I too have bought this bass....the guy who owned it had warwick bell brass frets installed along with a brass nut.....i paid very little for it but what a bass it is!!.....lovely low action, great tone and at 4.2kgs a decent weight.....a keeper for sure.

I bought one just to have something to take on vacation to the beach due to having only higher end boutique basses ( I only own 4 basses) 2 alembic's 1999 & 2006 1 Lakeland & 1 F bass I'm also a lefty. My dad owns a beach house and I'm having to spend lots of time there and don't want salt air affecting my basses, so I purchased TRB5 ii japan from 1999 just to have to play their and I bought it online so I didn't get to play it first. I did however research them as much as possible, but when I got it I was so so impressed with it that I have not been able to set it down! I'm not sure if it's paired up with the best amp for it (Hartke 410XL 4.5 & Eden WT-800 hybrid) but it has this particular Tone I've always desired and kind of settled with getting close to it for years but this bass actually has the right tones for my taste. It's my favorite bass to play through the eden/Hartke amp

I have the fretless version of this. Same color and everything. Mine was made in 1999, though.
