  • Daniel Cormier’s striking coach, Javier Mendez, joins Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to talk about preparing Daniel Cormier for UFC 230 against Derrick Lewis, including his back injury spurred by a sneeze. Mendez also provides some insight into Cormier’s potential retirement after taking on Brock Lesnar, without a third bout against Jon Jones. Mendez and Helwani then dive into the news about Floyd Mayweather (12:00) agreeing to a Rizin card in Japan instead of fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov. They also look back on UFC 229, (14:00) witnessing Khabib's post-fight antics inside the arena and talks about the fine and suspension that he could be facing from the state of Nevada after the dramatics in the arena after his bout with Conor McGregor. Mendez also looks ahead to a potential Khabib-Conor rematch.

That being said, TJ Dillashaw had his buttons pressed just as hard if not harder for waaaaay longer then two months and just got in the cage and punished cody like he said he would and kept his cool the whole time and made cody look like a fool. Khabib had that chance and blew it, and took a lot of his humble persona with it sadly ! and going after the mayweather fight is frankly just a joke after always talking about legacy

    Stipe is a great guy... but he is soo unlikable at the same time. He basically throws a tantrum every time he doesn’t get his way and Dana just puts him in time out.
    If you want a job in the UFC, win fights.
    If you want to get paid in the UFC, put asses in seats, track your numbers, and show the UFC your worth. Whining about not being promoted enough isn’t going to do anything for you.

      The ufc is a promotion and Dana is a promotor he can't hire himself another promoter to help so they are fucking him over. He did win fights, more than any other HW champ before him. But somehow Joanna and Cody get rematches 🤔 it's favouritism and you just buy dana's excuses

    • @bigimportantman1544
      @bigimportantman1544 5 лет назад +1

      This Guy Dana isn’t making excuses. He’s running a business. Stipe isn’t getting a rematch because DC vs Derek Lewis sells better than Stipe, and DC vs Lesnar will sell WAY more than Stipe.
      If you want to get paid more, look at what style bender is doing. He puts in the work and does extra interviews. He pre-plans his interviews to make them interesting so people will want to tune in to watch him compete, and he’s always posting entertaining content on social media to get a bigger following, etc. Stipe doesn’t do any of that. That’s why you’ll see a stark difference in the opportunities and pay the UFC gives to these fighters.

    • @THIS---GUY
      @THIS---GUY 5 лет назад

      @@bigimportantman1544 he's running a business by picking favourites and taking it out on guys he didn't like. Look at Dana when till and McGregor lost he was pissed because those were his boys. UFC needs a union to stand up to him in order for fights to remain neutral. If he cared about numbers he wouldn't keep knocking legit fights off main cards for his fav sweethearts. He picks and chooses who gets chances for no reason related to fighting. Look at cm punk getting two shots on main even ppv. If you're cool with ufc being a hybrid wwe/beauty pageant then that's all you but it's bullshit to real fight fans. I don't give a fuck about draws and what makes the most because the ufc doesn't even profit share with its athletes it's basically makes us more money so we can fuck you over with the reebok deal and countless other petty decisions he makes to benefit himself not the fighters. As a promoter that's fucked up he talk down about guys when he doesn't like them like stipe and francis but because derek Lewis had a huge insta following he got the shot over stipe. None of that makes sense unless you're cool with favouritism

    • @bigimportantman1544
      @bigimportantman1544 5 лет назад

      This Guy ya dude... I am cool with favoritism. If you sell more tickets, a business should be allowed to place those fights accordingly. If the UFC pandered to fighters who don’t promote themselves asking for equal opportunities... therr wouldn’t be a UFC to watch in the first place.

      Khabib will never be in a fight that makes 300 or 400mill no matter how good he is. Everyones acting like Khabib is a huge global star, he's last PPV did 300k the one against Mcgregor did 2.4million lets not get shit twisted these people who tuned in weren't Khabib fans who have followed him, these were Conors fans and people who wanted to see Conor lose and of course some Khabib fans who followed his career. The people who wanted Conor to lose are the people who jumped on the Khabib train after the fight, they'll soon lose interest like they always do because they aren't interested in the sport just antics which is what Conor brings.
