Of texting, as some people think of it as.....you cannot distract the human mind with other 'major' issues while it is concentrating on driving-even if you have bluetooth capability-the mind is still distracted with the call-leaving the concentration of driving to the backseat & and very likely an accident. My point being if you are an avid automobile person, none of the 'automated' computerized items are very exciting.....
The safest thing would be the car shuts itself off if it detects a smart phone is on inside the car. Literally, every time another driver does something idiotic that dangers others on the highway, I look over and they’re on their phone.
I mean, a car connected to the internet with linux-based computers(as most smart computers inside of cars are) IS about as vulnerable to attack as a PC. Maybe not as much through social engineering, but -EVERY- piece of software has an exploitable flaw somewhere. It just depends on whether it's economic to find and exploit.

The only problem with self driving cars is 1 sensor fails it can cause an accident. What if there is a self driving car in front of an non self driving car. Your gonna have to get rid of all non self driving cars of the road which people who love the classic cars won't let that happen.
As someone who has driven thousands of cars in the course of my job I really don't like the extent to which modern cars are computerized. I drive a car from the late 90s and it has side curtain SRS airbags and crash tensioning seatbelts. I honestly feel safer driving it than I do more modern cars where you feel disconnected from the road and the crash structure is so bloated you can barely see out any of the windows and need lane detecting mirrors just to tell if you can turn. I feel like given the speeds involved a certain number of road accidents are just going to happen, and this idea that certain people have that we should outlaw non-driverless cars is kind of absurd. Full driverless cars will not solve road accidents, when you're talking about the numbers of cars here statistically crashes will still happen because physics is physics and I trust my 20 something year old brain to safely drive my 20 something year old car a lot more than I would trust a poorly maintained fully driverless car of the same age. Look at aviation, even some well equipped GA planes can do full ILS landings these days and we still get crashes all the time both in civil and big corporate aviation. And these are much more rigorously maintained vehicles with much much much more rigorously trained pilots.
auto manufacturers are the worst. they kicked pedestrians off the street, have super messed up dealership laws, and are always too stuck up to change. pathetic.
Changing driving behavior is the #1 way to reduce traffic risk today. No cell phone usage while driving. No alcohol (or other dangerous substance) in the blood while driving. No reckless driving. No driving while tired. Proper education before handing out drivers licences. Ultimately, we need to adapt our behavior to the world we live in. I think it is absurd that people lool for technical solutions to counteract misbehavior all the time, as if all people were just stupid and unreliable forever.
Not sure what planet you're from buddy but cars will never drive themselves have you seen an airplane boat or any other object drivable that doesn't have some sort of human attachment to operate self drivers will never happen
my opinion if people weren't so reckless and obeyed traffic laws and drove like they cared you wouldn't need air bags yes you would still have some accidents which the word accident is really not what happens an accident is something that happened unintentional when you drive reckless speed drive distracted and don't obey the rules of the road and pay attention or care you get in a collision that's not an accident your driving behavior caused the wreck so that deliberate not an accident it was intentional ok so your going to let a computer drive the car that is stupid remember this genius humans makes the computer humans make mistakes humans are faulty so how perfect can a computer be if humans make it
Instead of scaring us, it would be much helpful if you told us about YOUR efforts to ensure proper digitalization of these cars. Countless technologies have been lost to the Idiots' Paranoia
So will you get a Drivers license along with your birth certificate? Will NASCAR do the same thing and have driverless races with a predetermined winner?
This is all so unsafe. Isn't it strange we have proven technology for cars that have nothing to do with Computers. But yet companies persist to give our control to others.. What's wrong with this picture.
Ralph Neider killed the Corvar and thus he has little respect from me. His push for airbags killed kids. Now there have been millions of airbags recalled because they are rupturing too quickly and embedding plastic in peoples face. They come out with "smart" airbags that greatly increase complexity and maintenance costs leading to people not trusting them. Getting people to wear seatbelts should have been Ralph's real target.
here is the thing though - there should be a override *built in* for exactly those moments when the accelerator or the brakes jam due to that systems, its madness relying purely on the sensors. That said I think its the future and will save many lives.

