    Otsu is just one train stop away from my former home for a year, Yamashina, Kyoto. :( You made me miss Kansai so bad. I visited Otsu, Kusatsu, and Hikone in Shiga while I was living in Kyoto, but I never got to do anything summer-y at Lake Biwa. 😂 You're such a friendly person; I enjoyed this video a lot! ☺️

    • @Ciaela
      @Ciaela  7 лет назад +6

      I feel like in Japan there's two types of "dogs". Lots of places that claim to be "dog friendly" really only mean "smol puppers" and when you bring something like a Shiba or Golden Retriever along they're like "oh heck."

    I love this video, so beautiful! Thank you Micaela :D I'm surprised to see teppanyaki. I've tried it in Australia where they claimed it was a Japanese thing, but then I watched a video by Rachel and Jun where they said teppanyaki was just a fusion/western thing that didn't really exist in Japan :o

    • @Ciaela
      @Ciaela  7 лет назад +1

      +Ostekagerne8D It exists, but it's a very high class meal and not really something that people in our age range (20-30) would frequent. Also it's possible that Nagoya isn't famous for their beef so they are less likely to have high class beef restaurants around?
      I've learned over the years that it's hard to make broad observations about Japan based on what you know, since every area of Japan is slightly different.
      I've only been to Teppanyaki about 3 times in my life though. It's really a luxury for those with money for special occasions :)

    • @Ciaela

      +Shin Kansen unfortunately my schedule was packed and as long as nobody wants to pay for an extra cameraman to come with me I can only shoot so much while also speaking to people and learning what they have to say... i carry two cameras but I have a hard time using them to my full ability. These days I'd like to make better content but it's really hard when it's just me in the field.

    • @vp4744
      @vp4744 7 лет назад

      Yeah I understand. I meant it as generic comment about all j-logs not panning enough and showing the atmosphere around. Maybe it has to do with trying not to upset the locals. I don't know if there are any restrictions or cultural taboos. But you do a great job just by yourself. I can see that's a hard skill, takes years to master and become fluent.
