  • Hey all!
I'm going to say first off, the vocals in this track belong to "Synesthesia" or AKA "Auvic" , an FL Studio user. I downloaded them from the Auvic Remix Contest thread in the ImageLine forums.
Auvic, if you would like me to take this down message me and I will do so as soon as possible! Thank you for the vocals!
This is just a quick live performance I cooked up with the latest version of FL Studio. Version 10.5! (BETA)
It adds the ability to launch clips for live performances similar to Ableton Live.
You can download the FL Studio 10.5 BETA from here:

Please enjoy, and thanks for listening!

Hey, thank you for your comments! I'm enjoying performance mode, definitely still have to get used to it, but it's a whole lot easier than using the old FL for live work. I've found the easiest way for me is to have a controller for launching clips and another one for controlling effects. I'm hoping I can get another video up soon

    Thank you!
I'm hoping to record and put up another one this weekend.
It's a little bit different from how ableton does it, but it would be a ton to explain on here. ImageLine has a page that explains all of the features of using the Launchpad with performance mode. Head over to their forums and go under the "MIDI Controller Reference List" section, and then the "Novation Launchpad" topic that's sticky-noted near the top.
I hope this helps, and thanks again for the kind words! :)

With the Launchpad and setup is pretty simple. With the controller plugged in, open FL Studio 10.5, click on "options" and then "midi settings" . Under the midi tab find your controller in the input section. Select it, enable it, and then drop down the "controller type" box and select your controller from the list. Also, set a port number for the controller. Next select your controller from the output section, check the "send master sync" box for it and then set the same port number as before

Sorry about that, RUclips didn't email me that you had posted. :/
    Glad you got it working!
    No problem, have fun! :D

Ah. I didn't have any problems with it when I made the video if I recall correctly, but I'll make sure I shut it off just in case next time. Thanks!

My recommended setup for what your looking to do, is:
    1. Get "Touch OSC"
    2. Setup a stable midi connection, either the midi bridge through wifi, or a cable connection (like the iRig Midi interface or a Line 6 midi mobilizer)
    3. Head over to the ImageLine Forums (sorry, RUclips doesn't allow links) Look under the "MIDI Controller Reference List" section, and then go under "hexler TouchOSC"
The layout and how to set it up is there
I hope this helps, good luck, and ask more ?'s if you like :)

Also, don't try and "blast" the ambience. In most cases it's ment to "sit" in the "back" and "sides" of the mix filling in the "gaps". Hopefully this helps? Feel free ask away if you have any more questions! :)

Hey! It took me quite some time just to get it right. Haha. As far as background pads go, I would start by checking out pad presets that typically come with most synths. They tend to have some of the highs cut, and usual have a lot of voices that are widened. Most ambiance with vocals or even synths is created with some EQ and/or filters cutting some of the highs, and then running that through some delay and/or reverb.

Yep, check out the app "Touch OSC" , it's actually what I'm using in this video. Awesome app, you can download the layout editor and easily make layouts on your computer, and you can also download the Touch OSC midi bridge and easily send midi back and forth between your computer and iPad.

Hey, no problem, I always enjoy helping! From the looks of it the MPK49 won't work with performance mode. You can use it as a generic midi controller and tie effects, synths, mixer busses, or whatever you like to your faders and knobs

I was waiting to see you put something on the new Performance Mode. Nice work as usual! I haven't downloaded the Beta yet, how are you liking it so far?

I'm using FLs' Performance Mode in the video. Look up "Performance Mode" in the guide. that will show you how to use it. :D

I think you can set the keys up to trigger clips. Check the FL Studio forums out for more information regarding that. Honestly, I'd say the APC 40 would be a much better buy than the Launchpad because not only do you get backlit buttons but you also get physical knobs and faders, all in one controller. Even the APC 20 would be better than just the launchpads buttons. It's all personal preference though :D

Performance mode was just added in the latest beta version. Google "fl studio 10.5 beta" and it should be the 4th link down.

ok, i do like that it has a better build and the knobs/faders, but considering i already have the knobs, faders, and keys of the mpk49, which also has a good akai build quality, I think that the lunchpad is right for me. Not only is it a bit cheaper, but i know that some people like charles deluxe use it. The main reason is the size of the pads, I have trouble with some of my smaller equipment, and i think that the customization and pads on the laucnhpad are right for me.
    Thanks for the help!!

On the right I've got a Novation Launchpad and to the left of it I've got an iPad (3rd gen) running TouchOSC

Selecting a sample and playing with the keys will always play the sample at the key you press. Further setup is required to change that. I don't see what your trying to do here. If you want looping, put some beats in the step sequencer, and simply hit play. If this doesn't help, press F1. The guide for FL has everything you need to learn it all, and you cna easily search through it. Make sure you check it out!

From what I can find. I don't think it supports the MPD 26, and it would be kinda hard to control with that since the buttons don't light up. Either way, you could head on over to the ImageLine forums and let them know you would like them to add support for it.

  • @theycallmeQUINCY
    @theycallmeQUINCY 12 лет назад

oh, i just assumed that with the drum pads, even though they dont light up, that they would be able to trigger stuff, and maybe even the keys haha.
well one day i might get something new, either the launchpad, apc 40, or midi fighter, but im leaning towards the launchpad or apc 40, its so hard to choose haha

is there any iPad app that can do what the launchpad does? like trigger fx, and turn channels on/off and be good for performance mode? Thanks i would really appreciate the help!!!

I've been having some problems using performance mode. I'm just not sure how exactly to map out the clips to the pads. FWIW I'm using an MPD26 with it. Does the Launchpad seem to work automatically?

Tip: a recording Edison eats (GUI) CPU when you keep it open, for performance better hide it, or switch to the (faster) waveform display. But if it worked well for you, no problem.

Don't download FL Studio illegally. Save up the money, and buy the producer edition. You get lifetime free updates and the software is great. I personally think it beats most other DAW's out there, but that's just me. You can download the latest beta version and use it for free until July 1st. Google search "FL Studio 10.5 beta" and it should be the fourth link down.
