      Honestly, as someone who has family that voted Trump, I think it comes down to not being able to handle the idea of having voted so horribly wrong. Personally I don't think the democrats would have led to a much better term due to Putin's active threats of war based on aid sent to Ukraine, but politics aren't just red and blue. We've trapped ourselves between two barbed walls in a room without light and refuse to walk in the middle because the fear of occasionally bumping the wall and needing to course correct seemingly outweighs the constant pain of rubbing against one of those walls despite how the flesh tears every step...

      As an American, (at least in Missouri, where I live) most of the people I meet on a daily basis have the knowledge about American history and some of politics (like who the president is, major events, etc), but don’t really keep up to date with what’s happening with politics in the individual states and lesser major politics. Like, someone that I talked to today knew about how ICE was being abusive with their power, but wasn’t aware that Texas is now a blue state. Just an example, stuff like that. The Americans you see online like this most likely never payed attention in school, dropped out, or just didn’t go entirely.

      That's straight up 19th-20th century racism, especially since many hygiene and beauty brands would use racism as a way to advertise their products. These ads would often depict their products cleaning the black off of an individual (implying that being black was by dirty by default) or by contrasting a "clean" white subject against a "dirty" black subject.

    My mom either just *screeches into the phone like a madwoman until they hang up. Either that or she has a little 'fun' with them. If it's a male scam caller, she shy-flirts with them, makes them super uncomfortable and wastes their time. If it's a female one, she plays the crazy-jealous wife, who suspects her husband to have an affair. It just warms my heart that all the hours of watching TV-dramas and soaps are put to such good use.

      I once tried keeping a scammer on the phone as long as possible by acting interested, then mentioning that my number is unlisted and asking politely how he got it. He replied that they had a list of numbers centered around their office where he's located. Oh, and where is that? He told me Drapper, Utah, and asked if I know the area. Well, I very much know the area around DRAPER, Utah, as everyone who ever lived in the Salt Lake Valley does, and I used to live in the city next to it. He hung up.

      My old roommate's grandparents were super racist and didn't think their daughter was going to carry out her "threat" to marry a Black man, but she was only attracted to Black men, so she certainly did, and then her parents cut all contact. When my roommate was born, they realized how stupid they were being. Woo hoo! Same thing with my grandpa, except I think he got less racist before my sister got married to a Black man. At least, I hope he did. She's a lot older than me, so I was too young to remember. I just heard stories of how he was in the 60s and 70s, and the fights he got into with his teenage kids who supported the Civil Rights Movement

  • @Killerbuneh
    @Killerbuneh 29 days ago +144

    When I was 7 I had a blood clot behind my toe nail and needed to get it treated.
    It is treated by drilling a hole in the nail to release the pressure.
    Instead of explaining the procedure to me, the doctor decided to be sneaky which is obviously the best way to manage an autistic child who is already having problems with being touched by strangers.
    She came into the room with the drill hidden behind her back said "I'm just going to look at your toe" before clamping my leg with her other hand, turning her back on me, and quickly buzzing a hole.
    Blood sprayed all over her face as I screamed "you said you were just going to look at it!" On repeat for the next five minutes.
    No-one else was able to get within arms reach of me and we had no choice but to leave without doing the follow up exam.
    I still have trust issues with doctors. She deserved the blood fountain to the face.

      A mate of mine stubbed his toe, as most of us would he ignored it. A few days later the pain hadn't gone away and his toenail had turned black. He went to the GP to have it looked at, while he was talking to the GP said GP produced a paper clip, unfolded it and heated it with a Bic lighter. All while distracting my mate with conversation. Stabbed the hot paper clip through my mates toenail, fountain of blood and puss. Wrote a prescription for a course of antibiotics, apologised for the ambush stabbing but explained that his toe was verging on septicemia which could have led to the loss of his toe, possibly even his foot.
      I get your point about autism, my partner got her diagnosis at age 48, hasn't changed much but does at least explain some of her odd behaviours.
      Septicemia can actually kill you quite quickly, so the sooner the nail is lanced the better. If the doctor had told you s/he wanted to drill a hole in your foot would you have agreed to it? I suspect not.
      That doctor saw potential septicemia that needed immediate treatment. That doctor treated it in a medically appropriate fashion.

      @gwtpictgwtpict4214 no, this was absolutely not the correct way to do it. Giving a child, or an adult for that matter, trust issues with doctors is a recipe for making future medical care even harder. I've had doctor's do dumb shit, it resulted in PTSD and made medical care significantly harder for me. Another doctor had to do the exact same thing, but worked with me and "surprise" managed to not traumatize me further because "shocker" involving people in care about their own body is helpful.

