I was so worried this show was gonna be devoid of humor but the smoking fiddle was the exact moment I realized we were in good hands
But it would be perfect if Ernest can talk, and react that his fiddle was on fire and panicked.
@@cecanimatronicguy7403 nah he's just that much of a professional that he's unphased
@@cecanimatronicguy7403 Aint the first time his fiddle caught fire...He's a pro.
I wonder how long before that effect no longer works... 24 hours to a week or a month? Who's gonna get in on this? XD (I hope they never do turn it off, and that it never breaks, but I know Disney too well)
@@christopherjunkins So even when its good and working, Disney still sucks. Wow
I am suprised they never said blood on the saddle even as a joke.
No blood allowed in the new Disney.
@@nelsonanderson2024 That makes sense.
@@nelsonanderson2024lol
Nope, Disneys too scared to do anything with a little edge now a days
i thought he was going to sing it, but he started singing sooner after he came into view
Of all the songs of this show, The Bare Necessities from the Jungle Book makes the most sense.
Did anyone else get that the "Mineral Kings" being mentioned was a reference to Walt Disney's original idea for the Country Bears to be part of the proposed Mineral King Ski Resort?
Glad I wasn’t the only one who picked up on that, it was a great bit of trivia.
Former Cast Member here : I knew as soon as he said it. but my favorite joke is the "he's really burning through our fiddle budget, I can't believe we even have a fiddle budget."
We can exhale. Max, Buff and Melvin are so well used. Most of the characters have keep their humor and the beginning even has an addition of a "spotlight" gag. You go into a dark hall with AC, bears sing & make jokes. It's cute and appropriately themed.
Disney definitely knows how much the fans love the bears. They did a great job keeping the same bears with their humour into the show whilst adding new, fresh covers of classic Disney songs!
It is not bad, but the original was better. Too much IP. Every Disney attraction doesn't need IP all over it. They messed up Pirates that way. Why can't Disney just leave the original tracks alone. Country Bear and Pirates were their own thing, which made that great.
Because Disney fecking sucks. They ruin everything they touch now.
I’m glad they added humor back between the scenes. Also, the animatronics are very fluid.
But a lot of the songs just sound off for them to sing. Just kind of lazy in terms of song choice.
“The Mineral Kings”
For those who don’t know- this is a nod to Mineral King Ski Resort, a planned vacation destination Walt Disney himself for Mineral King Valley in California.
One of the proposed attractions for the resort was a “bear show” with assorted bands of different music styles, all portrayed by animatronic bears.
Legendary Disney animator and imagineer Marc Davis came up with concept art for this attraction… reportedly this art would be the last laugh Walt Disney ever had.
The ski resort plans were eventually cancelled… but that planned bear show went on to become the Country Bear Jamboree
This is absolutely incredible they managed to keep what made the country bears special and added that special Disney touch
Somewhere Chapek is smiling that "You've Got a Friend in Me" made it into Grizzly Hall
Though i dont think its as funny as the old show ive lived my whole life knowing that country bears was on the chopping block. They could have just as easily gotten rid of it but this is a great choice
Mineral kings joke was a nice touch. Their voices sounded like honey. See what I did there? Now I can't wait for a 'Tom's honest review'
I was so worried this would be awful- but it’s great! The spirit and charm of the bears are still there, the humor and weirdness too, the animatronics are so fluid, and now they’re singing songs that more people can sing along to! The bears are back!!
I agree. I often skipped Country Bear Jamboree. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I have to say, with the new songs that I grew up loving, paired with the comedy that was already there, I think I might just have to go more often.
It’s filled with pop music and modern Disney it doesn’t fit the twang of the old one at all
@@ashlynsminkey1578 I was talking about the tone of the writing and the characters, but the music overall was covered in a way that fits
The way my jaw DROPPED when Big Al started singing. They've totally kept the spirit and emotional beats of the original show but now everyone can sing along. In the end I'm just glad my beloved bears are still there.
