I'm assuming you had finished or nearly finished tracks to work with and you were punching in drums? Yeah, that's a tough situation. When you're playing with people live in the studio, there's a give and take between the musicians that allows you to be more relaxed and dynamic. When it's all pre-recorded the time and dynamics are written in stone; You either go with that or it's not "right". Not an easy gig.

I forget exactly where I was in the session. I was filming a lot of the time. The music I was recording to made the whole thing inspiring even though I was playing alone. It was fun and challenging. Sometimes as a session musician you don't get the pleasure of a great recording to create to and you still have to do you job to the best of your ability. Steve only sends me great stuff to play on so I am very blessed. Cheers!

Even the pros struggle with timing and dynamics. Yet alone anything else like song structure, etc.

I would prefer some paistes do the work in both setting.. a mix of 602 602 m2 2002 and 2002 black beat would have done the trick better in my opinion