      Sad thing is. That's also the case in the Netherlands, but due to our right to freedom of speech the line between what is and isn't respectable is very blurred (Both are consitutional rights (Freedom of Speech and Right to not be harassed on base of religion, race or other features) of ours and that makes it very hard to distinguish the line... or rather people use it as an excuse to stomp all over it)
      Also calling out your own grandparents on racism is like telling a rock that it shouldn't be laying on the middle of the road.
      We do have a saying in dutch that roughly translates to: Don't bother, soon enough they'll be dead and buried, right allong their outdated ideals.

    In Germany, when talking about ICE (not the train), there's always this sentiment to compare ICE with the Gestapo. But that comparison doesn't really work. ICE-agents lack discipline and training to be considered on Gestapo-level. A much better comparison would be to compare ICE with the SA ("Sturmabteilung" - paramilitary group within the NSDAP created before the NSDAP completely took over but remained active until 1945)
    And no, it doesn't make it any better. But morbid humor seems to be the only "good" thing left on an international scale.

    • @MrLeFluffy1
      @MrLeFluffy1 29 days ago +42

      The Gestapo were just as incompetent. They were mocked and berated even then, which is why it took so long to take them seriously. Everyone said the same thing then as they said today: "Oh, the Nazis? They're so stupid, even if they do win, they won't manage to do much of consequence!"
      The issue is thinking that it requires skill and intellect to perpetrate fascism. It's the opposite.
      “And people did this, just like you, you and me. These people did not come from another planet. [...] They were human beings, just like us. And it was not Hitler who arrested me, not Goering, not Goebbels. The grocer, the janitor, the tailor, the shoemaker, the baker, they suddenly got a uniform, a swastika armband, and there they were, the master race...”

      @MrLeFluffy1 The gestapo was only established after the nazis seized power and was formed from the prussian secret police and similar police sections of other regions.
      I don't believe there ever was a time back then, where they were mocked and berated.
      Before the nazis gained power their main enforcement was the SA, who had a much more notable reputation for being dumb goons.

    The thing with ICE too that I hadn’t noticed until someone pointed it out is that for an organization so hell bent on stopping illegal immigration, they’re pretty damn far from the border. Few states along the US/Mexico border have large ICE presences. Texas does, but that’s about it. Most other states with high ICE presence happen to be states with large democrat populations
    So take with that what you will

    • @BeanBoi2000s
      @BeanBoi2000s 24 days ago +19

      Oh my! It's almost like there actual purpose is the same the Gestapo had!
      EDIT: Actually, as I just learned from another comment, a more accurate comparison would be to the SA, another Nazi organization. Because unlike the Gestapo, ICE agents have zero training.

    • @goldengamer4290
      @goldengamer4290 22 days ago +2

      maybe because when democrats try to oppose and stop ICE they send more agents there but because republican states cooporate with ICE they send less...

    • @Harudodo
      @Harudodo 22 days ago +9

      @goldengamer4290 except when the literal state governments say they don’t want agents in the state, that should be respected. While the national government does have the ability to supersede it, can doesn’t mean should. And it’s not just activity, arrests are a lot higher as well. Statistically, ICE should be making more arrests in the south, not the north. So that also raises suspicion, especially considering the new numbers regarding unlawful and unprompted ICE arrests

    • @goldengamer4290
      @goldengamer4290 17 days ago +1

      @Harudodo well i have to say one thing about the state government not wanting the ICE agents in their state : TOO GOD DAMN BAD! ICE is a federal agency and thus trumps state law.
      also "Statistically, ICE should be making more arrests in the south, not the north."
      thats what happens tho? texas alone has 23% of all ICE arrests.

    • @Harudodo
      @Harudodo 17 days ago +4

      @goldengamer4290 again, can doesn’t mean should. While the federal government has every right to disrespect states wishes, it’s not cool to do so. They should be working together, not just exerting power
      The thing with statistics too is that they’re pure numbers. There’s a lot more to take into account. Texas is the second largest state in both population and size. Therefore, it’s expected to have a large number of arrests. Actually, 23% is pretty low for a state right along the border with such a big population
      And with all the innocent citizens ICE has detained, I don’t blame any state for not wanting ICE in their community

