Chris. Is there any software that can simulate lighting and shadows for real estate. Let's say you had exterior photos of a home and you wanted to add life to it by having realistic lighting and shadows. In other words converting a cloudy scene to sunny. Possible?

hey there, thanks for your comment - and for being one of the 15 people to watch this. hahaha.
I've thought about what you're asking before - my use case would be more to do with making realistic fake twilights where the lamps cast appropriate glow onto portions of the exterior. something like blender COULD do this, however, it may be time and cost prohibitive because you'd need a fairly accurate 3d reconstruction of the exterior for it to catch all the lighting properly.
AI is getting pretty good at generating 3d mesh from a single still however, so the mesh generation may not be far off from where we are today. Also gaussian splats could get you a half decent starting point, but would still need some post processing to do the lighting and then composite it in.
And then I've also played around with some style transfer AI to train it on two sets of images - cloudy exteriors, and blue sky exteriors, and then it will try to convert cloudy to blue sky, (or vice versa) however I need a beefier GPU to make it more viable - I was maxing out around 1000px images so that project has been sitting on the back burner..
for now, I just settle for doing the old fashioned blue sky swaps with photoshop. I've got a tutorial about how to make blue sky swaps, and IMO I share some tips to make them a little more realistic than what you may get back from an (or most) outsourced editor team. But this is pretty standard practice so Im assuming youre not as interested in it; ruclips.net/video/VLzeQbKBOxs/видео.html

@@cgardinerphoto Sky swaps are good but I want to use AI to somehow add lighting and shadows from trees and shapes etc. I don't even know if this is possible but imagine AI looking at a scene and knowing the objects and how the light will hit it causing highlights and shadows.
