  • Just a stone’s throw from town is a high valley that funnels cool breezes from the peaks of the Ko‘olaus down to Honolulu. This valley is the site of the famous “Kaleleaka‘anae,” Kamehameha’s final, decisive battle to overtake Oahu... But it also contains the site of a few famous haunted houses. Nu‘uanu is our destination in this episode of Hawaii’s Most Haunted.

In this series, Lopaka brings you some of Hawaii's Most Haunted places.
Master storyteller, Lopaka Kapanui, brings to life the feared Night Marchers, the goddess Pele, Menehune, e‘epa, mo‘o and more. But… Hawaiian deities and spirits aren’t the only things residing in this island paradise. Here is also where the Japanese dog demons, the inugami, are sent to ruin the lives of unsuspecting families. Here is where the Filipino vampire-like creature, the aswang, roams in search of her next victim. And here is where the Portuguese witch, the feiteceira, spins her spells and curses at her whim. Rich in culture and traditions, these islands are overflowing with stories of ghosts and hauntings, creatures and curses. Lopaka is the keeper of these stories.
Beyond the cool, blue waters and balmy trade winds of our idealistic paradise is the thin veil that separates our world from the place where shadows talk back. Spirits, Ghosts, Legends, Facts... Experience the Hawaii most don't see every day.

Your book about the Night Warriors was a Christmas hit at our home in ATL! Got it for husband (who's a descendent of the ali'i) along with the long sleeved t-shirt and he wore it proudly! When he was stationed there in the 90s with the Marines, he did not know of his ancestry but said he always felt a spirituality there that he's never felt anywhere before, especially when travelling to the Nu'uanu Valley area but also when snorkling. He did not know how much of his family was from there, but I've corrected that for him! It's very, very special.

Do you mind if I ask who your husband is related to on da Hawaiian side? If you can't, it's okay 🤙

I would like you to do research at Waihee Valley on Maui. There are lots of haunting in this area. I use to live at 222 Waihee Valley Rd. Now my younger brother Kaniloa Kamaunu lives there. Check other neighbors that live in Waihee Valley Rd for more of haunting stories. The house I was raised has a lot of haunting stories. I am not should my brother and other neighbors will talk to you but there is no harm asking.
It’s okay to use my name (Ben Kamaunu). Remember---I was raised there with my mom and other siblings from 1964 to 1985. A lot of the old generation probably passed away. Well ---I always enjoy your haunting stories of Hawaii--Aloha from Kentucky

In the 1940s and 1950 i used to ride in a 1932 model T Ford in the rumble seat at night up and down the old Pali highway. They were interesting to say the least. No lights on the road and the cliff barrier wasn’t very high. Lots of tight turns.

I thought to myself that your background screen shot looked a lot like Nuuanu Valley Park behind Queen Emma Summer Palace! I used to do tai chi in the park there every Sunday 2 decades ago. The lower portion of the park though, below the basketball courts, I would never venture into as it has a different energy there.

Funny, my Mom said she sat in the car one night with my brother while my step dad played volleyball at that basketball court in da 80s and she sang a funny song about king Kamehameha and her jaw just locked up.

I lived on the lower part of Pali and was recording a video of my son in broad daylight and on the video you can see a white orb fly horizontal and then vertically up into our ceiling. It was so fast that when I actually catch and pause on it it is a round white orb. It wasn't floating but flying as if it was going somewhere.

I try not to look at the Queen Emma place every time i pass to drop off and pick up someone once a week but i noticed they've installed street cameras at the stop lights along the Pali facing all 4 directions at every intersection 🤔🤔🤔 its odd for the cams facing the connecting streets instead of just the main highway.
Anyways whoever is monitoring those cameras probably see some very unusual activies in nuuanu.

There’s even a camera on the H3. Halawa side if you’re coming from Kaneohe. Right in the middle of the freeway. What is camera doing out over there too? Lot of spirits in that valley as well

At 1:06, note the orb behind your left shoulder. Unless you know more about the photo and it can be debunked. Just starting your video, but had to stop and comment.
