This one has to be one of the best ones,,,the white patches on it replicate the sun shine on leaves etc,,,,goes to show the Krauts got it right back then.
This is the first video I have not been able to pick you out in a single cut. Best camo I've seen so far for your area. The colors are perfect for the light patches and dark patches from the sun shining through the trees breaking up the sunlight.
It never seems to amaze me how often we think new is better. This proves that all the billions of dollars spent on modern military camo could have been saved if only designers just when back to the original ideas. Thanks for making the video Brent.
The Germans were ahead of their time with camo, especially in employing it in such numbers as they did. One of my personal favourites because it not only works great but is very aesthetically appealing. I have a ww2 repro German padded uniform in this and I love it
High Brent, first when i saw this german splinter, i thought, that it does not work. Now i have seen, that it works on different brightness too. Kindly Fiete
This stuff is great. One thing that separates this pattern from so many others is the inclusion of large light-colored areas. It really does help immensely in breaking up the human shape by avoiding the "dark blob" issue that effects so many other patterns. Modern civilian patterns that use this technique to great effect are ASAT and Predator.
Great video brother. Couldn't believe how well you blended at 6:48 when fired your rifle. Lol hardly any vegetation in front of you. I still didn't see you until you looked your head up. Another great pattern by the Gerrys
This camouflage pattern done really well. I didn't think it would at first, but it was hard to find in the video. Reminds me of the predator camouflage all the sharp angles in it.
There were many derivatives of it and you can definitely see the influence its had on numerous patterns through the years. I'm working on trying to pick up a Bulgarian version of the pattern that was used during the cold war years.
@@fokinsnipahs9823 No, they rearanged the colors in some way, thats it. Just have this German wiki for it.... But is saw them here on some collector markets
Surprisingly the SS found this pattern to be ineffective and therefore created it's own. It was also no doubt a way to differentiate them from the Heer.
This is the only pattern i could not pick up with my eye even when i rewind it,i really think this pattern will be one of the best camo patterns to use in south africa
Makes you wonder how they lost WWII. Dang... ANOTHER great pattern from the Krauts. Nice balance of dark and light shades. Thanks Devil Dog... keep 'em comin'. :-)
Shitty decisions up top, infrastructure and manufacturing bombed to dirt, high maintenance equipment that was few and far between, and crappy logistucs. Thats my guess.
Mazer Rackham we are still masters of camouflage! The "Flecktarn" patern is very effective in both variants Greenland and dessert. The next patern that will be introduced to the Bundeswehr is a new version of Flecktarn called "Multitarn", it provides very good camouflage in different environments.
I use Flecktarn quite a bit myself and find it quite excellent - what I meant was, that the Germans seemed to pioneer a lot of this stuff when conventional military thinking seemed to be khaki, khaki or khaki ;)
@jeanluc305 they copy like every body else. The inventer doesn't always take the credit but those who put it into effective use will take the credit as well or even more perfect the technology.
This camo is amazing. Very simple, very early(and therefore destined for unperfection) and yet usually extremelly effective. Although I did manage to find this camo the easiest to find(apart from camo non-matching to environment, and of course, I haven't seen all camo patterns so I can only compare with: multicam, vz95, vz60, swiss leibermuster, digital, flecktarn, oakleaf, tiger and rauchtarn) during airsoft. Unless it's very sunny, or unless it's in rocky area, it can be a bit too bright.
I was really excited to see you did Splinter. It's a really cool looking pattern and I've always wondered how effective if would be. It did very well. Swedish M90 has a lot of influence from this pattern, it seems, in terms of angular shapes.
Once again great video,,, I now have an arid Flector shirt with coat... the Splinter camo will be next on my list can't wait to show my friends keep up the good work stay safe
It's a good camo pattern, like most of the German stuff. One thing to note; since you operate in an environment with a lot of bright green foliage, the SS had another pattern called 'Palm Tree' (Palmenmuster) that would REALLY work well in your AO.
I was only able to quickly spot you only about 3 times in this video I almost spotted you around the second time you shot, I thought you looked a little off but I couldn't tell that it was you or if you were just a log! I can confidently say that most of the time you were basically invisible! That's some insanely good camo for your area dude.
I've watched about a dozen of your videos since discovering this channel two days ago. Looks to me like prone position makes whatever camo pattern more effective. I've not detected anyone in prone.
Just very interesting, I think. If one compare this pattern to the Belgian Brush Stroke pattern, they both work really really well, but the philosophy and "construction" of the patterns are quite different with color choice and the shape of the colored areas. These small "rainy" lines are common though. But they do the job really good as said, I think, but with a different approach.
The two or three times i was able to pick up the location was due to the distinctive shape of the cap. a couple branches attached to it would solve that.
Did you ever think about doing a video giving your thoughts on the cammo? The view from a camera is different than the naked eye. Thanks for the videos. I really like them. Except for that mosquito, that think hurt my ears like the real life ones do. Drive me crazy.
Ha, I know, I hate the damn skeeters too. I gotta put up with them, ticks and chiggers in the spring/summer time. That's the best part about filming during the winter time, none of those damn things out there. In regards to my opinions, I try to be unbiased about the patterns in the videos. Therefor I leave my opinion out of these videos generally and leave it up to the viewers.
Mil-Tec makes lower quality stuff, for very friendly price, though. Thing with their splinter camo stuff is you have to "break it in". Multiple washings will make the colors contrast a bit less, making that pattern even more effective.
Any chance of doing the other Wehrmacht pattern, Sumpfmuster?(Tan/water in english) It's more brown based than this one so it may be better to wait until the foliage dies though.
In short... you had fun. Was wondering if I should get a Mil-Tec set just like this one as they are easy to find around here... or if I should get an autumn oak pattern one... which Mil-Tec don't produce anymore so gonna be harder to get that one. This one works... amazingly well, didn't expect it to be this good.
Hi there, Did you know that the splinter camo B you used in this video only ware used by the German paratroopers ? It is brighter then the normal splinter camo A which was used by the German Wehrmacht infantry.
Thanks for this great Video , you are the only guy i guess has proven all Camos around , in several scenarios , what about urban camos? Any plans for that ?
Thanks man. I don't have access to a urban environment to do the kind of filming I would want to do for something like that. So the short answer is no, but you never know what the future could bring.
I think you have a new best camo for your area during this period. Seems practically invisible at times. Starting to think a light khaki or white isn't such a bad thing for woodland with this and klmk being so amazing. edit: Have any interest in getting some North Vietnam camo? Yes I've been playing too much of rising storm 2.
Great video. Very well done. Hey Brent where do you find these camo jackets and pants? Been able to find the flecktarn fairly easy but the other german camo not so much. Any websites to check?
Ive seen all your videos, and while this works great, id still say when you wore the east German rain pattern and the plain coyote brown, i simply could not spot you at all.
Ok so I watched the Tiger Stripe Camo (Which I use) and the Flecktarn Camo and It was fairly easy to spot once you know that someone is in the frame, you just had to look for the dark blob in the picture. With Splinter there was nothing to be found, it adjusted to the different brightness, and to the color of the wood and the leaves. Which leads me to the conclusion that for heavily forested areas a green base with Black Elements is unfit, while a light brown base, with dark green elements is perfectly suited.
FDE, Coyote brown, Coyote tan, Coyote.... I don't know man, I really don't know brother. Every company seems to have their own take on what seems to be the same basic color concept.
Brent0331, thanks for getting back to me! I've been trying to figure this out for a few months now because I'm planning on getting a pack that has the FDE pattern n I wasn't sure if I should buy coyote colored pouches for it as it kinda seems the same, but I'm not too sure lol. I don't know if there is actually a variation in color or all different names for the same things lol