Honestly outside of “Try Everything” (feels a bit too out of the style/humor) I’m loving this update.
I get the distinct sense that Disney was like “fine, you can keep the bears, but you have to choose x number of modern songs off our list” and that was simply the best option
I would've loved "I won't say I'm in love" from hercules. And sunbonnet trio could've been the muses background
@@ItzAdrian02 Oh, that's a great pick! "I Won't Say I'm in Love" is a banger and I think a country rendition of it would work surprisingly well. Hercules definitely needs more representation in the parks.
I am so happy they kept the raccoon animatronic!!! I love that guy!!! I was worried he would be gone 😭❤️
Same
It was pretty good! If this is what it took for the bears to survive then I’m totally glad the team who had this project gave this the love and attention it deserved.
Especially coming off the heels of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. It's still baffling it keeps breaking down.
@@DarknesstheHedgehog6They reprogrammed the entire ride compared to splash to reduce backing up and I can’t imagine state of the art animatronics wouldn’t have issues.
I’ve been disappointed in a lot of things that Disney has done over the last few years but give credit where credit is due. In my humble opinion they did a great job on the Country Bears refurbishment.
Amen
Blown away. They did this one right. That smoking fiddle was an amazing touch and for once, I saw a good reason for an animatronic to demonstrate the speed of their new animatronic arms. All other new animatronics with those arms just seem to be waggling them for the sake of showing off how fast they can go, not that there was any need. This reason fit perfectly and looked great. Big Al remained Big Al even with a new song. 10/10. I hope Marc Davis is smiling down on this one.
I really think Imagineers did a fantastic job with this show, keeping the feels of the older show, but bringing it to a new generation of fans! Well done Disney!!
This is the best thing I have seen from Disney in many years outside of Guardians! It brought literally tears of joy, and being a 74-year-old male, that's not easy!
OK absolutely loved it but then again I think I just love the country Bears but here’s some thing I found interesting my 13-year-old who has watch the original country Bears never got it and he thought this was cool and now gets why his dad and I love them so much, which is good because he now wants to go see the show at Disney World. He says it’s a priority on the list way to go DISNEY. You’ve captured another generation of appreciating the originality of the park.
Its a shame they removed Tex Ritter's Audio from the attraction it seems like the pacing is a little off and it would've been nice to have kept the finale as chaotic as the original. Still, its a fine update with the ability for the attraction to get another update with a better mix of classic audio and new audio. Maybe in 10 years we'll see a new show again.
I mean his voice was gone in 86-92 and every Christmas season
The pacing was always off with the og. Kinda how that show works
Emotions are racing through me right now...they did such an AMAZING job improving the technology on the bears. And I figured we would here the closing song from the original show once more..."Come Again" 0:00
those first IP pieces were ... mixed at best... But the rest were fun ways of bringing them in!
I agree.. I felt like it got better as it went. Even Big Al was great, (though I’ll always miss Blood on the Saddle lol). But I think at one point they had said they were going to keep “a couple songs” from the old show, and the only song they kept was the ending “Come Again.” I think one more really funny and non-offensive one to keep would have been letting BB&B still sing their old slide-show, “All the Guys that Turn Me On Turn Me Down,” and then stay on stage to back up Trixie on “Try Everything.” As it is, they actually cut BB&B from having their own number, making them just back-up singers. They were one of the funniest acts of the old one.
Perfect retheme. They respected and honored the original and brought it up to the modern day standards. No one talks about these new animatronics. Big Al's face is amazing!
Just finally got to watch the whole thing- the only flaw is that Ernest has no voice!! Was looking forward to hearing my favorite bear's new voice, but oh well. The fiddle gag is so good though!
I think jolly holiday would've been better, someone posted a concept video and it fit so well
I was upset at first but that part was actually really good, I love the smoke too. That’s what makes things memorable
Not as bad as I feared, but not as good as I hoped. Regardless, so happy the Country Bears are still here. That's a win for guests.
I think they should have stuck with blood on the saddle. Its juxtaposition against the more familiar songs would have been funnier than Remember Me…
But the show itself does look brand new, so that’s a huge plus.
