1:00 In" LV10", 10 stands for 10 hours of autonomy, not 10 liters. That's why you think it can contain more ! The capacity announced is 13 liters. I use mine for 3 years as my edc bag.
Aloha from Hawaii! I bought ine and actually cut off that super wide strap and replaced it with a thinner & narrower one (as well as put a quick-release on it), of which I made a video of. I used it to travel, then as a diaper bag when we had out baby, and now it's my "relo" pack at work for when we have to go to a other firehouse to cover their area. I keep spare underwear, battery pack & charging cables, snacks, and a disposable blanket in it. *Edit:* and yes, an iPad Mini fits in it nicely.
I bought this for a 2 week trip to France as my everyday pack. I wish I bought a backpack instead. The single-shoulder carry with the inability to switch, after a long day of walking, makes the bag really uncomfortable. The strap is huge; really wide which one would think would be great since it disperses the load more but it doesn’t let your body breathe and becomes hot. I have a CCW but wouldn’t carry a gun in a bag, I’m a hip holster guy so the CCW pocket is pointless for me. On the plus side it Carrie’s my large Yeti water bottle in it’s water bottle sleeve and there are several compartments to separate you stuff. If I had to do it all over again, though, I’d skip the 1-shoulder pack and get a 2 shoulder strap backpack. They’re just more comfortable on long days.
I got the 2.0 just for the dark grey color. I had no problem with the old clips and sling. The internal strap basically makes one of the slip pockets unusable. Great review.
Thanks for the review! You were the first to note the changes! Almost perfect bag, just needs to be a bit bigger for ipad pro/macbook air.. .. ahh well, still on the hunt!
They must have fixed the issue with the main strap buckle creaking. Also, they added a little nylon toggle to the adjustment release latch, which makes it much easier. I just purchased mine yesterday when browsing the 5.11 store in Fenton, MO. So far the only complaint I have is that it slings from the left, instead of the right(I'm right handed) . Not a complete deal breaker. The main reasons I bought it. It doesn't scream "tacticool" with excessive molle, the three conveniently placed grab handles, and that it has the secondary stabilizer strap to keep it from wanting to slide around to the front when bending over with it on my back.
I concealed carry every day though I almost exclusively do so appendix carry with a holster. Whats cool about the setup for this bag is that size of the strap is standard belt size so you can actually hook your IWB holster into that strap in the CCW compartment. It better secures the firearm and also protects the trigger which makes me a lot more comfortable carrying off-body during the times I feel like moving off my person. Appreciate the comparison review. Been using the 2.0 for about a month now and really loving it. I am a self admitted sucker for 5.11 gear though
The quick release is not for "micro adjustments". It is to drop bag down your chest if you strap snug on your back to allow you quicker access to CCW. Agree with compartment strap to have velcro along whole strap.
Overall great review and comparison. I have been rocking the 1st iteration for a while and love it. 2nd version doesn’t look like worth the upgrade to me. All around great bags.
Thanks. That was especially useful, as I am looking at one as a possible camera bag. I use a micro 4/3, so it may even be too big for my needs. I have a 5.11 store near me, so going to look at it. Added: I ended up buying the "Rapid sling pack" of a similar capacity. The LV had more padding and great little pockets everywhere, but I liked the molle webbing all over the front and it is a little more compact to cram it into my checked luggage when traveling. My camera is kept in a padded insert anyway, and that goes into my backpack when on a plane.
Im conflicted between this and the alpaka bravo sling max v2 most likely will get both trying to figure how to justify buying both but hoping price drops.
Where could be the good place for keys in this bag? After my brilliant 5.11 COVRT Z.A.P. 6 I bought LV10 and found a lack of separated zipped pockets/cells and places to attach keychains (I have and carry some count of keys, which should be attached to appropriate ring or cord with ring with ability to fast access from out). ZAP6 had two cords with carbins for this purpose and also some extra cells.