It’s crazy how well this old design works so well when compared to today’s patterns, I think today it’s kind of a fashion show with patterns
At 1:47 you almost became invisible. That lightness in the pattern goes well with the light filtering through the canopy.
This is the first video I have not been able to pick you out in a single cut. Best camo I've seen so far for your area. The colors are perfect for the light patches and dark patches from the sun shining through the trees breaking up the sunlight.

not only ahead with camo^^
Somehow german/nordic countries make the best camo.. from WW2 SS to Flecktarn to Splinter, all great camos
Thanks for the video!
Thanks.
battle tested camo.. thats why
It is almost like they are good at engineering or something...

Cos we have many forests.
Norsk Kamo (Norway), Finnish M05, Swedish M90, Danish M84... they're also really good looking!
Despite being odd-looking it is still effective after over 70 years of being created. Great video once again!
Thanks brother.
High Brent, first when i saw this german splinter, i thought, that it does not work. Now i have seen, that it works on different brightness too. Kindly Fiete
Thanks for watching man.
brightness is always a factor and it's something camos like multicam tend to rely on to blend in darker colored foliage
The Splinter Pattern still holds it's own after all these years.

This camouflage pattern done really well. I didn't think it would at first, but it was hard to find in the video. Reminds me of the predator camouflage all the sharp angles in it.

nice demonstration, very impressive pattern. the way they reflect just enough light to blend with the background.
