I wish you would not refer to it as breaking character.....they are NOT characters in a bloody play.......they are soldiers on duty.......go find some American soldiers on duty, perhaps at the tomb of the unknown warrior.......how many of them are laughing and joking.......I’ll tell you NONE, they are not figures of fun, or to be messed with......ppl just need to learn respect.
