I love how after 5:44 Justin Stanton looks around at Shawn with the look of, "how did you just do that five finger roll on one note that fast?" Lots of respect bumpin around in that room.
Relly loved how these first chords sounded. I can't remember being this captured by the previous version. Maybe the remix brought out some more of the magic. Bill is a great piano player. He sometimes reminds me of Lyle Mays.
As this is from 2009 it is the oldest recording of SP I've seen (so far), and the question it raises for me is, "was there ever a time when they weren't as good as they are now?"

Bill Laurance is an effing genius and I don't use that word lightly. I came from a classical background and moved in to jazz. So many of these pieces have the technical side of a Bach with the flow of a Hiromi. I really wish I had the talent to animate because I have a whole series of music videos storyboarded: this, Red Sand, the whole Metropole set. This is my favorite "Boss Battle"!
Thanks good that You are. I am in love and addicted from yours music. Every time when I am listnennig what you have done it makes me so happy. I mean yours happines just come out from my Imac screen. Best Regards
Finally get to see video of this version of the song. This is the only video from this album that never hit youtube until the Remixed and Remastered series.
This and "the good man deliver" are my favorite of these remasters. I like the updates made to this one as well. I like the slight change in timbre on that lead synth, definitely adds some character (they could ease up on the reverb/delay just a touch but I digress). Overall, it still hits but there's an extra polish to it. Can't quite put my finger on it but I'm not an audio engineer.
That's funny because I feel like there's a bit of the synth that needed a bit of high-end clipping, but I can totally see how it sounds a little more full/natural when you leave that bit of buzz in. I do like this remaster though, the transition at 5:30ish is much brighter which I super like.
Breathtakingly beautiful. But to add, ifonly I could hear Nate Werth's percussion appropiately in this mix... I don't hear any bongos around 3:16 while he looks definitely hitting them :(
Maybe it just me but I felt like the original mixes of these iconic tracks is what made me blow mind back in 2012 when I first heard Snarky Puppy. Everything seemed so perfect and "in the right spot". I don't know .. I can't put my finger on it but everything feels overly produced and in-organic now. They obviously still sound amazing though.
Shaun Martin! Such a fun dude and absolute beast on keys. His solo on Thing of Gold is my favorite solo ever on any instrument.. and I play stringed instruments..
Rest Peacefully Shaun

If I'm not mistaken, this is an alternate take as well

I absolutely love Bill's music
Listening to this also made me think of Hiromi :-)
Why does it say "Slow Demon" in the description? (:
Snarky Puppy as always is a great journey into musical excellence and mastery.
C'est magnifique. C'est grandiose. C'est endiablé, c'est fantastique, sublime mais... c'est aussi (beaucoup) "Iberia" de Dave Brubeck.
Yeah !
Fantastic !
So beautiful !
Thanks for upload.
Fuaa el diego... digo fuaaa el Bill!!!
Justin's solo is sooo goooood😭
What a great movie track that would make.

There is no need to explain the "audio thing". If the engineer does a good job, you will have the feeeling, that the sound supports the music. Imho.

''This and "the good man deliver" are my favorite of these remasters''- absolutely agree!
It is always my favourite music for Wednesday :)

PLAYBACK ?
for some reason the synth solo feels harsh in voicing or maybe mix, idk... but I love this song!
The original was better, this just got loud.
I can't hear conga...😔
