i think it's only because this music will be in the game and Rockstar Games notified her they'll use it into their game (there's royalties to pay). The disc company has been notified and decide to show the GTA logo on the platform but they did it too early (we can expect other artist to do that) who is Tom Petty (except the guy who sings the first trailer's song)? I don't know Tom Petty but i know "ring my bell". I can bet this song will be in the final version of the game

Learning to Fly, American Girl, Mary Jane's Last Dance (which was btw. the inspiration for "Danny California" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers if you know that one) or Runnin Down a Dream. All absolute classics of Rock Music. Played up and down Radio Stations all over the world. Hell Runnin Down A Dream was actually on the Soundtrack of GTA San Andreas, playing on the "K-DST" Radio Station. I'm seriously shocked you didn't know who Tom Petty was :D

Same goes for Shania Twain. She was a country Singer. And is one of the worlds best selling Artists of all time with over 100 Million records sold. Her Songs still play back and fourth on the Radio. But I think you vastly overestimate the popularity of Trust. Even the Scorpions were a bigger thing then that.
