    I have been using the @ZWILLINGUSA Fresh & Save food storage system for over 3 months now (at the time of publishing this video) and I can honestly recommend this product. We use it for EVERYTHING and it has replaced our larger, bulkier food vacuum sealer. And we produce less plastic waste than ever before!
    What food storage system do you use???
    I appreciate you!

    I just purchased the same set mostly to use with freezing coffee beans. After about three months of research I finally convinced myself freezing coffee beans was a good idea. Highly recommend this product. Also, great video. It was fun to watch.👍

    Great video ! Thanks ! I had a Polyscience vac for a number of years that was extremely flexible but large and cumbersome for my kitchen. I switched to an Avid Armor vacuum chamber that I absolutely love because of it's ability to seal soups etc. I use my chamber constantly for leftovers as well as bulk buying. The small chamber led me desiring more especially for Sous Vide cooking which has led me to this Zwilling sealer. As I write this, I have trusted the sealer with my 4 lb. very expensive prime rib in my Anova sous vide. With the bags from Zwilling I was able to seal the large roast and plop it in the bath. Sweet ! I can see that the ease of use with this handheld will be a welcome addition to my cooking and storing repertoire.

    I use a similar system by a company called CASO, also a German brand. What I do to save some money on the containers: I use one of the larger ones that fits jars in it (twist of jars jam comes in or even mason jars) and vacuum the jars in there. Works a charm. We buy spices in bulk and I mix a lot of my BBQ rubs myself, seal it in a jar and it lasts forever. And doing it that way rather than using the big vac sealer we also have: I can vacuum liquids without the kitchen needing a deep clean 🙂

      This sounds like an amazing tip but I don't quite understand. Do you mean you put the glass jar in a large vac bag and vac the air out then put the lid back on when it's still in the bag? Use vac bags and would love to vac glass jars just not sure how I'd put the lid back on as the vac system sucks out everything and there's no way to get the lid on the jar. What am I missing? Thanks and really hope you reply as this could be a game changer.

      Good point about the plastic lid on the glass containers.
      I would assume it's BPA free since the description on the website says the plastic containers are BPA free polypropylene plastic, and that presumably includes the lid.

    How are the bags lasting? I had a similar bag system called Ziplock many years ago but the seals of bags didn't last very long. Some were faulty from first use, most just lost their seal so became useless, not great quality.

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  16 дней назад +2

      Great question, the bags last a very long time as long IF I don't use them in the sous vide bath. I have found when I use them in conjunction with sous vide cooking, i get around 4-5 cooks with 1 bag before the zip top begins to detach from the bag. I don't have any other cooking experience with sous vide as far as other solutions go, so I don't really have a comparison. If I only use the bags for freezer storage or marinading, I haven't had to replace them, yet.

    I have a chamber vacuum sealer, and the only prob is when you want to seal soft items, such as bread, which gets crushed. A hard container is perfect.

    • @cliffcox7643
      @cliffcox7643 3 месяца назад +1

      i found the answer. a plastic box inside a sealer bag

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  3 месяца назад +2

      You could also just freeze the bread in a bag first, then vac seal it after it's been in the freezer for 24 hours. You should also do that with meats as well so they keep their shape and don't get their juices squeezed out.

    • @BeergrYT

      Not the smell of the fish, but if you have a strong smelling marinade, that can stick with the bags for some time. But, I just keep certain bags for marinades only.

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  2 месяца назад

      Absolutely it has! I have a follow up review video on their dry storage containers coming as well. The only CON that I have experienced is when you use the bags multiple times to store and also use them for the sous vide cooking. After several sous vide cooks, the "seal" on the bags can begin to come off. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of

    Do the plastic bags hold the vaccuum? I have some but they leak in air.

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  4 месяца назад +4

      I’ve had some lose air but I’ve realized that usually happens when I forget to push the little red button down after vac sealing. It doesn’t push down like an actual button but I noticed when I forget to do that, my bags lose the seal. I also make sure to use the little black bag sealer as well to get the best seal on the top.
      I’ve had two bags lose the “zip lock” style seal on top after several sous vide cooks. Something to be aware of

  • @lueri5659

    I am having problems with several of the bags sealing properly. I press the red button afterwards very hard and make sure sealed as well

    • @BeergrYT
      @BeergrYT  3 месяца назад

      Your set should have come with a little black clip looking thingy. That is for sealing the zip top part fully. I will say, I have only had to use that a couple times but after using the bags for sous vide, I noticed the zip top portion starting to come loose after about 5-6 cooks.

    • @lueri5659
      @lueri5659 3 месяца назад

      @@BeergrYT I do use the black zip and my hands too and then puts button super firmly after sealing as well but when go to get next so many of them aren’t sealed. Maybe they just don’t last long but that’s disappointing because I love and need them
