  • Prairie Quilts showcased the work of contemporary North Dakota quilters who express their creative impulses through needle, thread and fabric. Host Virginia Dambach visited three of the state's quilt shows to highlight some of the works of art and comfort made by the work of women's hands.
    Producer/Editor Kim Stenehjem
This Prairie Public Classic documentary was first aired in 1999.

So soothing. Beautifully done. I absolutely love the choices of quilts, music, and the soothing voice of the narrator. I could listen to this forever.

Thank you very, very much. This is NOT the biggest, most of this, best of that, latest and greatest, highest levels, amazing this or that --instead, this is the depth and love of the art, the deepest and most beneficial of a beautiful art.

Wow! What a group of talented Textile artists....the farm scene in shadow of the man, his team, and the plow reminded me of my grandpa; and all the so many other visually stunning designs. Thanks for the eye candy!!!

The Mary Chalmer's quilt looks like the ones you find in the North of England called Durham or North County quilts. They are whole clothe quilts and are very highly prized. The video is so wonderfully done and it is my new favorite! I think it is the best one on RUclips about quilts!

I wish this had close captioning. The quilts are so beautiful but I missed a lot of what was being said.
