This dash cam, like all the ones we carry that have parking mode, is meant to connect to the vehicle's fusebox or to a dash cam battery pack in order for parking mode to work properly. The average length is about 6-8 hours. No, you don't need the dash cam to connect to a phone to record. It records automatically in a removeable microSD card. Yes, Thinkware has an excellent track history of high heat resistance.
Can you offer me advice on 3 channel cams. I have a pick up with a rear closed canopy so rear window attachment is not an option. Rear cam would have to be IP rated but with the best HD option possible. Is DVR system better? Many thanks
Sorry to hear that, we find the footage of the Q1000 to be a great option for capturing license plates, but if you have difficulty consider taking a look at some of the 4k models like the Thinkware U3000 or the VIOFO A139 Pro.
The Marketing from Thinkware is misleading. I bought a Q1000 recently but cannot use HDR & Supernight vision 3.0 Together at the same time for Continuous Driving mode. Seems Supernight vision 3.0 is intended to be used only for Parking mode ....That sucks because I prefer more clarity from super nightvision while driving & not while parking. Dont recommend any of the high end Thinkware dash cam's
It’s like you’re looking at actual footage out the front of the windshield not on a dash cam this is amazing
Nice footage. Expected as much from a top end Thinkware unit. Hope they can bring new sensors and processors to market in the coming years
would love to see an indepth dive under the plastic to see the hardware , The actual lens sensors and the difference between them all.
I don't understand why they don't make 60fps all around? The U1000 has 60fps in the rear but only 30fps in the front 🤷🏻♂️
Thinkware coming out with 3 Channel Dash Cam any time soon? Is the Q1000 superior to the U1000? How? Why should I buy the Q1000 instead of U1000?
We'll have this offering within the next 2-3 months!
How’s the battery life, does it need to be connected with your phone for it to record, parking mode? Can it stand the heat?

The Hikvision G4 would be a great option!
Is this going to be compatible with Thinkware’s multichannel splitter?
This is not, nope!
Both my front and rear windshields are tinted. How much will this affect the quality of the footage?
Typically, only tint darker than 20% will impact video during night time.
Horrible video quality to be honest; bad lens + low bitrate = this footage.
cannot see car plate numbers at all. what is the point?

Is this a new product from Thinkware ? Better than U1000?
Yes, this is the newest Thinkware product. This fits between the current U1000 and Q800PRO.