Or maybe even "When she loved me"
@@ItzAdrian02that would be awesome
“When somebody loved me- sniff
Everything was beautiful- sniffle
Every hour we spent together-weep
Lives within my heart-SOB
When she…loved…OH I CAN’T GO ON!!”
It’s a nice show. I wouldn’t say it’s as funny as the original but it stays true to the formula. And the music is quite catchy. Definitely would watch it more than twice.
I love the little things like the three girl bears looking over at Big Al as he is back singing Remember Me
I actually got choked up watching. They've messed up SO many beloved IPs and its been so awful to see. But this is a wonderful homage to the original for once, if in fact they had to change it. It was wonderful before but this is just as universal and enjoyable and the animatronics just made the old ones look like they got a good facelift! I wish Disney understood that classic storytelling and good music writing is what made them what they are and that's all their customers want.
Only negative is they continue to use the same Disney songs in every show.
They kept the ending song! So glad that stayed.
6:21 This whistle sounds exactly like the one used in the original version (the first scene in the show, before Buff says "hey, Henry"), which is a nice surprise.
I think that IS!
They cooked! Or at least Ernest’s fiddle did.😂
That part was so cool 😊😊
This seems like a fan-made DLC to the Country Bears,
Wait, it is.
I love the mid-century costumes on all the bears, especially the host's Hank Williams inspired fit and the Elvis look on the blonde bear
I love how fluid they are
Reminds me of the older footage of the bears. 💖
The song Henry sings at the start makes me smile :3
It’s heartwarming when you see Disney just being Disney! That old magic still going on. Bravo!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's surprisingly good. I was super worried that they were going to make this just a disney sing-a-long, but it has some nice variety. Am i the only one who thought they'd still have big Al singing blood on the Saddle? Also surprised at the use of A bit of a Fixer Upper, as I get that they had to use at least one Frozen song and thank goodness it wasn't let it go or love is an open door, but its easily the weakest part of this show. Love that they kept the ending. Solid show, though it is probably the weakest version of the show for me. Still, this looks like a blast, and I can't wait to see it live.
I think it's a loving embrace of the classic attraction with a fresh yet vintage Nashville vibe that really works. Bravo, Disney Imagineers!
I was initially scared to check this out due to negative reviews I heard, but this was surprisingly lovely!! The bears retain all the personality and charm that made them so fun to watch in the first place! I love all the little references and details from the other incarnations of the attraction sprinkled in! I think the new looks for the bears are cute and stay true to the characters! (I adore Trixie and the triplet's matching pink cowgirl outfits especially). And wasn't expecting the mineral kings reference (that's dedication!). I can understand the frustration of just using Disney songs and was also hoping for more original songs, but I think that's better than no bears at all. I was also impressed by how much the new VAs sound like the original cast! Disney did good on casting! I love Ernest's visual gag with fiddle. Great new add on to the show. I think this attraction had a better update than some people say.
I like the show tho I'm a bit upset Ernest doesn't even sing in his song, i think Jolly Holiday would've been better suited. Even tho him overplaying his violin is good touch
There's a "ugh" in "though."
Ill be honest, the reason I liked it was because Im an older millennial and have background with all of those songs. It sounds like too much IP for the Gen Xers and older, but perfect for me.
I really liked that, they did a good job!
They really struck a fantastic balance of paying homage to the original beats of the show, while giving it a fresh Nashville flare to the sound of Disney classics. While I don’t really care for “Fixer Upper” in general as a song, they did a fantastic job wedding Disney IPs to the bears. Henry and Sammy singing You’ve Got a Friend In Me really tugged at me. 🥹
Yknow what that wasn’t so bad. I was worried it wouldn’t be as funny but they managed to find ways to refresh the jokes. Though they kinda used too much fog on the whole new world part. Ngl I teared up when the raccoon popped up for friend in me since I was worried they removed him but no they’re still the best of friends. Sure they’re singing IP songs but this will ensure the country bears won’t be replaced and new generations might be more interested to check out the show.