    • @MrLeFluffy1
      @MrLeFluffy1 29 days ago +65

      The worst part is that trump has never once actually won an election.
      In 2016, Hillary Clinton had nearly 3 million more votes than Trump, but republican members of the electoral college violated their role by voting for trump even when their region voted for clinton. (Same thing happened in 2004, when they tried to claim the votes were so overwhelmingly for bush that they didnt need to finish counting, leading to al gore receding, only to find out after all the votes were counted that al gore actually won.)
      In 2020, he lost, and attempted to just take over the white house via insurrection (that I remember him tweeting about before hand to encourage, and tweeting in support as it happened, only to delete those tweets. I also remember him tweeting encouragement to MURDER mike pence)
      In 2024, he campaigned by openly saying that he has all the votes he needs thanks to elon musk. Voting machines in swing states were replaced with Starlink machines, aka machines connected to Musk's starlink satellites. (Fun fact: by law, voting machines are meant to have not only no connection to the internet, but to be FULLY INCAPABLE of accessing the internet, or any outside signals or communication sources. They're SUPPOSED to, by law, be fully self-contained machines that don't even HAVE the hardware to interact with anything other than itself)
      Well, uh... those star link voting machines were linked up and connected to musk's starlink satellites.
      Shortly before the election, Trump suddenly stopped campaigning with anywhere near the energy from just the week before, openly stating that he now had enough votes thanks to elon's machines and that they didnt need to worry anymore (remember the whole, "vote for me and _you won't ever have to vote again"_ quote?), including being recorded stating exact numbers needed to win by a believable margin in certain areas.
      When DOGE was openly embezzling money and Trump let Musk take the fall, musk then tweeted that trump only got enough regions thanks to him and if musk hadnt had starlink machines in swing states he would've lost electoral college votes.
      Mind you, swing states that had massive democrat registration, had massive swings of voters changing from registered republican to either democrat or, for most, independent, and who voted overwhelmingly blue in every other single category on the ballet, somehow voted almost exclusively for trump in ways that many counties in those states openly claimed the numbers for their counties had to be faked because they made NO sense. Many mail in ballots were also found to be either suspiciously fully empty save for only the choice for president, and that choice being marked for trump, and many reported getting mail from the republican party for deceased family members, family members that notoriously refused to vote and definitely did not vote at all, and family members unable to vote (for example, lifelong democrat grandma in her 90s so far into her dementia that she thinks she's married to Marlon Brando and has been in hospice for a year and has no access to voting).
      But because trump caused so much bullshit with the 2020 election results being "rigged", the democrats didn't even TRY to fight back against the obvious rigging for 2024. Also, those votes never finished being counted. I remember trump was declared president literally WEEKS before they ever finished counting the votes in california, my state. Trump was declared as winning the vote in 2024 when the winners of LOCAL ELECTIONS hadn't been announced because the VOTES WERENT COUNTED YET.
      Multiple counties across the whole nation reported seeing their area marked as having voted for trump when literally NOTHING ELSE voted for on those same ballots were even done being counted yet, and those ballots took longer than ever before to get tallied up on every issue other than presidential candidate, which has NEVER been how that works.
      The worst part about all of this is that _TRUMP NEVER ONCE WON THE AMERICAN VOTE, THE MAJORITY HAS _*_ALWAYS_*_ VOTED AGAINST HIM_

On egirl, we clal call her Sara,. moved out and left behind quite a lot of stuff in the kitchen. We had three tiny shelves in the freezer to divide between eight people and she alone had filled up one of these shelves with her really nasty looking frozen squid. On the shelf above one of the stoves she had left a jar with what looked like spices.
      As I was collecting her stuff and putting it aside I stared at the jar. Against better judgment I decide dto taste it. It tasted HORRIBLY.
      When she finally showed up months later to get her stuff I asked her what foul spice in the jar was.
      It was HAIR DYE.
      Who the eff stores hair dye in a communal kitchen?
      Anyway, that would be my recommendation for "special" spices. Really foul tasting hair dye.

    The "parasite cleanse" is one of the many "cleanses" hawkers of alternative medicine sell: they convince you that all or most of your health issues come down to this one simple thing, and that they have just the thing for it. The parasites in this case are exactly the same as "toxins" (that is, the generic version the same marketers use, never getting any more specific): something you should be scared of so you'll buy the cleanse and disbelieve any real medicine because a real doctor would immediately wonder something like "wait, what parasites?!" when the victim of the scam is convinced they are or were real...so the real doctor must be lying.
    This stuff is insidious.

    So, I had a PE and the pain showed up in my shoulder. In the ER, they did a lot of tests and the pain waxed and wained. Dr was furious, said "I'm doing ONE more test for clotting disorder, and then you are OUT of here." Obviously assuming I was drug seeking. Guess what? Test showed clotting disorder. She ordered a chest x-ray. TWO clots in the lung opposite the painful shoulder.If she had sent me home, I had a high chance of dying. Sheepish is the mild word.

