    I've come to love the occasional tomohawk when my opponent(s) least expect it. Tomohawking is falling, full-hopping or short-hopping towards the opponent, but landing without an aerial input and instead opting for a buffered grab. Unaware opponents are almost always tricked into shielding a potential F-Air or N-air from my Jigglypuff, and them going into shield earns Jigglypuff free grabs that she would otherwise NEVER get with her abysmal grab range.

    So basically this list is "top 1 mistakes" and #1 is "being predictable"

    • @theSato
      @theSato 8 лет назад +5

      Our Boy Roy is better than Sonic
      It should be fairly obvious. "Being predictable" means doing the same thing over and over. So..it should help anyone with a brain at least lol

    • @394bowser
      @394bowser 8 лет назад

      +Sato
      I agree with you fundamentally, but some people have a few small habits that may be holding them back that they don't realise. #4 was a great example.

    • @boredomkiller99
      @boredomkiller99 8 лет назад

      +Sato the problem with that logic is that it only seems so obvious because we are already in the know. of course we know things like constant air dodging and getting off the ledge the same way makes you predictable and gets you killed, but for players who are not experienced or skilled at smash they become predictable largely because they don't know all their options or they don't realize how punishable their option of choice is. furthermore sometimes people are auto piloting into certain options without realizing it due to their subconscious and natural instincts such as trying to roll while near the edge due to the natural instinct most people have to flee from danger and death. hence just saying don't be predictable and leaving it at that is actually not helpful to the people that this video is aimed at.

    • @theSato
      @theSato 8 лет назад

      boredomkiller99
      There is no problem with that logic. This video does not step-by-step tell you what every option you have is and how to mix them up, it just says "stop doing the same thing over and over", this video is really no more helpful than what I said in the end, which I'm not saying it should be, but it means my comment remains valid lol

    2:23 For the 3rd mistake that you've mentioned, it can be argued that sometimes people don't grab enough may be because their character's grab in which they main is a Tether grab, such as Link, ZSS, and Lucas. While their type of grabs do have a longer reach than other characters, they're aren't that fast and that they're punishable if they're whiffed.

  • @jjt171
    @jjt171 8 лет назад +1

    For the first mistake you mentioned, I think it's the complete opposite. People, are always trying to catch an offensive approach. (Shield grabs, dash attacks, and ledge get ups). Almost all the time, I see people attacking from the ledge. It's more common for people to attack from the ledge than to to roll or get up or try something else.

    2:25 I used to have this problem. I think for me it was kind of a laziness thing. Using grab required me to reposition my hand to hit the z button. I think for some people that's not a big deal, but for me it was very uncomfortable. I moved grab to x and I now have the mixups.

  • @Rhakimdar
    @Rhakimdar 8 лет назад

    Oh my, the airdodge on is so true! It frustrates me so much seeing it used so often in my local stream. one time, I was doing Roy v Lucina on For glory and when I down threw the Lucina, I would just do nothing and they would air dodge straight into my fsmash. This happened for like 20 games before they finally started jumping instead. I wish I was better so I could start punishing my local scene harder, but unfortunately my smash 4 is just not there yet. I have a solid neutral game mindset so now I just need to learn the game. Want my scene to improve and can't have that if the same people keep winning off the same bad shenanigans.

      I didn't have any issues with eye strain from this video personally. Maybe try reconfiguring your regular computer setup to reduce eye strain conditions? things like adjusting your screen brightness, ambient light in the room, etc. I don't know exactly how you would go about this, so searching it up online might be a good idea.

    A lot of my mistakes are usually with getting knocked into the air. I play as some characters that don't have the greatest landing options (Falcon and Bowser). A lot of the times I'll find myself air dodging right onto the ground in front of the person, giving myself all this landing lag and setting myself up for eating a smash attack. Getting knocked into the air and landing on the stage has always been hard for me. I guess I just have to aim for the ledge.

    I see my friends air dodge all the time. I always punish them HARD for. For example, me and my friend were playing on the bus. I was Mario, and he was at the Dthrow to Fair combo. He DIs, and air dodges. I read it, then he gets spiked anyways. I also have a bit of a problem with it, because most of the time I am forces to right next to the ground, otherwise I will get hit by a Smash. It is always when I dont have a jump, so I cant jump away. I have a lot to learn, but I am getting there. Keep up the work, my friend!

    Funny, my training partner almost never airdodges, just puts out a neutral air or something, and I'm there ready to bait out an airdodge from him everytime and I get hit. Smh I feel stupid

    Is there a way to somehow practice not to panic(I doubt it, but still)? Recently lost a set because I got stuck with my jump under the stage and used side b instead of up b out of panic.

    I have a huge problem punishing rolls. Its so infuriating going on for glory and losing to a scub because they roll the whole time. Tips?

      Use your down Smash if it hits both sides when you're unsure. It'll hit them if they roll behind or try and hit you. If you know they are going to roll just pick your character's strongest option. Turnaround and grab with Mario, Up B with Bayonetta, Cross Slash with Cloud, things like that.

    surprised you didn't cover always rolling as that is a habit as common as panic air dodges are. Many times there are better ways to get back to safety than rolling everywhere and I think you should cover that if you haven't already done so.

    I try to break the habit of air dodging, but it's not easy. But sometimes when someone is about to attack me, I just decide to take the hit, it's a start(i still have a hard time reading opponents' air dodges). But fortunately, I don't roll too much anymore. I'm doing very well now.

    i want zeRo to do a video on landing options.
    because that's where most of my mistakes come from, especially using robin who doesn't exactly have the greatest landing options.

    • @innuxia
      @innuxia 8 лет назад

      b reversing is my favourite landing option out of those two. i don't really rely on elwind too much because if they juggle you at low percents, the knockback will be too low to actually do anything and you can easily be punished. if they're at high percents, maybe.

    What's up guys, been following this channel ever since i've been getting crushed online (which is making me go crazy). I've won only 2 times and lost 14 times today which is really stressful. For some reason i feel so nervous when i'm playing a matchup, will this nervousness shrug off if I play more?
