I'm assuming you put the Metric AB on the Master bus after any plugins that are already there. So wouldn't that cause the reference track to also have those plugins applied to it? Thanks.
One plugin every serious music producer should use at least once.. my mixing workflow to a whole new level dialing in the sonics exactly where I want them.
this is great but I wonder - Logic Pro X has a match EQ which also analyzes your song compared to a reference... but takes it to the next level where it also EQ shapes your song to sound like the reference track. I wonder if we'll see an update for Metric AB or maybe a Metric AB Pro with such functionalities or maybe even not just EQ match but more!
DSM actually does the same where you can capture the eq curve of a reference song and apply it to your song. Metric A/B is more used for referencing rather than processing the audio.
@@PluginAllianceTV thanks for the reply! so I'm trying it out now with 14 days trial and also by your demo video about it - it doesn't show how I can grab a reference track and sort of shape my own track to sound like it. I'll keep looking but hopefully you guys could explain or link a video I have yet found. thanks!
I know its not ideal but ref against Original Mp3? Would it be right or would the MP3 have changed the sound too much i.e distortion on random frequencies
Although I utilize the Metric A/B plugin as a key component in my audio mastering process (to create a better ”master”), I'm wondering if I can utilize the same process with film audio to create professional sounding film audio. 🙂

I'm new to DAWs and I'm attempting to write electronica tunes. The composition is no problem but I'm no technician and my final exported WAVs sound terrible on a stereo etc. Biggest problems being low volume/ overpowering bass.. Bearing in mind my lack of technical knowledge, does this plug-in allow me to directly match my levels/bass/mids/highs etc to a similar song (by say Underworld for example) so my final mix comes out as clean/loud/punchy etc? Does it basically allow me to 'see' the effect of my clumsy fiddling with Compression/ Mastering VSTs? Any advice would be great, thanks.
Yes it allows you to compare your track to a reference(s) of your choice, so you can improve your mixdown. It does not fix your track for you obviously, just a visual guide.
I’m genuinely confused. Can someone help me here. Where is the output of the plugin going? As I can see it’s not a standalone tool. If comparing the mastered track to another track in the same DAW how does the plugin bypass the mastered buss?
Hope you found the answer by now but if not you put the plug-in as the last one on the master bus after the limiter and the so the references are not part of that chain and go straight to the output. Hope this helps.
@@scallionboy8679 I usually have Sonarworks as the last plugin on my master buss after the limiter. Would I put Metric AB before or after Sonarworks? My guess would be before, but would like this to be confirmed?
@@funkaholic1972 yes i would put it before sonarworks, so you hear the reference tracks in the same listening environment, however if you use Reaper you can actually put sonarworks in monitor fx which means it's always there but will not affect your master output when you render your mix but you'll always be listening through sonarworks and won't need to remember to disable it before you render.
How is that m1/rosetta support coming along? PA is the only dev left on my list that doesn’t work at all… would love to be able to use all my stuff soon, even thought most is permanently replaced in my workflow by now… i know about the flood this summer so i just really want a timeline and someone to tell me its coming kind of. Take care!!
Up to date, we do not yet support Apple Silicon devices natively. However, with our Maintenance Update 01.21, we are already compatible with Logic on Silicon devices via the Rosetta-2 layer. Many other DAW´s like Pro Tools, are not yet officially qualified for Apple Silicon devices, however, we have tested our plugins to also work via the Rosetta-2 layer with: Ableton 10/11 Studio One 5.2+ Reaper 6.18+ We hope to be able to offer native support this year.
@@PluginAllianceTV sweet. I must have missed that email. Thank you!! (I also found the info in you faq, but in every plugin it still says ”intel mac only”)
@@theswedishmusicstudio We have to list it this way, because it's not native support yet. Once we've got the official stamp, we will of course update our specifications accordingly.
I'm using this together with an RTW and SPL Hawkeye plugin. You just can't go wrong, the problem these days are to find good mastered reference tracks, especially EDM has a bad reputation. But also Metal tracks are just not good for this purpose. Try for instance the WAV file from Babymetal - Karate, I had this on the digital hardware analyzer. And that track was destroyed. I like the number but it's just too loud processed. Giving quickly tiredness. Good there are loudness rules these days. Thanks for the great video though.
Our developers are working on bringing resizable GUIs to every plugin in our catalogue eventually. However, coordinating this effort across the many developer teams and companies is no small task. Therefore, new plugins will be released with this feature already included, while we keep adding it to more and more existing plugins.