Rachel Queiroz omg i was gonna ask the same thing! i can't even find it on google with the lyrics 😩 it's so pretty
I think the car manufacturers just need to market the self driving car as a status symbol and people will largely fall in line. I'll take my chances driving my non hackable dumb car
4:00 But Airbags open only when seat belt has pit on.
If you are anything like me ; @ age 13 I couldnt wait to get behind the wheel and show my family and friends that I could be a very safe and effective driver......and I ENJOYED shifting gears ; and I ENJOYED backing up ; and I ENJOYED the challenge of parrelell parking.......in this day and age I'd rather have it 'valet' parked....ha,ha....I actually would prefer to drive and be in control of my own vehicle ; in this day and age I almost changed my mind about that considering there are about 10x the amount of people on the road today then there were back in the mid to late 70s......and another major change to the 'playing' field would be cellphones and the option (??) Of texting, as some people think of it as.....you cannot distract the human mind with other 'major' issues while it is concentrating on driving-even if you have bluetooth capability-the mind is still distracted with the call-leaving the concentration of driving to the backseat & and very likely an accident.
IF people actually LEARN to drive properly WITHOUT distractions there will be almost zero issues and collisions
ill keep my 1986 suburban, no hassle and a carburator, no computers
Plenty of hassle when you have to chase down that one vacuum leak
@@samin90 Not really...
2019 your car cost more than your house market value.
my car cost less than a single month's rent lmao
If we didnt have Mobil phones we would be much safer
Somethings never change I wonder what problem today will be be common sense in future like duh you should have air bags
Cue "Mr Robot" season 3: Elliot & Irving taping over the monitors in their cars. smh..
11:52 'a car is about as secure as your pc is' .... poor fella you don't really know what you are talking bout are ya?
I mean, a car connected to the internet with linux-based computers(as most smart computers inside of cars are) IS about as vulnerable to attack as a PC. Maybe not as much through social engineering, but -EVERY- piece of software has an exploitable flaw somewhere. It just depends on whether it's economic to find and exploit.
Honda brakes fail massively, Don't buy a Honda obviously.....
No more freedom in travel... Hackers can now hack your car wtf!
Any computer system in a car can be disabled. If one for some reason finds that fact to be insufficent, one should buy one of the older cars without it. There is no reason to compromise the safety of others and lifesaving advancements for our kids simply because some folks are afraid and automatically think anything labeled a "computer" can be "hacked."
Weeks, rather?