I miss the original with the Bear Band Serenade and Blood on the Saddle, but I love how the animatronics are improved, and they move more fluently. I do think Trixie’s song Try Everything isn’t the best choice for her as Tears Will Be The Chaser For Your Wine was slower.
Yeah, the new Trixie song is just cringe, tbh.
The concept video of musical jamboree, rhey suggest the song form hercules which fits better
This is absolutely delightful!!!! What a great way to refresh an old attraction for a new audience but still keeping the same spirit alive!
I wish it featured more, if not all, new original music. Something more unique to the attraction. I mean, you're sitting there in the middle of everything Disney. You're well-aware of all the songs from all the movies. Another reminder is not necessary. Why couldn't this show be its "own thing" like it was before? Oh well.
I do not like the update. The songs don't go with the theme. Why does everything have to be IP based???? Can nothing new be original anymore?!?!?!
I miss the humor and wittiness of the old show. This is just Philharmagic in Bear Form.... At least in Philharmagic, there are some funny parts with Donald.
Blame Iger, he said nothing the Disney Parks will make will be non-IP. Probably was a mandate from upstairs, handled it about as good as they could
we're in the midst of a dark ages of creativity and originality. It's not just Disney, but it's doubly tragic in their case; instead of being a gold standard of whimsy and fantasy storytelling, they now prefer to rehash and recycle whatever is currently on their corporate docket. You'd think this 'refurbishment' would be transparently lackluster and an obvious downgrade to the masses. We're losing our cultural heritage as Americans, with talking heads constantly saber rattling for change, while preservation and conserving the perennial is considered to be taboos, detrimental to societal "progress."
I was worried when I heard the Country Bears would be singing various existing Disney songs that they'd be played in a very generic and boring way. I worried for nothing - this was great :D
I love this whole show! It actually kept the spirit of the original so well.
Now we need some Country Bears merch. Tokyo Disney does a great job with their Country Bear merch!
It looks way better than the Tokyo version imo, but I just am not a huge fan of the songs. WDWMagic Steve said that apparently the last song was supposed to be Zip a Dee Doo Dah, not sure how much evidence there is to back that but it would have been a great number to include. I feel like some of the songs like Try Everything just don't really fit the bears personally. Also I feel like most of the songs are the same boring Disney songs that feel incredibly safe to perform. This company has endless songs to use and they pick "A Whole New World" and "You've Got A Friend In Me" over the countless other songs they could choose.
Oh well somebody had to whine about it...
I'm not too mad. They move much smoother and the songs are decent. I suppose it's appropriate to be using Disney songs now that they have a wider selection to choose from compared to when it first opened.
I’ll say this, I do love all of the updates to the bears and the special effects. I think they did a fantastic job updating it. In the old show it was always so hard to hear Max, Buff and Melvin, and even some of the other dialogue sometimes. It seems like that is improved.
Now what I don’t like at all is tossing music from other IP into the show. I liked the old bears take on some country classics mixed into their own story. That was the best part. It was their own story. While the music itself done in a county style was really good, it took me out of the environment - broke the story for me.
I loved the bears and I had high hopes for this refresh, but I’m disappointed in a way.
Its a show about singing bears...What "story" wasn't broken for you with new songs?
@@TheMess9898Although there isn’t a proper narrative, it’s always been, as you pointed out, a show about singing bears. Bears who all have different personalities, and when you hear them talk and hear their songs, it all goes together to tell a tale of who they are. I loved that.
For instance, if I were in the carousel of progress and John started singing We Don’t Talk about Bruno, I think it would take me out of the story.
That’s really what I’m trying to say. And, again, I love a lot of the updates! Someone else pointed out they there are a lot of nods to previous versions of the show, which I also loved. It just missed for me on the part that I felt made the previous versions stand on their own.
@@bravo366 John singing "We don't talk about Bruno" and The Country Bears Musical Jamboree singing Country versions of Disney songs that fit their personalities are WILDLY different situations.
