Women in peri/menopause need saturated fats. They help regulate our hormones. In fact, people of all ages need saturated fats. The problem with these fats occurs, if one doesn't eat an otherwise healthy, whole food diet.
Thanks for the information. I've been having hot flashes for some time now, it is frustrating. I like your kitchen, it's big and there's lots of light.
Amazing info, explained so well! Love to see other women sharing info on similar topic to me! its so important that women help each other through this stage of our lives, thank you for sharing :)
too many things to remember, can I just take a pill? what supplement can I take? actually brocolli makes me bloated too and I fart. I started this bloating problem just last year. 44
I appreciate the content. Thank you. The only thing. The way you were delivering the information in the video was different. It’s like you are shouting from across the room at me. 😅
You said you work in New York can you tell me when your office is I would love to come to see you. I've been looking for a dietitian for years I'm 58 years old I'm in full menopause and I eat healthy all the time and I'm not losing any weight I don't understand it I don't exercise that could be part of it all I eat is broccoli asparagus brussel sprouts protein beans eggs cheese I don't understand it
For exercise, don’t overdo cardio. Plain old power walking works. Focus on building muscle (resistance training, weight lifting). Start slow to avoid injury. I would recommend watching your carbs (keep them to around 50 net grams daily most days) and focus on getting enough protein to stave off the loss of muscle. Lost muscle as we age makes our metabolism tank. Aim for a minimum of .8 grams per pound to 1 gram per pound of your ideal body weight.
I am 46 years old and suffer from hair fall... Since 2014 I have hair fall every year for 4 months. But this year my hair fall is continuing since last 7+ months. I consulted a dermatologist and he had asked me to take birth control pill as I am approaching menopause and it will increase my estrogen. But my gynaecologist says I should not take birth control pill at this age as it's not safe. So i would like to know whether any supplements will increase estrogen and help stopping hair fall. Please help I take flaxseed, pumpkin seed, fish, walnut, Greek yogurt daily. I also have hypothyroidism and avoid soy. Thanks
Talk to your doctor about if hormone replacement therapy would be useful for you. But first, get bloodwork done to check your iron and insist on the exact results, even if in the range of normal. My bloodwork came back as normal, but when I checked the numbers myself, my iron was at the lowest number in the range of normal. That’s not good enough for me. I started a gentle iron supplement, and my hair loss slowed, and my insanely heavy periods are more manageable now. Also make sure to get enough biotin for your hair. I supplement.
My hair was falling too and I saw a huge improvement when I started eating more protein and increased the consumption of healthy fat such as avocado, olive oil, walnuts, almonds and salmon. Everyone is different, but I’m sharing with you what have helped me.
I stopped listening at 1 minute. For starters, that voice OMG. Second, and more importantly, wrong use of terminology. Menopause does not start 12 months after the last bleeding, it Is the 12 months after the bleeding. Anything after that is called postmenopause
This video is woeful... The shouting, the awful background music and most of all the opinion that fat is bad... Keto is life changing and includes lots of fat
The vitamin D (D3) that she mentioned is super important. It helps the body use calcium so that it’s not causing other problems for the arteries and kidneys. Just get your calcium from food sources and be sure to take vitamin D3, at least 4,000 IU daily (this will help reduce the risk of osteoporosis as well, which is a risk for those with kidney transplants). The 600 IU she mentioned is barely enough for those at risk of osteoporosis. Most supplements have a minimum of 1000 IU.
I'm just starting perimenopause. I feel so tired, bloated, and of course I have started gaining weight!!!! I'm getting depressed 😔

Check out Brown and Medina RDN in Manhattan. You may like working with them.

This is the LAST kind of video a woman going through peri menopause wants to watch! 😒
This video is woeful... The shouting, the awful background music and most of all the opinion that fat is bad... Keto is life changing and includes lots of fat
I really wanted to listen to this but why is she shouting? Can’t tolerate that.
At 2:01 , I stopped watching when she said milk and milk products..
What about when you gave a kidney transplant , we are it allow to gave so much calcium , lord help me 🤔

Blah blah blah. Are you serious! Are you actually in menopause or reading from a text book. FFS 🤦♀️
Not great, to be honest..
I wouldn't ever recommend soy, unless it's very small amounts of organic soy.
