I'd say whether you pay the extra for the Boost model depends almost entirely on your preference for torque sensing over cadence sensing. The boost button itself looks a bit gimmicky to me; you can always drop down a couple of gears and pedal harder!
I'm sure both versions of the L20 are equally good in actual use.
The Boost has only the one colour option, but it's a very nice colour!
    😊

The boost button sounds very useful to me. Adds 25nm of torque. So can do steeper hills. Should accelerate faster with more nm too. Have to admit the one colour option wasn't great but luckily I like the green lol. Once it comes I'll do a full review and test it. I don't have an L20 but it should function like the Engine X as same power. So will compare the L20 boost to my Engine X :)

Can you confirm that it can be unlocked (speed limit, turn on throttle and cruise control) just like the regular L20 once you get it? Thank you very much.

@@everythingfelixstowevideo328 are you on the UK site? The EU one won't deliver. Although the UK site is currently showing no stock.
Engwe support can probably tell you more 🙂

I don’t see why one would get the boost over the normal l20 for that “boost” button because simply unlocking the speed limit and throttle on the normal l20 will do the same thing and for cheaper. Plus the boost only comes in one color..
With that said, if you unlock the l20 boost it should have a bit of an edge when going uphill but honestly I think it’s a bit bs, this thing was only made to be “legal” towards EU regulations.. they market it as such, of having this boost legal on city road and locked at 25km/h. Now if you unlock the l20 with its motor that’s actually not a real 250w you get the same acceleration.
It definitely needs a review and comparison of both models fully unlocked but I think I have well understood the deal, that’s it’s simply to propose something with more acceleration while still being legal.
I think I’m gonna go for the l20, Ive spent 3-4 days searching for the best compact city bike and at the cheapest price, I think this is the one. I don’t care going 40km/h, 30km/h on the city road is all one needs, going faster than that becomes very dangerous with all the traffic and unpredictability

To be honest, If you look at the l20, Engine X, Ep2 pro, Engine pro specs, They all state 50nm of torque (ish) The Engine pro 2 states 75nm. Also they all state 10 degree hill climb. But the boost says 17.8 degrees (with boost). So I do think they replaced the motor to probably the Engine pro 2.0 new motor and then programmed it to limit it.
I'd guess top end speed wont change (unlocked), Just a bit faster acceleration and more pulling power up hills.
Then there is the torque sensor, so the motor should activate sooner and easier.
I've never had the L20 and not anywhere near a big enough channel to get sent bikes to test lol. But I have the Engine X. That is basically the same motor and sensor as the original L20. So when I review my L20 boost, I will compare it to my Engine X :)

Once you ride a bike with a torque sensor, you’ll never go back. Much better.
