    Here's an interesting fact for spider farms I discovered recently by looking at the pathfinding code (although this is probably not useful for you since I don't think you even have access to any "dangerous" blocks right now): putting dangerous blocks, like magma blocks, fire or soul fire, lava, cactus, etc. above any column of solid blocks will prevent mobs from pathfinding to them at all. If you do this with any solid blocks within a 31x15x31 area of the spiders, they will never climb on their own (the dangerous block generally needs to have air or something like a carpet or tripwire above it for this to work though - any block with no hitbox is also fine on top of it except for rails)
    Mostly useful for avoiding issues with spider spawner farms, but yeah
    also i feel like it'll be pretty cool to see the progression of the farms he builds over time as he gets access to new building blocks - we already have acacia => sandstone => prismarine

      The old way to do it was to have a second account in spectator mode. It's still valid but for the fancy angles and stuff they now use Replay Mod.

    if you get the silktouch book wouldn't you be able to make an ice farm and make ice tracks and use a chest in boat to transfer items across? or am i missing something

    It is absolutely wild to me that *ONLY* the "Old Growth Pine Taiga", and not even the other Old Growth Spruce Taiga, has a Zombie spawn weight of 100 instead of 95, and more importantly has a Zombie Villager spawn weight of 25 instead of 5. My assumption at first was that this was a reference to some genre of horror film or something, but seeing the Zombie weight at the generic default of 100 makes me wonder if this wasn't some oversight that has yet to be corrected or that no one has bothered to alter at this point. This fact wasn't highlighted as interesting anywhere on the Zombie Villager wiki page, nor mentioned outside of the mob spawn weight table on the Old Growth Taiga wiki page, though I think it probably should be mentioned in both page's "Trivia" section personally, if not explicitly highlighted elsewhere on the pages. There's always more to learn about this game I swear, anyway thanks for the knowledge and I'm loving this series

    I taught, that desert is nice for most mob farms, since zombies can only spawn with a lower chance and husks need sky access to spawn, making all the not zombie mobs more likely

    • @ilmango
      @ilmango  2 года назад +1

      that's true, but only if you want to get gun powder and bones. It has no advantage for a spider only farm, because we already prevent all zombies and other mobs from spawning
