Helpful video, What are your thoughts on using a blending stump (or other material) to blend the graphite lines? Some artist argue that cross hatching shading is too tedious and does not result in transitions as smooth as those achieved using a blending stump.

Stumps are fine, just different feel and look. I don't strive for realism so the smooth shading is not that important to me. I like the strokes.
