I was a middle school kid. Now I m 30 and racing in scca as a hobby. Initial d was/is the best thing to have happened to me. And to see the creator of MF Ghost tip his hat to the OGs is really tear jerking. So much nostalgia.
It's kinda baffling to me that these guys doesn't know what an RX-7 is when in reality new gens of car enthusiasts knows what an RX-7 is since these cars are often show up in auto car shows and other motorsports events globally

I mean, most cars last long with proper maintenance, even more so for the Takahashi brothers because they're hella rich at this point in time and probably have a lot of resources to maintain a rotary. And even if they manage to blow an engine, crate engines exist.

The White Comet was long gone and the Ghost of Akina had leave the mountain to go pro for 30 years (MF Ghost is set in 2035) and retired due to injury. With street racing faded away as a culture. It would a miracle if someone still remember them.
Soon, a couple generations after mine, (I’m born in 2005) will never know what an RX7 is. Much less a rotary engine. Our fuel burning heroes are slowly becoming legends of the past. Much like the Initial D characters in MF Ghost. This is a real, ongoing scenario.
MFG courses are both uphill and downhill, hence Keisuke is the only one who can do both in the Project D days so he's the perfect driver for the demo run.
The FD3S is great, it made me excited to hear the sound it had from First Stage to Final Stage, since in the Initial D Legends trilogy it had a completely different sound, for a moment, I thought that the FD3S would have the sound it had in Legends.

Bunta, Joshiya *(God Arm)* and Kozo *(Godfoot)* are still terrifying drivers despite the old age. Keisuke will be no different. In fact, he's the new God Foot now. and in real life examples of old monsters, we have the likes of Robert Kubica, Fernando Alonso, and Kimi Räikkönen

Part of me wished that the AE86 had some recent cameos in the current time or 5 years later since the last Project D Race aside from the Flashbacks Although the car is scrapped in manga. Takumi did plan on rebuilding it bit by bit in the anime before he went off to participate in Rally.
In the manga we never saw it getting scrapped though, maybe it’s just still sitting in the junkyard. Keep in mind, when a character or object dies or is destroyed off screen (or in the manga’s case off panels) that’s because the creators are leaving the door open for a possible return, and knowing how much MF Ghost relies on nostalgia I wouldn’t be surprised if the AE86 shows up again at some point, I could be wrong though.

The new driver of the AE86 would be having the same takumi starter but more emotional amd knowledgeable I guess. (Relies on complete instinct like young takumi) Although I would prefer if the driver was trained under a reluctant bunta. Which is so out of character writing wise. But only one can dream.

0:13 It seems Keisuke is rotating his car with throttle steering all the way to the end of the pass. I have a doubt this steering technique is not supposed to be the best way for tire management.
I like to think the that Ryosuke called up (now both 40 years olds) Keisuke and told him to dust off his old FD meet him at some road. Keisuke then kicks ass on the course on his first try like when they were in Project D
I doubt Keisuke could keep up with his brother now though. He did not race for 20 years by that point and had a very busy schedule as a doctor. While Ryousuke stays in the career as a pro racer and even after his retire, he still doing demo run for MFG courses with nigh-unbeatable time record.
If you start the song "Futureland" on the initial bass kick at the start of the song at the exact moment Keisuke's exhaust appears on screen (0:02) and then cut a tiny bit off of how long the RX7 stays on screen before the big manji drift (0:29) the song fits pretty much perfectly.
Strange. I seem to remember Keisuke's RX-7 having different tail lights. In the vid it had stock tail lights. The suspension also seemed higher than back in Initial D.
What you're thinking of is the OEM tail lights from Zenki FD RX-7s, which would lit up the entire housing. Keisuke's car is a 1991 Efini RX-7 Type R (first year of production of the FD, so it's a "Zenki"), so it would have had that from factory. However, when it was modified for the last time in the battle with Hojo Go, the car got the famous "circle" taillights which were introduced in the 1996-1998 "Chuki" FD RX-7s and would carry on for the 1998-2002 "Kouki" FD RX-7s later on. The higher suspension could be an animation thing though, or maybe just something Keisuke did so the car is better to live with in regular driving. Remember that this is his personal car and he most likely daily drives it here or there.
Just imagine if they stumbled a footage of the AE86 running in MFG, I mean they didn't do it, but they manage to bring Keisuke here. No problem being Takumi for a cameo like good old Takumi despite of him being injured he manage to heal up and run the MFG course pulling off Bunta level shit in his suspension updated, engine swapped(probably a black top 20V 4AGE) Or better yet Takumi showing up running the course with Kanata's GT86 with Kanata with it, and probably scaring the shit out of Kanata

I don't care what happened in the manga. All that I know is in the anime Takumi decided to keep the 86 instead of scrapping it. So it should be no problem to bring the 86 back too when Takumi finally makes his appearance.

It's not for Tire Management, this is a Demo Run. No point managing the tires if you want to give it a whirl around the track for other people to see.
I doubt tires are an issue as this is like lap version of gymkhana. Just show them how the course layout that’s it.

Strange. I seem to remember Keisuke's RX-7 having different tail lights. In the vid it had stock tail lights. The suspension also seemed higher than back in Initial D.
What you're thinking of is the OEM tail lights from Zenki FD RX-7s, which would lit up the entire housing.
Keisuke's car is a 1991 Efini RX-7 Type R (first year of production of the FD, so it's a "Zenki"), so it would have had that from factory. However, when it was modified for the last time in the battle with Hojo Go, the car got the famous "circle" taillights which were introduced in the 1996-1998 "Chuki" FD RX-7s and would carry on for the 1998-2002 "Kouki" FD RX-7s later on.
The higher suspension could be an animation thing though, or maybe just something Keisuke did so the car is better to live with in regular driving. Remember that this is his personal car and he most likely daily drives it here or there.

Just imagine if they stumbled a footage of the AE86 running in MFG, I mean they didn't do it, but they manage to bring Keisuke here. No problem being Takumi for a cameo like good old Takumi despite of him being injured he manage to heal up and run the MFG course pulling off Bunta level shit in his suspension updated, engine swapped(probably a black top 20V 4AGE) Or better yet Takumi showing up running the course with Kanata's GT86 with Kanata with it, and probably scaring the shit out of Kanata

I haven't watched mf ghost so idk if this is revealed later in the anime but I feel like this might not be Keisuke's RX7 because it has no RedSuns sticker and it's got different taillights
so the director of mf ghost is the director of the legend movies, that's why the plate numbers followed the legend movies but the car condition are from post project D?

I don't care what happened in the manga. All that I know is in the anime Takumi decided to keep the 86 instead of scrapping it. So it should be no problem to bring the 86 back too when Takumi finally makes his appearance.
They're still in the 2020s how do they not know the name of the car
