Your baby is just over 1 ½ inches long now, and weighs about a quarter of an ounce. That's about the size of a strawberry or a little caterpillar, though your little bug is not quite as fuzzy and certainly more human in appearance.
At week 11, your baby's torso is starting to lengthen out to better match that disproportionately large head. A head, by the way, that now has some distinctly human features. With ears now sculpted into their final shape, open nasal passages on the tip of the nose, and a tongue and palate in the mouth. Behind those little lips, your baby is practicing yawning, swallowing and chewing, prepping for hours of eating and chatting in the years to come.
Further down the body, hair follicles are sprouting head to toe, and nipples are now visible on the chest. Fingernail and toenail beds are developing, and nails will actually start forming within the next few weeks. Those nails are forming on 10 individual fingers and toes, which have recently separated from the webbed hands and feet of just a few weeks ago.
Do you have a frog in your throat? Persistent stuffiness perpetuated by pregnancy hormones can lead to postnasal drip. That's normal.
