  • Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud highlighted the importance of implementing the All India Judicial Services (AIJS) to address the vacancies in judicial positions and expedite case resolutions. Speaking at the valedictory ceremony for the National Conference for the district judiciary on Sunday, September 1, he noted that despite nearly 30 percent of positions being vacant, the average disposal rate remains at 95 percent. However, he acknowledged the ongoing challenge of managing 4.5 crore pending cases, stating, "Improving our disposal-to-filing ratio depends on attracting skilled personnel."

Nepotism is a part of the court system in India. Unless some maverick and disruptive person becomes CJI, it is not going to happen. The drama of intention and suggestion has been going on for a long time through successive CJIs.

I agree with CJI. Reports have pointed that there are close to 5 crore cases pending in India. Many provisions like recalling ex-judges and delegation of authority have been tried to help lessen the pending cases but nothing significant have resulted. The only way for effective and timely deliverance of judgement is the All India Judicial Services in line with somewhat like UPSC. It should be brought in asap

To tackle the pendency of Cases around India 🇮🇳, the first and foremost thing is that the actual working hours of Judges and Courts must increase to 300 days a year. Judges enjoy too many holiday schedules fixed by British era governance.

Time will come for all things, except prompt justice delivery. Perhaps, these Lords have sealed the fate of Indians once for all in that aspect. SC made a ground-breaking change in 70 years; it 'invented' (worthy of a Nobel Prize) that case records, if kept folded, get torn and should be kept flat. Next reform will certainly come in centenary year.

States shall not give the quota of Judicual Service officers to an union body..
Increasing senctions post for each states is an option to reduce the pendency of cases.

use ai to tackle pendency and expedite cases by having a virtual judge . human judge should be spending time only analyzing the judgement of AI judge with facts and modify the virtual judge's judgement if needed and not to make the whole case long and painful. Sounds fanciful but only technology can make things better for India . Justice has to be speedy to be meaningful.