Late reply here but to teach future idiots
Dont connect the safety to wifi, boom fast solution.
Now hackers need to get near your car, same if a dude just slashed your tires
it's nothing new, even my very basic Saturn Ion, with NO ABS, NO Traction control, and even a manual transmission, can be theoretically hacked due to the car being integrated with Onstar, and that's been around since the 90's
A car that you have to register us anonymous? License plate readers haven't existed forever? Ok fear mongering lady.
What she is talking about is a LOT different. It's basically Facebook on wheels.
"How smart is too smart" lol
"make the world a better place," well except for driving enthusiasts I guess.
Go to a track. Not that complicated.
@@CIARUNSITE lol what track? they keep disappearing because some people decide to move next to a racetrack and then make noise complaints to the city until it gets shut down. Also the track is very expensive and out of reach for many. The only future for most driving enthusiasts is gonna be sitting on your couch playing forza on your xbox. Or maybe you can play forza in your self driving car to pass the time on your way to the grocery store or work lol.
@@GnarshredProductions Auto cross requires nothing more than a parking lot and cones. There are two road tracks, a kart track, and a drag strip within an hour of my house. Another couple tracks in you bump it up to two hours.
well aren't you lucky you live by so many tracks lol. Not everyone is as lucky.
@@CIARUNSITE A: Track isn't necessarily the same feeling as, say, an open country road. B: as stated, racetracks are disappearing for several reasons, even where I live the nearest proper track is a 3 hour drive one way
No cars in 2005 had these driver aids
Many 2005 models had several features that were mentioned in this video (eg.The 2005 Honda Pilot had airbags and ABS that had hundreds of trouble reports years later.) Many car models had roll/stability control, ABS, airbags, and various other features in 2005.
@@craiglachman1379 yeah my 05 350z has all of that but no traction control
The only problem with self driving cars is 1 sensor fails it can cause an accident. What if there is a self driving car in front of an non self driving car. Your gonna have to get rid of all non self driving cars of the road which people who love the classic cars won't let that happen.
does Nader have a blowout orbital fracture in his right eye?
Appears to be an astigmatism.
He has Bells Palsy and the right side of his face is paralysed.
I don't want a smart car. If I wanted someone else to drive me, I'd use public transportation.
Max Covfefe pretty much the dumbest false equivalency you could make
@@sagarsaini7559 you clearly don't understand what a logical argument is.
And these are much more rigorously maintained vehicles with much much much more rigorously trained pilots.
auto manufacturers are the worst. they kicked pedestrians off the street, have super messed up dealership laws, and are always too stuck up to change. pathetic.
How about making cars so they don't go faster than 60 mph?
Changing driving behavior is the #1 way to reduce traffic risk today. No cell phone usage while driving. No alcohol (or other dangerous substance) in the blood while driving. No reckless driving. No driving while tired. Proper education before handing out drivers licences. Ultimately, we need to adapt our behavior to the world we live in. I think it is absurd that people lool for technical solutions to counteract misbehavior all the time, as if all people were just stupid and unreliable forever.
Easy answer you have to put your cell phone down in a certain area before the car will turn on
I don't Like airbags bc I was in an accident With my belt on and the airbag About broke my neck
Build more trains
Not sure what planet you're from buddy but cars will never drive themselves have you seen an airplane boat or any other object drivable that doesn't have some sort of human attachment to operate self drivers will never happen
Cliff Parr just wait 15-20 years you will be surprised.
Both airplanes and boats are for the most part self driving now.
@@chistinelane speech -100
my opinion if people weren't so reckless and obeyed traffic laws and drove like they cared you wouldn't need air bags yes you would still have some accidents which the word accident is really not what happens an accident is something that happened unintentional when you drive reckless speed drive distracted and don't obey the rules of the road and pay attention or care you get in a collision that's not an accident your driving behavior caused the wreck so that deliberate not an accident it was intentional ok so your going to let a computer drive the car that is stupid remember this genius humans makes the computer humans make mistakes humans are faulty so how perfect can a computer be if humans make it

Bring it back
The car driven by Rodney King was able to be remotely controlled
Instead of scaring us, it would be much helpful if you told us about YOUR efforts to ensure proper digitalization of these cars. Countless technologies have been lost to the Idiots' Paranoia
My air bag broke my chest plate ...
What's wrong with this picture.
one of those has a MUCH lower rate of failure, and it isn't the "proven technology' you mention.
Too much drama
Ralph Neider killed the Corvar and thus he has little respect from me. His push for airbags killed kids. Now there have been millions of airbags recalled because they are rupturing too quickly and embedding plastic in peoples face. They come out with "smart" airbags that greatly increase complexity and maintenance costs leading to people not trusting them. Getting people to wear seatbelts should have been Ralph's real target.

Just like lost technology. In early stages its not fully reliable. If people feel unsafe buy an older model or defuse safety mechanism.
Was there actually any need to repeat yourself months later verbatim?
Nichole Kell what?
here is the thing though - there should be a override *built in* for exactly those moments when the accelerator or the brakes jam due to that systems, its madness relying purely on the sensors. That said I think its the future and will save many lives.