I agree.... I do not like the song or change of the show story. I am disappointed. Nothing can be original anymore... everything has to be IP
@@TheMess9898I respect your opinion. I’m just speaking for myself.
The animatronics look great, definitely enjoyed some of the renditions and loved the smoking fiddle elenent. If this is what Disney thinks they need to keep the bears relevant then im just happy theyre still surviving. My only thoughts is if they're making it essential to Shoehorn IP into absolutely everything they could have kept onr or two of the classics like blood on the saddle - would have been a great opportunity for some comedic narrative too
WDW News, The Imagineer's did a great job on upgrading this attraction. My one quible is "Big Al" could have a slightly longer moment in the spotlight. Songs we all know, a nice touch to remember Walts Mineral King Ski Resort idea's. Big Up's all round. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Another classic made "less good" after an update. It's like when they ruined Tiki Birds so badly they had to restore it back to original. Maybe that will eventually happen with this.
Don't worry, I was writing a new and better show for these bears. it's a reboot, and a new era.
IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! WHEN IT HAPPENS, YOU’RE NEVER GOING TO BE LISTENED TO BY DISNEY BECAUSE THEYRE SELFISH!
@@-dtuyhnjhggvjjjn nice username did you make that 5 minutes ago?
Well its not great but if this is what it takes to keep the bears alive
Just about as good as I could hope for. Really enjoyed the setlist and had nice representation from so many bears.
CBJ used to be clever, original, and funny. Those days are over. My God, these executives are horrible. How can you ruin a great company so quickly?
Here’s my take on this retheme: I think it is passable. It is far from an ideal, but much better than I expected it to be. I was worried the characters wouldn’t even feel like themselves anymore, but they do. I just feels instead that they have a gun pointed at them to do something corporate and stale.
I’m beginning to believe who ever is in charge of Disney needs to stop ruining a classic show they keep changing things but not for the better I personally liked the old show 100 per cent more
This was maybe my favorite thing as a kid, but as a professional in high end concert sound, something had to be done. They could paint and re-fur. But the sound has been out of date for 20 years and the last few times I saw the show I thought they had to do something about the system and the 50 year old recordings. Could they have just re-recorded it with new actors? Sure, but that would have been a slap in the face to the greats that did this originally. Disney world is not a movie, it's live entertainment. It has to change and evolve or go away. I'm glad this one evolved and didn't go away like California! I think they did a great job with the, I'm sure, mandate from the company to use IP.
If old films have their soundtracks re-upped and remastered, there's no way that the old recordings couldn't be brought within a reasonable range of what's expected from modern standards.
I would think the technical is there to digitally remaster the old show as well.
Go listen to a “digital” update of Snow White or even jungle book which was a contemporary of the bears and tell me it sounds as good as Moana. Technology is good, but not that good. Maybe when AI can get involved and just remake the tracks instead of trying to improve the waveforms that are already there; but I stand by my statement and can’t wait to hear the new show.
8:32 Henry’s movements are so fluid!
I love it! What an incredible work! I laughed, I cried, I slapped people with fishes. Aside from ‘Try Everything’ all the songs fit really well and I burst out laughing when Big Al showed up. I was so happy to see Sammy pop up again, considering he was missing from the concept art. This is honestly the best thing to come out of WDI in a long time.
Same feelings on Sammie. I shed a little tear when he popped out the box. So happy that even he remained in the show! My only real complaint is I wanted the Sunbonnets to get their own song. Maybe that is something they could add in later!
Funny how that song was advertised the most
Oh boy they really put the right team on this. Absolutely wonderful update, no notes honestly, this is everything I could have wanted from the retheme. It only made sense to replace the country bears with songs everyone knows and loves, keeping it in the Disney theme with really great renditions. I'm very happy with this, can't wait to see it in person. I hope they're reading, well done Disney 🎉
I think they look amazing! I was smiling, clapping, and dancing the whole time! 👏🏼
6:10 dang bro chill 😂
I loved it! All the lovable bears we know and love are back and doing what they do best...make us tap our feet, clap our hands, and laugh along with them. :)
Im super critical of Disney recently and I love what they did with this show. One question though. Can you still hear the mounted animals blinking?
