Can’t believe some desktop warriors on here. Give the guy a break ffs. You can always learn something new. Great character lovely personality in a world full of rudeness. Good on ya glen.
All good advice. I will use the tub and hop ups on my next bricklaying job. I liked the folly, that kind of work is right up my street. All the best to you both.
He reminds me of Tommy Cooper. But fair play those guys have the years of experience to back up what they're saying. And a shout out to Rob Songer too!
Fair play boys, my old man has always said brickies don't retire they just fade away..... don't fade away to soon all that knowledge is fantastic! Keep up the good work great craic god bless
Vera Duckworth on speed. Seriously though I thought I was in Stella street kept thinking Jack Nicholson or Al Pacino were going to pop in. This is better than Stella street, you get to have a laugh and learn proper bricklaying at the same time. Keep em coming guys.
I'm in Cleveland, Ohio and you have a subscriber for as long as I have RUclips. Thank You for lifting my spirits. A true original content creator. Best of success for you and yours going forward. Beer companies should be paying you to promote their products.
Thank you very much William. Our last video Bricklaying Made Easy 7 is more of a comedy, but people seem to like it. We really appreciate your comments buddy
U reverse what u would do normally. Instead of pulling and wrapping the line around the corner block, u pull it that it comes out the other way. The block will stay on the profile, as if it is "magnetic". Hard to explain, easier shown in practise.
I’ve just started my apprenticeship at a local builders, and the boss told me to watch all of your videos because “you’re a true old school bricky with lots of great tips” Found them really interesting (and funny) also easier to understand compared to college. Look forwards to seeing more soon. Cheers Olly
Thanks so much Olly. I know it's different, but if you do learn to lay bricks like in my first video, it really is easier. Just remember to keep the mortar and bricks close together with the mortar on the right if you are right handed. Enjoy your apprenticeship buddy, glenn
Nice work guys your the second bricklayer in a very short time that has used a smaller trowel and can still lay a good few bricks and save your backs 👍👍👍
Hi glen I haven't played bricks in 16 years since college I'm 32 now When I do brickwork do I gauge every course at each end or transfer your level on every course Sorry for stupid question haven't layed in long time
thanks for the information glenn you are a good bricky better than crompton personnaly in some aspects you are better than songer haveing worked abroad you learnt some thing from the germans anyone with the old city and guilds craft and advanced craft knows what they are talking about cheers
also have you heard now they want a full block under the lintel so meaning we have to put a course blockets round under the full block then on 2 course on top of the lintels to get it back to gauge lol
Like your videos , always use the the Batten squares on my profiles , Little tip for you tho use masking tape on the profile to mark your gauge off, otherwise I’ve had brickies with me going to different gauges Keep them vids coming Cheers 🍻
what do you think about spreading mortor for 6 to 7 bricks thats what i was told at college a long time a go by a brillent brickwork tutor called paul caunce by the way thats a broad london m34 marshaltown trowel much better than the philly pattern cheers
Brick laying the way the germans do ? One spread to a brick , bug agree not bending down for bricks on a bench is a good idea , and you got a matching suit and hair to go lol 🤪
Can’t believe some desktop warriors on here. Give the guy a break ffs. You can always learn something new. Great character lovely personality in a world full of rudeness. Good on ya glen.

1 bottle of beer per course of bricks lads, and ALWAYS put your suit on when on site just in case you get a visit from the dole office lol
Spot on!
In the old days all the brickies had suits on.
They were the days
I didn’t know that ric flairs brother was a mason!! 😂
Lol
On me Mick...on me! 😂😂😂
Great video. You can come away with more knowledge & tips by watching them. If someone has the bollox to moan, F*ck em!

Thanks mate
All good advice. I will use the tub and hop ups on my next bricklaying job. I liked the folly, that kind of work is right up my street. All the best to you both.
Your right they do use the buckets and not boards and only use the level to set up.
He reminds me of Tommy Cooper. But fair play those guys have the years of experience to back up what they're saying. And a shout out to Rob Songer too!
Thanks Matt. Hope it made you smile

To lay bricks like the germans, get a smaller trowel. Because the english trowels are designed to work from a board, not a bucket.
You're dead right Wolf
Keep making vids my man!!!
Please don't stop !!
Thanks buddy, glenn
69 still laying brick every credit.
Thanks Callum
Superb, boys. I am always willing to learn more time (and back) saving tips....even at 50! Keep them coming.
Thanks Jim
Glenn I'm steve mate.can we build a wall together one day. I'm based in surrey if you need a hand. I've got a couple of videos on youtube bricklaying
Will check them out Stephen
If you boys fancy a pint one day give me a shout 👍👍😎
Will do buddy
top fellas keep them handy tips coming
Thanks Mark
Brilliant.
Surely it would be quicker to just spread for 5 or so bricks than doing it one at a time
Not really Aaron. It's far more efficient to pick up a brick each time you bend down. Believe you me it is quicker when you master it
Get your hair cut
what a legand fair play lads
Best thing Irwin ever came out with. Total genius.
Thanks Alex
You're not bending because your not on the first course. Slow playing with the mortar bed.
That folly(whatever the fuck that is) looks amazing chaps.
Great video Glenn nice one so simple 👍🏼
P.s when’s the video coming up on how to use a 12” PETROL cutter !

Something you dont see now days on sites is the old characters...they're all robots now covered in hi-vis,helmets,gloves.
Quality 😂
Cracking video Glenn! Keep them coming! Could you show more detail with the line wrapping around the dolly then returning it on to next profile.
Will do Stuart
U reverse what u would do normally. Instead of pulling and wrapping the line around the corner block, u pull it that it comes out the other way. The block will stay on the profile, as if it is "magnetic". Hard to explain, easier shown in practise.

Yep!
We use spot boards for muck but put them up on plastic dustbins, they are then at about waist height, no bending. Thank me later ;)
Thanks Ben. Use the lid to put over the mixer if you're in someone's garden
