    I just went grocery shopping and bought 3 of these beautiful plants from a vendor at the side of the road. They seem to be very healthy and I hope they do well. Love all the way from Jamaica

    Thank God for RUclips videos like this man makes. I planted some lavender this year with the bag around the roots--didn't know they were supposed to be removed because they appeared to be made from mesh, so I left them on. Plants are leaning as a result, but for the most part, are doing okay. Wish I had seen this video before I did the planting. Thank you, Urban Gardening. I am about to plant some vincas now.

    I live in Arizona I have 4 vincas. Colors are all magenta. My vincas survive in a 115 degrees dry heat my vincas is on the west side of my patio. The more sun the more it gives. Now it’s October they are very healthy. Vincas loves the dry heat. It produces a lot,of flowers. Now I just need to prune them

    Thank you for the Periwinkle video. I am new to gardening, and loving it so far. I have a slight run off problem in backyard, and like to control erosion through the mass planting of periwinkle. The area is about 80 ft long and about 20 in. wide (although I may make it a foot wider later). It is a stone bed. My friend planted Hostas, and Iris in there, and I had a few succulents too. I also just added Coneflower, and Switch Grass for erosion control. To me the marriage between these plants is just ok. I know I can make it better with more ideal companion planting. What I would love is to have periwinkle run the entire length of the area, with perhaps some potted plants here and there. But what else can I plant with the periwinkle. The area gets 8 plus hours of full sun, there is some shade that comes early to mid afternoon escaping off a neighbors tree. Would switch grass, or feather reed grass, or pompas grass, or even Hosta marry with periwinkle?
    Thank you for your time.

    Hello from Greece, I watch many of your videos, you are very helpful, thank you! I would like your opinion: I want to plant small perennial flowers (I like purple colour) around trees I keep in large pots. I don't want to do something that might hurt the trees, so I look for plants that don't have deep roots, I suppose? What would you think of vinca major, verbena, scabiosa, trailing rosemary and penstemon, for this purpose? Also please advise if I should not do this on trees that during winter don't need much water because they are dormant (throw all their leaves, like lilac or wisteria).

    I was recently gifted about 6 of these gorgeous flowers, as seedlings from a nursery .. & they've all got beautiful blooms on them.. so here's where my question comes in.. after the flowers are spent, if I leave the flower hips on the plant, will they produce seed, & if they do, will they be viable to grow into New plants? great video, you've earned a new subscriber!

    • @urbangardeningofficial
      @urbangardeningofficial  7 лет назад +4

      Painted Petals thank you for your comment..😊😊out of 30-40 flowers only 2-3 flowers will form seed pods .....yes you can easily collect seeds from the mature seed pods and later they can be sown in soil...they will germinate within 8-10 days...if seeds are not harvested in due time... they will drop on the soil bed and they will germinate by their own 😊😊🤗🤗🤗

    Dear sir, I have noticed in the video that you are using thermoflexi plastic pots, Can you tell us how these pots are doing since you are using these pots for almost 3 years? What is the average life of these pots? Can seasonal flowers like vinca, French marigold, petunia etc survive in these type of plastic pots? How is the drainage? How is the heat management during summer time? Are plants growing well or they have stunted growth? Please sir, if possible then kindly answer. BTW great tips on vincas I have done the same process which you have shown. Thank you.

    • @urbangardeningofficial
      @urbangardeningofficial  7 лет назад +2

      koonfun cheah thank you for your comment. 😊😊 water less... water only when top layer of soil feels dry to touch...leaves turn yellow n falls due to overwatering.....keep your vinca in full sunlight and add nitrogen potassium rich fertilizer after every 20-25 days for better health and big size flowers...give fertilizer according to the size of plant 2-3 tea spoon is enough ..tc happy gardening

    • @urbangardeningofficial
      @urbangardeningofficial  7 лет назад +1

      Smita Pushp thanks for your comment. 😊😊 yes vinca can be easily propagated through cuttings ...take 3-5 inch top cuttings with 2-3 leaves per cutting and stick them in the potting mix 1-1.5 inch deep in the potting mix... use 3 part sand and 1 part normal soil ....keep the mix moist all the time and place them in partial shade .......due to excess or overwatering they became dull and eventually they die so water them only when top layer of soil feels dry to touch....keep them in partial sun in hot summers...tc happy gardening

    Few days back I bought some same plants. Then after two days I placed them in large containers. Then next day I added some organic compost. But from last two days I m noticed that one of the plant's leaves are become withering. Please suggest something.

      Hybrid vincas are very sensitive plants... If thr root system get disturbed than they will die... Be careful with them... Do not water the foliage n water only when soil dry up

      Mrs Harper thanks for your comment. 😊😊🤗 pinch just before the second node from the top ...as it will force new growth from the second node 😊
