I have a Canon MG5450 with the same cartridges you have. Got them from ebay. The same blue cartridge gives the error 1414 "not recognized". The cartridge is full. I've pulled it out and back in numerous times. Same error 1414. It refuses to auto reset. It did work for over 1 year though. Can I force reset it somehow or is it dead and damaged beyond repair? Thanks!
Lsiten, this video helps to fix this kind of code, thing is, if you are using a continous system, make sure that the ink tank is filled with ink other wise you will get the message.
Yes, this is refill of cartridges with AUTO-RESET chips - so the video really doesn't tell you anything. The method for most Canon auto-reset chips is simply take out, put in (and ofcourse refill in between). If the printer displays an error, the most likely explanation is that the chip is used up (if with maximum number of resets - some chips does have this) or simply broken, and must be replaced. I expect a chip resetter will follow soon - those work much better than the auto reset chips, as you simply refill original (preferrably XL) cartridges, reset the chip, and print on.