      When I was nine I told them that if they wouldn't stop talking like that around me that I wouldn't talk to them again. They knew me well enough to know that I meant it.
      No one should tolerate this behavior whether they have people of color in their family or not. Abusive hate speech is still abusive hate speech, no matter who you are talking to or who it is directed at.

    5:44 As a nurse I'll say that nurse never had a nasty pimple. I've had a deep pimple cyst that was smaller than the tip of my pinky but it still hurt like a MFR because of all the pressure... It doesn't take much fluid in an enclosed area to cause a lot of pain due to pressure.

    • @wizardsuth
      @wizardsuth 3 hours ago

      The deeper it is the more it tends to hurt. When there's a sizable opening to the surface the wound can drain and is exposed to oxygen, so pressure doesn't build up as much.

      and one of the biggest one is "they are acting like the gestapo" (did ICE send the illegal immagrent to an extermanation camps? because last time i checked they get DEPORTED not systamatically killed)

      My knowledge about the three groups isn't that good without looking up the details again, and ICE could honestly develop towards any of the three groups, but right now, they're pretty damn close to the SA in terms of how they act and what they're used for.

The doctor pushed, and it was around her appendix. My niece didn't cry or wince, so the doctor didn't think much of it. 28:10 As a German I really, and i mean really, dislike Joseph Ratzinger beeing called a Nazi. It is a rumor spread by the Newspaper "The Sun" in 2005. And we all know how trustworthy "The Sun" is... This myth hold steadyly, especially in the US and Great Britain. The catholic church needed to issue multiple corrections, giving out letters written by Teenage Joseph Ratzinger as well as protocolls of studentbehaviour during this time. In the 3rd Reich, the catholic church was one of the only institutions that dared to speak up against the Nazis and they also payed the price for that.
    In Joseph Ratzingers School, you needed to pay money to participate. If you were in the Hitler Youth it was free. Yet in his entire school course, no one, not even a single one, was part of the Hitler Youth. The Catholic Curch payed for them, something they did not do before and have not done since then. On March 25th 1939 the Nazis made it mandatory to be in the Hitler Youth between age 14 and 18. Joseph Ratzinger joined the Hitler Youth on April 16th 1941, his 14th birthday and not a single day earlier. And even after that, the Nazis ackknowledged, that he was not there because of his free will. He had all the tasks to do as all the other Boys in the Hitler Youth and none of the benefits. And he was not alone in that. It was the same for his whole seminar-group. Bullied into doing their bidding, or else... The catholics practiced civil disobidiance during that time, and Ratzinger did to.
    Calling a child, that was forced to be part of the Hitler Youth, was forced to fight in a war, practiced and preached against Nazis going as far as they could without having to fear to end the same as his principal, his teachers and other pastors, a Nazi 80 years after is absolutly mind boggeling to me... I mean, when world war 2 *ended*, Ratzinger was 18 years old. In some countrys, that not even enough to decide if you are able to drink alkohol or not. What do some people expect? A 14 year old catholic boy putting on his bandana, going full on Rambo-Mode and joining the resistance, that consited of people 10 to 30 years older then him?
    (For reference, Weiße Rose, probably the best known resistance movement, was organized by university students in their mid 20s. When they started the oldest one was Kurt Huber with 50 years, the youngest Sophie Scholl with 22 years)

      I definitely agree that it’s ridiculous to criticize Pope Benedict for being a Nazi. His age and other circumstances refute that claim. However, I think you overstate the Church’s opposition to Nazism and fascism. In various European countries (e.g. Hungary, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, etc.) members of the Church did align with fascist movements or even establish clerical fascist groups themselves. Suffice it to say, the Catholic Church’s role in World War II was undeniably complex and often contradictory.

      @themadmanchannel9036absolutly. There were even in Germany differences between church communitys. The Protestant church for example was generally more Anti Nazi then the catholic church, but in general, both were.
      In 1934 the pastor of the church community Ratzinger was part of was jailed. The Nazis feared he would bomb them. This claim still cannot be either refuded or confirmed.
      Stories like this are all over Germany. The church was never in open opposition against the Nazis. But every year, pastors were jailed or executed, rules were changed, bible teachers kidnapped because the church made there life harder with everything they did. Every year the Nazis cracked down harder on the church, yet in the following year, it was the same story again.

    8:11 that's not a social landmine. It assumes it's hard to realize you stepped on it until it's too late. This is more like social "neon pink tripwire that hangs at your eye level"
