    This is my favourite board, it's so fun to ride it in city.
    Impressive switching from goofy to normal and back! I'm doing mongo instead, but I like to learn switching to my other leg.

    Hey technical question is the kicktail long enough to pick up the board?
    The ember was pretty good for that but this one looks really short

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  6 месяцев назад

      Pranayama's tail is too short (no tail) 😅. Now I pick it up by taking up a ring (an accessory of washing machine pipework) attached to the front.

      @@HarryLamHK Clever 😁I might go for the Ember Eternal which seems to have a bit of a kicktail. On my commute I kick up the board up several times so it may be a good choice. Thanks for your advice bro 👊

    Do you find that the Pranayama deck is lower to the ground than the ember and has this made pushing easier?

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  2 года назад +5

      ys, Pranayama is lower. 1.3 inch vs 0.75 inch cresent drop. I can push much faster too!

  • @JChou1986

    Have you ever fallen over because of a pebble or plant seed jamming your front wheel? How do you stop this from happening?

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  2 года назад +1

      Ys, in October last year, I tripped by a plant seed and got skin injuries: photos.app.goo.gl/KdpJMHXuQaarR4Pq8
      I wore gloves for a few months after that😂
      If you are cruising at night on a dark and rough concrete road, the risk of tripping is quite high. You should:
      - Wear protective gear
      - Reduce the cruising speed
      - Use a torch
      - Pay extra attention to the road condition

    • @JChou1986
      @JChou1986 2 года назад +1

      @@HarryLamHK Thank you for sharing! I also fell over a plant seed recently much like you even though I was also on 85mm cags.
      I have done some research to find out how to reduce this risk, another way is apparently to shift more weight to the back wheels to 'let the front wheels roll over the seed'. I'm not sure how effective it is..
      I found your channel looking for people cruising on the Drop Cat and have enjoyed your relaxing cruising videos greatly! Looking forward to more cruising videos :)

    Would it make any sense to own both the Trip and the Pranayama? I love my Trip but think I want it lower. Thoughts? Thanks.

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  Год назад +1

      I think Trip is already very low enough. One of the main pros of Trip is that it has better control due to RKP trucks. If you don't mind the little larger dimension, I suggest choosing Trip👍🏻 (For me, if they had equally compact size, I would have chosen Trip)

    Love the video! Its Inspiring and I want to learn to switch from regular to goofy like you do. I dont feel comfortable pushing mongo. I recently started riding about 4 months ago so I don’t commute or go very far yet. I like the handle for this board. Where did you get it?

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! Once you have learnt push switch, your lower body muscles will be trained equally. Then you can hold a stable squat position that your body center of gravity will be so low. Hence, you will be able to push very hard and fast. Aim for it and work hard. My handle was designed for eskate call "Exway". My handle was broken recently. It is the second one. Therefore I don't recommend installing any handle because I believe that all handles will be broken eventually despite of its hard metal body.

    Hi Harry. Watched your video on the Ember breaking, which you then replaced with the Pranayama. Was wondering if you considered the Zenit AB (2.0, 3.0) and if you did, why you chose the Pranayama over them. Great channel BTW. Have been enjoying your commutes. Cheers!

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for your appreciation. I chose Pranayama because Zenit decks are not as compact as Pranayama. Except for the dimension, they are attractive in that they support larger 90mm wheels.

    What made you chose this board over the Eternal Ember and did you specifically choose these wheels or where they the stock wheels for this board? Curios about your reasoning behind your choices :-)

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  2 года назад +2

      The kicktail of Eternal Ember is much longer and it will scratch the road when I am walking and hauling the board. Pranayama has a longer wheelbase with no kicktail. It is more stable and has higher portability for daily commuting.

      @@HarryLamHK That's great info! The price isn't really a big issue but I'll look into the size comparison. @@basselsabubgarcia9195 Thanks for your appreciation! I think that handles cannot be used as toe stop. Instead, installing handles on the tail can be use as a kicktail to pick up the board, but it may obstruct the rear foot especially if the standing area is small.

  • @MayhemJack
    @MayhemJack 2 года назад

    How do you get up surfaces and sidewalks without a kicktail? Can you even ollie this thing? Want a solid commuter but where I live and the route I travel, I need to be able to go up and down surfaces. The alternative would be to actually skate on the main roads, which, considering the kind of drivers here, I'm not ready for. I currently skate on a Landyachtz Dinghy, but have been wanting to try longboarding for a while, and not just for the commute, to have fun and do tricks too. Would you recommend it for my situation? Thanks.

    • @HarryLamHK
      @HarryLamHK  2 года назад +1

      I think only longboards with top mount deck can make ollies. Crossing curbs is a hard job for me. I will cut-in with 45°, or just jump off the longboard to let the longboard go up the curb without my weight and then I jump back on it. For the high curbs, I can only stop skating and pick up my longboard. If you like kicktails, Pantheon Eternal Ember should be a good choice. It has s double drop design for distant pushing, and usable kicktails for nimble manipulation. But I have no experience in using kicktail, so my advice is limited.

    • @MayhemJack
      @MayhemJack 2 года назад +1

      @@HarryLamHK Hey Harry, thanks for sharing! I will look into this further. It seems Hong Kong is a good city for longboarding as you have those bike lanes. My city is not so kind, I need maneuverability and the ability to react quickly in a life or death situation, which I've been in many times. The Ember looks great, though, will research it some more---thanks! Love your videos, by the way, very relaxing. 🙂