No, the clacking of the eyeblinks is gone, and they're silent now!
I'm crying. They actually improved something so well that I am almost forgetting the original. This gives me hope that not all is lost. Bravo, Disney!
As you come out and get ready to ride Splash M- oh right Tianas VQ Adventure
Honestly better than I thought it would be. Can’t wait for Tom’s Honest Review!
Anyone else feel like giving Big Al a hug 😂.
I was honestly expecting there to be more funny parts than there were. For me, the only redeeming things about this new version is that Big Al is still Big Al (😅 I will never not love that bear), that the last song is still the same as to give a nice nod to the old show. I had to do a double take when I heard Mineral Kings. I love that they put that in there!
Overall, was I was expecting it to be better? Yes. But that doesn't mean that it still can't be enjoyable and cute. ❤
Impressed, not bad.
Disney Imagineers hit this out of the park!!! It was so good to see the beloved bears in new costumes and getting the much love and attention they deserved. Even though it has evolved Walts dream lives on. I can't wait to see it for myself
Speaking of Walt: in the lobby, there’s a statuette of a bear with a tuba- it’s based off early CBJ art that Marc did, and one of the few sketches Walt himself saw. Specifically, Walt loved the tuba bear so much, and Marc said he wished he could’ve gotten it in the show for him. Walt’s Tuba Bear is finally home in Grizzly Hall!
@@charliemacsart I love it!!
I was so worried this thing would be bad, BUT WOW IS THIS GOOD! The humor is all there and the music is incredibly transformed. Ever since 2024 has begun, Disney has announced they’re getting rid of Lightning Lane, released three good, financially successful movies, and done this.
They are so back!
I didn’t want them to change it. And I still hold the original in my heart but I didn’t hate the new one. If changing it was the only way to keep it, then OK.
Country Philarmagic
I think that’s the best description of it. Unfortunately it’s not a good thing for me.
Minus the screens
The Mickey Mouse Revue inspired by the Country Bears
Probably the only time I’ve ever laughed and not started sobbing at remember me 😭😭
In the immortal words of Larry David “it’s pretty pretty pretty good.”
Loved it! I’ll be checking it out next time I’m in MK!
I love it! I surely cannot say that about many of Disney’s new or re-dos,
but this one, two thumbs up!
This was such a great update thank you Disney
I’m going to Disney world for the first time next year and was so sad I won’t get to experience the original but I’m still happy to see this! I think they did a great job.
To be Honest, the New Show wasn't so Bad! I Actually Liked it even though the Old Show was Better!
Thanks WDWNT team!! Can’t wait for yall to make jokes about this on WDW News Tonight!!!!
I can't lie, but in my opinion! This new updated country bear jamboree is like a better sequel just like rescuers down under! I mean i don't know how to explain this but what i mean is this was better as the original but with disney songs makes perfect sense!!!
Blood on the saddle tho…
Ok that was much better than I thought it would be. The smoking fiddle was great and Big Al still has his moment.
Well done, Imagineering! THIS is how you update a classic by KEEPING it classic!
Let’s just say they handled the bears batter than with the briar patch, luckily if a new CEO wished to bring back the original show they would just need to fix up the outfits, Sammy, some backdrops, liver lips, and reprogramming and bam easy fix with the new technology in the bears
Mineral Kings. Maybe I just don't remember the show referencing this before but what an Easter Egg to where the original Country Bears were supposed to debut. I love that stuff.
I LOVE that they put alot of familiar classic Disney songs in the show! SOOO nostalgic! 🥰 Cant help but to love all the bears!! 🐻🐻🐻🐻
I really like this show, although it’s not as iconic as the original one. But hey it takes time to get used to
I don’t hate it. At least they kept the last song. Exited to see it in person. ❤
