I have been returning to previously-watched rides -- and using Google Earth to render the routes, so I can zoom in, pause and orient myself, have a closer look at intriguing sites you pass by. After watching your videos, I feel like I will get a bigger bang out of my next London visit. You've made much of this huge city safer for visitors on two wheels! Love the colour commentary along the way, details of the neighbourhoods. Thanks again.
@@Londoncycleroutes Neat idea! -- I haven't taught myself how to do "Tours" with Google Earth yet, but I imagine it would be fairly easy to do, using the GPX files from Komoot. The latest Google Earth Pro shows an amazing amount of details close to the ground.
@@Londoncycleroutes Yeah tbh would be boring without the voiceovers and you have a good mix of commentary and footage as it is. Loving the buildings/history that you point out too btw.
London roads have changed. I need to get out more! How do you research your routes? They have built some cycle lanes near me, but then the cycle lane disappears and I have no idea how they re-connect to a later section..... On other occasions, I have used GoogleMaps to help me navigate on cycle routes, but it has once led to a dual carriageway.... and I struggled to find my to find another route around it. It has even directed me through an industrial estate, but I was n't allowed through it, as was controlled by security and they has a barrier arm. I love your commentary, you say exactly the rights things. Is is possible you could point any public toilets along routes. Perhaps places to eat or drink, where I can keep an eye on my bike. Good job!
Cycled along the millwall path today. It is getting ridiculously overgrown (to the point that it’s only wide enough for 1 bike in places), not sure whose job it is to maintain it? Hope you got your flat sorted and didn’t have too much damage.
In Melbourne here I ride I am getting quite proficient at letting the roads people know when there is too much over growth. But when it comes to the dedicated cycle paths it is impossible to know who is responsible for their care. I really wish our bicycle network had a dedicated worker for this.
I found this note in the minutes of Lewisham Cyclists meeting in 2019. Lewisham Borough cycle path maintenance e.g. Q1 Millwall Path. LC have started voluntarily cutting back the vegetation on the Q1 Millwall Path. Apparently this relatively new path does not have a maintenance contract - an oversight when the path was completed. Louise has had some initial discussions with Vince Buchanan (Green Spaces Contract Manager) about adding it to the Glendale contract, but there isn’t currently a budget allocation for this.
@@trepuryllas How predictable. A major new cycling path with substantial Sustrans funding, but no one thought about how it would be maintained. I don’t mind helping Lewisham cyclists cut back the undergrowth, but can you imagine a new road being built that motorists had to volunteer to maintain it because no one thought to allocate any budget for it?
I'm sorry to hear about the flooding, I hope you can get things sorted out soon. Wondered you could do some routes starting from the Sydenham/Crystal Palace area? Thanks a lot.
Thanks
Well done, great routes and information
Thanks for watching!

That’s brill - I wonder if I should try and incorporate some Google earth into the vids! Thanks for watching and the kind feedback

Thanks for sharing the route...
No problem!
Thanks!
!!! I didn't know about the second ramp onto Waterloo Bridge, I've been using the roundabout like a chump.
Oh man yeah it’s a lot easier to go this way!
The weather has kept you busy those couple of weeks, eh? Great video, as usual, good luck with moving out!
Hah, it was a bit of a nightmare… and thank you!
2nd channel with full unedited journeys?sorry about flooding
Interesting idea, will think about it - they’re fairly unedited as it is tbh, mostly just the traffic light waits taken out

I'm so sorry to hear you got flooded, we got flooded too in north west London and have had to move out - love your videos!
Glad you're back, missed these videos!
Cheers for watching and the nice comment!

Good job!
I tend to use the Safe Cycle London map - I've put a link in the description of most videos! it's really good. I also look at streetview etc
You're back! Yay!
For good!

@@a1white Good news. This week it's all been cut back very comprehensively by a nice man from the council with a big mower and a strimmer !

Thanks and definitely planning to do some around there, just need to figure it out!
