrisrailfanning1217 ok thx. Not like me and my friends will climb it later 😏
Check out the video of a guy in India standing on the roof of an electric train, and touches the overhead wire! He gets roasted!
We all gonna ignore 919 sitting there at 46:50
I hear Caltrain Electric will be running on 25000 Volts 60 Hertz AC!!!
Awesome 😎

at 31:45 what's up the shaking camera?..handheld while riding it??
My phone died so i had to use my DSLR to film. It doesn’t have the best auto-stabilization and it’s hard to keep it still. I apologize.
Yup
46:51 Wrecked Caltrain F40PH #919.
San Francisco, the city where you have to walk over, or around people to lazy to work and their needles plus human waste they leave everywhere.
that bell sound is annoying.
