Just got done reading Rule 1 a few weeks ago. Big Lots (BIG) is my favorite value stock right now. They are going through a significant turnaround and is primed to catch wall street off guard.
@@joephysics5469 I suggest checking out their 10k to see how they are conducting the turnaround. I am not sure about how I feel with their sale leaseback, but it was a necessary step to carry out “Operation North Star”. Also don’t get fooled by their super low pe from the sale. They are still undervalued though.
Thank you for your videos, Uncle Phil. I've been watching for a few weeks and I've learned so much. You also partly helped me get a new job that pays over 40% more than my current job. There was an assessment as part of the interview process. The assignment was to write a paragraph on *any* topic. I wrote about the importance of compound interest! Thank you for the amazing lessons. You may have inadvertently helped me get a higher paying job. 😂
It doesn't seem like many investors bother to look at any of the technical analysis behind a stock's valuation these days, but I like that you're using the free cash flow in yours. Great video.
Turtle Beach! Ticker symbol HEAR. Great numbers all around, and a brand and secret moat in an industry going through an event and has nowhere to go but up!
There is a spread of values that our group cam up with. 160 to 180 is our consensus. The CCP is certainly not making us feel comfortable about owning chinese stocks. China is not as western as most believe. If you have not studied their culture in depth you may be in for a wild ride.
@@PassiveIncomeGeneratorPIG hello. I calculated MOS before last BABA report, so things have changed since then. But anyway, here the numbers: Current EPS: 10.18 (EPS (TTM) from Zacks) Future Growth Rate (%): 16.75 (I think it's approximately right, because during the past 13 years the lowest Book Value Per Share Growth Rate was 17.40% per year) Future PE: 33.5
Thanks for your great videos including this one. For the sake of consistency, shouldn't the free cash flow be compared to enterprise value (= market cap + debt - cash) rather than market cap (i.e. stock price)?

Small caps aren't followed as much by analysts because they are too big to take a position so it's easier for a small investor to find cheap small stocks.
Unless you have a problem with the ethics of tobacco companies and the slightly high debt numbers but they have always been like this. When was the last time you heard of a tobacco company going bust?
Tobacco is still a commodity and that means there's no moat. Marlboro vs Camel vs Newport, they're all doing the same thing. Besides ingredient blend, there's virtually no difference in product. No single company has an advantage over the others and that makes it a bad investment. Wall Street hates uncertainty and the likelihood of Marlboro (owned by Altria Group: MO) losing market share to any of the other hundred cigarette companies is reason enough for these stocks to never be value plays. There may be brand loyalty but you dont want to rely on that
Two companies I lost in the 2020 recession,Home Depot and Nike, I didn’t get the margin of safety but 6/8 I’ll take that. I’ll see y’all next recession lol
We do rough estimates of all three of those valuation methods quickly and then dig deep into the company to learn more. Then we return to the financials to get a better valuation.
Doing a valuation on an insurance company is complicated. If you can do it all I can say is - wow. BABA is a wonderful company with a lot of extrinsic issues - namely the CCP.
Phil bought Baba recently... I was delighted to find out because they are my absolute favourite company in the market by a mile and I am loading the boat since last December. . .
I'd love to see how we'd analyze an older company that recently went public. Academy Sports & Outdoors (ASO) looks underpriced right now, but since it IPOed last year, I'm not so confident. It is an older company, though. I think it was founded in the 1930s.
So many people lose thousands and thousands of dollars thinking the market is about to crash. Just always buy. Believe me Vasyl, you can’t time the market.

Hey Phil, do you have any additional stock investing courses that you would recommend other then your won?
Books are helpful as well.
Thanks
ROIC and ROE progression is dizzying

I use the Tradingview one. Do you recommend a better one?
How do you access that?

I agree.
My quick look at it has me interested. Time to dig deeper.
well, not bad company. But their Revenue Growth is bad. Only in 2021 it's more than 10%. My calculation shows that it's MOS 39.

a solid return on investment in yourself :)
Fantastic! Well done. Now the extra income and the investing knowledge will compound even more!
I never look at free cash flow and price ratio. I am going to add that to my checklist too!

Why on earth would you use a graph that shows the public's SENTIMENT about the company to value a company???
As Phillip Fisher once said, "The stock market is filled with individuals who know the price of everything, but the value of nothing."
Turtle Beach! Ticker symbol HEAR. Great numbers all around, and a brand and secret moat in an industry going through an event and has nowhere to go but up!
Ok, numbers are not so great, maybe not bad for last three years. If you look 5,7,10 years ago numbers of ROIC, EPS, Sales etc. they are catastrophic.
Your advice is pure gold
Hi Phil! I've been looking at SPWH. Do you have any thoughts on that one?
I used Phil's Margin of Safety Calculator and MOS for BABA is 198. It's 196.49 now. What a great bargain.
Hi there, may I know the numbers you used in getting the MOS? The one I got seems to be lower than that.

Free Cash Flow to Price Ratio...is that the 10 Cap you talk about in "Invested"?
Got to be careful with zombie companies due to the fed’s money printing efforts. Also, with value traps. Anyhow very nice video thanks Phil!

He uses it at the end of the analysis. Here He is talking about the screen phase

Mi first target after your lessons is MFC right besides BABA

Found one for you Phil… BABA, what do you think?
Really undervalued bought small percentage today, sucks is Chinise company but really big moat imo

What’s the website address again
Hi Phil you ask for tip , let me give you one great compamy QDEL is now on sale
It got a huge covid bump. Before that it looks kind of iffy.
BABA! I would've bought around the same time as you did!
Word is that Phil only traded it and didn't load up on it.

It's real hard to get the numbers from before the IPO. That usually makes a stock too hard to understand.
There is no company like that
