The cheapo RC is not that bad but keep in mind that Pat did it with a much much smaller tire.

Do this challenge again with either 2.2s on both or 1.9s on both. I'm sure the results will be different. Even though the Remo had bigger tires it still definitely is an impressive truck for 200$. New servo and you'd have a pretty fun crawler!
I have the Remo hobby with the other shell, they're a very capable truck and most axial parts fit straight on them too. You cannot go wrong for the money. More Crawler vids would be nice, really enjoyed this :)
@@PatsRC Yes Pat, you didn't look that impressed it was beating the TRX4 mate. That aside though you where only running 1.9 wheels and the Remo has 2.2 on it so clearance was better for climbing higher obsticles, steep climbing is where you shone with the lower center of gravity and more weight.

@@PatsRC It's got a LOT to do with tire size. A lot of pro crawlers refer to 2.2 as "training wheels" because they don't require much skill to navigate obstacles.

It seems to be very capable, but put a brushless motor in it and jump the green building to test it's toughness.

@@AW-Luke i 100% agree, however for 200 price range that remo is very good for the price, personally a few upgrades and you've got a helluva goos truck for 400 to 600 if you go all out with upgrades

Yeah the bigger higher ones can get over almost anything no problem so it's kinda hard for something small and low like the trx4
If the trx4 had larger wheels it would probably demolish the other one

Angela Kogut I have a revo 2.0 and it is a blast. I haven’t broke any rods but I have bent them. It is tough. Not much survives the special kind of abuse kev puts them through. I have a tech review on my channel. I also full throttled into a cement square without knowing it was there and really dented my front skid plate, but that was all. No broken parts. I really recommend it.

impressed with the cheap crawler but it really wasn't a fair comparison as the 2.2' on the cheapo gives it a BIG advantage over the scale 1.9's on the rocks and obstacles.

kev, you should also replace the motor in the car next to the servo, because then it has more speed and then it should be able to do what the trx4 did in that sandcanyon

If the radio is the same as the Remo Smax, then there should be a steering controller knob on it. It will adjust the steering to make it much better. The couple SMax trucks I have we're way bad too out of the box.

500 dollar crawler with 150+ dollars in mods vs stock 200 dollar. Those tires i think gave it a huge advantage for most of those obstacles

You need to give the ftx outback 2 another go in a better involvement than the work shop. Very under rated crawler! Great for the money with little mods it can be fantastic

You should get a redcat Everest 10 it was my first crawler and the best one I ever had so much articulation long long shocks all metal everything just a good rig
I love that rig, I have one that has the scx10 framerail mod. It is a fun truck with great price. Wonder why kev never does anything with redcats

Y’oughta try putting some lead weights on the axles of that Remo, and see how it does then.
Latrax prerunner, please get it and put a brushless set in it a 54t spur gear and 14t pinion. I made mine go almost 50mph

You should check out the FTX Mauler Crawler. It's an excellent rig, and very cheap, only around 200 euros
You could get the traxxas ones or the Teamraffee co ones of Asia tees for the trx4

People says it's not a fair comparison. There both stock out of the box. that's as fair as you can get for a customer purchasing one or the other.

Well pat had smaller tires, and the cheapo has bigger tires making it easier.
Everyone saying that Kev compared a 2.2 tire vehicle versus a 1.9 tire vehicle and I think the reason why he did that is because the Traxxas has portals and the other one doesn't so I think Kevin was trying to find a way to equal the two out. As far as the remo hobby goes anybody that says yeah it looks pretty impressive your damn right it's pretty impressive because it's literally axial SCX10. Like literally it is messy X10 clone made out of almost the exact same component in almost the exact same grade quality component so that's why it does so well you can find them as low as $55 right now so as far as the best cheap RC goes right now I'd say it's probably this truck

As much as I love my TRX4 it does suffer when starting climbs at steep angles due to the bumpers sticking out so far! If they brought the front and rear bumpers in a bit, the TRX4 in these spots would do so much better! It is a real handicap problem when the TRX4 has to angle itself to start the initial climb, than have to straighten itself out, because of this bumper problem.
If you were to add a stronger servo and make it 8s, it would be unstoppable 😂 and could put the Xmax to shame 😂😂😂 BTW love your videos

2.2's are a big advantage though... swap tyres next time around and see the TRX-4 slay all..... its all relative.. can make a $100 crawler better than most with enough $$... you need weight in the right place, grip everywhere, locked diffs and a driver that understands what RC crawling is all about... Love the Remo Hobby cars but they're better ones out there... 2.2" tyres if you need more performance and really read the reviews a there are soooo many crappers out there!
Did you ever consider that it has dual rates? Maybe that's the problem with the steering
