Atmaram (Kader Khan) has two sons, elder one is Vijay and younger one Ravi. He stays with his two sons and his wife. He works in a company whose boss is Shakti Kapoor ( Seth Usman). He is not honest with his work and normally relies on his elder son for his living hood.
Ravi meets Juhi Chawla who works in advertisement agency (part time). It is then shown that both of them study in same college and they fall in love.
Eventually, Atmaram is thrown out of job. Vijay supports family honestly but Ravi understands his father. Vijay has a little son who has heart ailment but Vijay can’t afford the treatment. Both the brothers fight but Atmaram is still indifferent.
Vijay overworks in his office and try to get extra money. One day, due to extreme exhaustion, Vijay falls off the height and dies. Ravi gives his father piece of mind and Atmaram started to realise his mistake.

आत्माराम (कादर खान) के दो बेटे हैं, बड़ा विजय और छोटा रवि। वह अपने दो बेटों और पत्नी के साथ रहता है। वह एक कंपनी में काम करता है जिसके बॉस शक्ति कपूर (सेठ उस्मान) हैं। वह अपने काम के प्रति ईमानदार नहीं है और आम तौर पर अपनी आजीविका के लिए अपने बड़े बेटे पर निर्भर रहता है।
रवि की मुलाकात जूही चावला से होती है जो विज्ञापन एजेंसी (अंशकालिक) में काम करती है। फिर दिखाया जाता है कि दोनों एक ही कॉलेज में पढ़ते हैं और उन्हें प्यार हो जाता है।
आखिरकार, आत्माराम को नौकरी से निकाल दिया जाता है। विजय ईमानदारी से परिवार का समर्थन करता है लेकिन रवि अपने पिता को समझता है। विजय का एक छोटा बेटा है जिसे दिल की बीमारी है लेकिन विजय इलाज का खर्च नहीं उठा सकता। दोनों भाई लड़ते हैं लेकिन आत्माराम अब भी बेपरवाह है।
विजय अपने कार्यालय में अत्यधिक काम करता है और अतिरिक्त धन प्राप्त करने का प्रयास करता है। एक दिन अत्यधिक थकान के कारण विजय ऊंचाई से गिर जाता है और मर जाता है। रवि अपने पिता को मन की बात देता है और आत्माराम को अपनी गलती का एहसास होने लगता है।
