That they included the death of Jo's husband after the actor who played him, Stewart Bevan, died in 2022, is a testament to the devotion to show's the characters the producers must have, as they so clearly demonstrated in these minisodes.
Katy Manning is just delightful, it’s so lovely so see Jo and Clyde again. This episode is also a lovely tribute to Jon Pertwee, Elisabeth Sladen, Nicholas Courtney, and Stewart Bevan.
There weren't many lead actors left from the 3rd Doctor era, so they did something a bit different here. Caroline John (Liz), Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah-Jane), Nicholas Courtney (The Brigadier), William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee all died long before the 60th, and Richard Franklin (Mike Yates) has died since, which only really leaves Katy Manning (Jo Grant) and John Levene (Sgt. Benton). -Actor availability is probably also the reason there wasn't one for the 4th Doctor era- (edit: nope, Sutekh). Tom Baker is basically retired at this point. Ian Marter (Harry Sullivan) and Mary Tamm (Romana 1) are both dead. K9 is out for copyright reasons. Nyssa and Tegan were only introduced right at the end. The Time War is a factor with Leela and Romana. There's no easy way to make a pair there.
You don't really have to address the Time War tbf, but I don't know where Lalla Ward and Tom Baker stand on being able to work with each other these days so it's either Louise Jameson or Matthew Waterhouse or someone random. I wouldn't mind it being Adric, it's a pretty unexplored relationship though obviously all of Tom's classic stories are with Sarah Jane, Leela or Romana not Adric.
Part of me imagines they'd have Tom Baker as The Curator, looking back particularly on the face that he reclaimed in that incarnation out of kinship but with memories that happened since, which might help with bringing back said companions to address the time war and other things. That being said, I've always enjoyed how they've continued in Big Finish and other expanded media the mystery of the character, that was one of the main intrigues in the first place. Someone who is heavily implied to be a future version of The Doctor but very much kept in the dark in terms of how and when. I reckon a tales from the TARDIS would ruin that slightly, especially having already had Colin Baker. It's always peaks and troughs with Doctor Who canon
I did wonder why we didn't get this reaction before the 60th but I like that we got a little something before Series 14 proper, a little pitstop and catch up for us, so good idea Jess!
The acting here is fabulous, and what is so lovely and heart warming is that they covered so many past scenarios in such a short time. This was in turn, funny, sad, and retro-new !!! Brilliant !!!
I didn't realize this was a mini-sode as I was expecting a reaction to Jon Pertwee's episode with the same name. But great to see Clyde and Jo again plus now I'm going to be on the lookout for other Tales of the Tardis.
I'm only at the start of the video but I already just wanted to say thank you, I wasn't expecting this tonight (it's 10pm in the UK) and it's an absolute gift, you've just made my Friday night. And now I'm gonna watch it 😜
Thank you for a wonderful reaction. I did wonder what happened to this one and thought I might have missed it or that you had copyright issues, but so happy you got round to it.
OMG thank you so much for reacting to this and I look forward to your next tales of the tardis reactions. Each reaction you do brightens my day but my god I did not expect this gem today and I'm so happy for itA
Really strange coincidence.....I just opened youtube to watch part of your reaction to The Three Doctors, the original episode, and this was the first thing that came up on my homescreen!
A great delightful episode always great to see jo again her last full story was in the Sarah Jane adventures so here with clyde here was 10 out of 10 looking forward to new ps as Jo said time is precious older the get the more people you miss
If Jess wanted to wait until MONDAY, that would be fine! Get some more free time on your weekend!! On Sundays lots of people are watching sports, going to the movies, etc. On Mondays I usually start watching more YT in the morning or during work. As for this, it's amazing how heartbreaking something can be in under 10 minutes! I would love the idea that one of Sarah-Jane's "companions" had a chance to travel with The Doctor! It would be an Easter egg for the audience who knew them, but not necessary for new viewers.
Great react Jess ❤, you should look for Rani's audio dramas for you really i think you would love it, Rani Takes on the World is the name if you didn't know about it, is with the original actors doing the voices. For me i don't care when you release the react i will watch when you post 🤩
Finding your channel has been like re-watching all of Who with a close friend.. even though we've never met. (I know -- it's wierd) BUT! While watching episode 2, I kept imagining which parts you'd like and what types of comments you'd make.
Katy Manning is always wonderful. I'm generally of the opinion of looking forward rather than back, but I would absolutely love a spinoff with Katy Manning at the helm because of how delightful a performer she is. Hell, don't make it a Jo Grant spinoff and look backwards. Make it an Iris Wildthyme spinoff and show us something we've never had on television before.
Holding this reaction back may have been beneficial as writer Russell T Davies said something interesting, when these minisodes were released last year, but I won't spoil it for you.
ive been waiting for this reaction for a looooong time and it was worth the wait, i think joe should have her own spinn off she can be simaler to sarah jane with her own companions, we alrready know she goes on her own adventures and now she works for unit so it would be amazing to see.
I'm so glad you reacted to this. :) Sorry you have to deal with so many copyright issues when it comes to Doctor Who. I feel like I need to apologise for the BBC's behaviour because they're so strict about it. Wish they'd just leave reactors to it.
She watched the ones for _The Time Meddler_ and _The Mind Robber_ when they released, and now _The Three Doctors._ The rest would be spoilers because she's only just starting the 5th Doctor era.
@@TheMoonRover How is watching Tales of the TARDIS Spoilers? They are all from Past Doctors'. Steven and Vicky see the First Doctor Again. Jamie and Zoe in Tales of the TARDIS. Tegan and the Fifth Doctor. Peri and Sixth Doctor. Ace and the Seventh Doctor. THERE ARE NO SPOILERS!!
@@Jamienomore Yes there are! I'm not going to say exactly what spoilers for obvious reasons, but rewatch a couple and there will definitely be spoilers considering that Jess has only just reached the Fifth Doctor's era.
@@BulbasaurRepresent Yes in Classic Who but did you forget She saw them in a New Who Episode called The Power of the Doctor. I can remember Jess's reactions to that.
I'm not the hugest fan of Tales of the TARDIS they feel far too disney-esk for my liking but that's just me as great as it was seeing the old cast back.
I wasn't fond of most of them but I did like this one for giving some closure to the Clyde and Rani relationship started in SJA that was obviously left unfinished.
I'm not excited for the new season, it's season 40 or 14 , with all the memories from classic and before 2024 , he's the 15th doctor, not the 1st doctor in season 1 , the new episodes don't really sound good at all , space babies and a musical episode no thank you , short season....this season will be very bad and very boring, bring back the better seasons asap
This is the worst one. Giving a harmful unreal rubbish message that popular media likes to because it sounds nice where reality is not. To tell someone you love them is to risk terrible hurt. In the present era for a man, it can risk criminalising for sexual harassment too. While that's era specific and was not always so, the hurt risk was always there, it's innate to the situation. It's never something you can just go ahead and do, and telling folks they have to do it can only hurt or harm
You really need to watch the blu ray collection trailers - particulars the one for season 14 - may sound like a weird ask, but convinced you would adore it

I suspect Katy would have insisted they include Stewart, if he wasn't already in the script. They were lifelong friends, after all.
@@therealpbristow Did not know that, thanks for some context. :D
