I love this video idea! The reactions are great. One recommendation to make it even better is to show the video of John Butler playing it since at least a third of the beauty of the song is in watching him play it with passion!
Check out Valley by John Butler similar song. I was lucky enough to have a private concert from John when he did sound check at Woodford festival played 3 songs to an entire amphitheatre with only 5 people.
This is my favorite song of all time, I like the live at Fuji 2010 one best, but I never truly realized.. Without seeing him playing it, you'd never think it was one guy and a guitar.
i have probably listened to ocean more than 100 times now , i also was able to completly learn the song on guitar . i still love listening to this masterpiece .
Good reaction guys. John Butler is immensely talented. Ocean is one of the special pieces of music that brings peace and joy all at the same time. I highly recommend you check out some of his other music.
Yes my guys I love this video. Just for ur own reference, John has been perfecting this piece over many many years…IMO he hit perfection with Ocean live at federation square…when you watch it you’ll see what I mean 🥰 otherwise guys I love that you two do this….may I also suggest Stormzy- Vossi bop
Some suggestions, bc I'm a proud Aussie: Matt Corby: Brother, Like a Version version: Guy Sebastian, Battle Scars, Anzac Day live version: Tommy Emmanuel, Classical Gas, any version I guess: Billy Thorpe, Mama live on TV, but bc it seems so few people have heard of him outside of Aus, give anything from him a go.
Mate I'm two minutes into the reaction and I really wish you'd pointed out to your dad in the intro that it was one dude and a guitar and a couole of pedals. Maybe it's referenced later 👍
It doesn't matter how many times I've heard this song over the last 11yrs, I always get chills head to toe & tears in my eyes.
Ive listened to this song hundreds of times including a few live shows and it still hits so hard. What a masterpiece.

You should try the " John Butler Trio - Solo Guitare " version on youtube. The best one but like the Ocean it's never the same.
For more Butler, check out his cover of Kev Carmody's “Thou Shalt Not Steal”.
