Middle East/Mediterranean (Persian, Moroccan, Turkish, Greek) is one of my favourite cultures!! The food, music & style of clothing just match my love! 😍
You mentioned the guitar as spanish and the influence of the moors in the Iberian Peninsula Al-Andalus . I 'm from Tunisia . The word "guitar" is derived from the old Persian "chartar" which, in direct translation, means "four strings". The guitar's ancestors came to Europe from Egypt and Mesopotamia. Moor comes from the Latin Mauroi, meaning an inhabitant of North Africa. The Carthaginians, for instance, came from North Africa. Moorish influence in the peninsula goes back thousands of years, but it was the Islamic invasion, by largely Berber armies in 711, that determined the main musical influences from North Africa. They called the Iberian Peninsula Al-Andalus, from which the name of Andalusia derives. The Moorish and Arab conquerors brought their musical forms to the Peninsula, and at the same time, probably gathered some native influence in their music. The Emirate, and later Caliphate of Córdoba became a center of influence in both the Muslim and Christian worlds and it attracted musicians from all Islamic countries. One of those musicians was Zyriab (Ali ibn Nafi (789-857AD) , who imported forms of Persian music, revolutionized the shape and playing techniques of the Lute (which centuries later evolved into the vihuela and the guitar), adding a fifth string to it, and set the foundations for the Andalusian nuba, the style of music in suite form still performed in North African countries.www.timenet.org/detail.html But Ziryab was much more than a musician. A polished conversationalist, he was a trendsetter in fashion (style of clothes and their colours changed according to the season), an advocate of personal hygiene (he introduced toothpaste, deodorants, hair shampoo and perfumes), and also a connoisseur of fine food. At a time when eating in Europe was a matter of crude consumption with little or no attention to refinement, Ziryab looked on eating an aesthetic, harmonious experience: a source of pleasure to all the senses, and attended by rules of etiquette and table manners. www.spainthenandnow.com/spanish-culture/spanish-food-ziryab-789-857 We are one ❤️ Keep safe !
one addition only: The natives of North Africa were Amazir, the name "Berber" was given to them later, it was a civilization of about 5,000 years, which also influenced the Greek and Egyptian mythology and was also documented there. Music is an universal language which we all understand and feel regardless of our religion, faith and language. Music is something that brings us together because we are all connected as human beings. This is a fact since even the quantum Physics show the we are all made of atoms ... Beautiful song 🎧 love Gipsy Kings👏👏 First historical appearance of guitar-like instrument was found in ancient Persia, some 3500 years ago. Hi Johnny, I really loved your reaction to Mohsen’s concert, your professional experience and exciting reactions made your video so far interesting, love and respect from Iran, good luck❤️🤲🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm not sure ..but someone told me before that persian and Spanish music have an old connection from hundred of years ago ...maybe that's why it's look so familiar
Since 50 or more years ago in every Iranian home , they definitely have few albums of gipsy kings and we love them. Most people could sing the song without knowing any Spanish world. AS Ben Brahim well said The word "guitar" is derived from the old Persian "chartar" which, in direct translation, means "four strings". I think we have same root when it comes to guitar. Of course there are some Spanish Guitarist who are world best players.
