  • It was awesome weather for the weekend, and I took full advantage of it, and played around with improving my solar pool heating system. I did not plan this much before starting,, so it takes a few turns, as I hit dead ends.
    This video is really not very IT related,, but I did manage to get myself a nasty sunburn,, still a nerd!! :-)

    My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
    I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

    There's always a chance that the neighbor doesn't like the tree either ;) It's always worth discovering to see who is responsible for it when it falls.

      Well I would suggest cutting it down to 3 or 4 meters.

      @@MyPlayHouse or you could make a deal,he cuts the tree and you never start that noisy pump again :D

      @@marcel40625 totally needs a quiet pump, as he said he doesn't need much flow rate, but needs a little bit of lifting pressure to start the loop once water is drained.

    Arduino solar tracker, bearings and some plumbing fittings to move the solar heater around 😁

      Improvements can be made,, tha angle is also not optimal,, but this is a lot easier than before.. :-) But since filming this the weather has not been good. And I have most fun with this in sunny weather.

    I built a solar pool heater a few years ago. I used a similar small pump, but mine is perfectly silent (was like 10€ on ali). I added a small microcontroller which monitors the pool temp and the solar collector's temp. It switches the pump on if the solar collectors temp is above the pool temp. So at night the solar collector won't cool the pool. Also insulating the solar collector gives a huge boost. A sheet of osb, coiled the pipe on it, added a frame and transparent foil over it. I calculated that it heats with 1,5kW from the ~3.1m2 area.

      Well if the solar panel is pointing in the same direction as the heater,, it should only run when there is enough sun to also heate. I should order a new pump.. I guess!!

    You probably also want to invest in some anorganic chlorine, ph minus and plus powder and a ph measurement device. Keep the PH between 7.2-7.4 and add chlorine once a week and you should be good. That's how you maintain a hottub that doesn't get it's water replaced more than once a year.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  Месяц назад

      I have free water,, if the values gets bad,, replacing is the easy fix..

    For pool heating it's a waste to spend battery charge cycles on that, the panels should just power the heater directly, there's no problem if power to the heater has unstable voltage or disappears for a while. Also, don't take down the good large trees! Good shade, nice separation from neighbours, and clearing the air. It's not like solar is crucial to have, you aren't off-grid after all.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  Месяц назад +1

      I want to trim it down to like 3-4 meter,, It is really not often that shade is needed here,, most of the time is is way to cold. :-)

    I think a cover that lays on top of the water would help greatly to prevent losing heat to evaporation. A black cover touching the water could even help heating the pool.

    The plastic boards they use campaigning for the upcoming election has closed channels. One could 'harvest them for the environment', paint them black, and use them as thermal panels.
