She saved me a fortune by teaching me how to store and freeze vegetables. I make her pineapple sheetcake at least once every few months. The Roman blinds in my front room only exist because she taught me how to make them. But so much more than that. My mum and dad both died within weeks of each other too when I was 23. I never had their wise words and comforting presence as I was raising my own children. Miss Phyllis always took time to reply to me. She said thank you when I gave her a recipe to pay her back for all she had shared with us. She told the sorts of stories that my mum and dad might have told me, had they lived long enough to really know me as another adult. She and Mr Bucky would argue gently about silly, mundane things. They worked together in their lovely garden and renovated that big old camper, took us to their little mountain retreat with them. They made me miss my mum and dad less just by always being there to spend a half hour with. I sobbed when I saw her grieving Mr Bucky so and I knew, that like my mum, she'd not live long without him. Together forever is a platitude that is often said but seldom true. It was with Mr Bucky and Miss Phyllis - and with my mum and dad.
I like to fancy that the four of them have found one another so my mum and dad can thank them, for all the lovely company they gave to me.

Betty, I promised my grandma that she would never go into a nursing home when I was 16 years old. After her daughter (my mama) passed away suddenly at the age of 43, I took care of her. She lived the next state over from me, it was only an hour drive from our home to hers. She lost my Pawpaw about 6 years before my mama, their only child. Each weekend I would drive to her home and we would have the best time, shopping or getting errands done. I was married and we had one daughter too. When it came time for us to move another hour away, my husband said that I could only go every other weekend to see her. She was just in her mid 80’s and still pushed a lawnmower to cut her large front and back yards! I told her that anytime she wanted to close up housekeeping, that we had built her a bedroom with bath. She decided that about 4 months before we moved, that she was ready to move too with us! That was fine. But we live on a lakeside home. She didn’t like the water and it was lonely for her in the winter months. I still worked too and she was here with my husband and our dog on just Monday all day and night and all day on Tuesday until I came home. I got hurt Christmas week in 2003 and was paralyzed. I couldn’t take care of her any longer. She moved in with my daughter, husband and her 2 great great grandchildren. Our daughter and son in law took such great care of her! Her dementia got worse and turned into Alzheimer’s. The dr told us she HAD to go into a nursing home. I cried so hard! What? I’d lied to her! I PROMISED her that she wouldn’t have to go! I KNOW exactly how you feel! She passed away in 2009 and I know that it had to be. But, even with me in a wheelchair, I was at the home everyday and washed her clothes myself. They really took care of her.

The Christmas present of Whitman’s box & he felt it want Christmas without purchasing for her. Great fun for us❤️ Also he loved his Divinity at Christmas. Or I loved the trip to check out the RV’s. I loved how she shared with us her complete remodel. She could do anything! Loved everything she cooked. She is an excellent teacher. I watched her lesson on baking Dinner rolls & how to cut the dough to ensure they were the approx. same size. Loved her logic. Anyone that loves animals like her we knew her heart was big. I think back to when she suffered the car accident and she suffered from pain in her side a lot back then. It is almost like she suffered damage and it turned into a malignancy. Her abdomen appeared swollen at times you would think a family physician would take note of these things but if they receive bonuses not to order tests that is what they do! Both loving couple hard working with a high work ethic. Mr Bucky had a PHD but he didn’t ask us to call him Dr. Bucky ha ha. You can order their books on line now at Amazon I think. Check them out.❤️

They reminded me of my mom and dad. My mom died in 2013 and between her and daddy my husband passed very unexpected at not a old age. Your mom and him helped me through a lot just by watching them and commenting. I can remember the kittens she took care of and you don’t find people like that anymore they would just throw them away. I love animals and am a dog groomer. I know she is not hurting anymore but that don’t mean she is not missed. Prayers and God Bless

So touching Stephen. Our bodies are left behind, yes I believe it was Phyllis’s spirit that came to you. When I was 18 my brothers aged 17 and 12 died in a car accident. Thirty years later I was at work as a buyer and having my mind on what I was doing. If only I could properly describe this; all of a sudden it was like the room filled with a stron emotion and my head snapped up and at the same time my inner self is saying Billy! My mother of course had a very hard time dealing with their passing and normally I would not have spoken about him to her (how things have changed we now know better how to deal with grief). But I felt prompted to call and share what felt like a visitation. She said “I am so glad you shared that with me, I am having a biopsy today” (I had no idea) , I think he prompted me to call. She was fine, now 94. I wrote to Phyllis after Bucky passed to let her know people cared sharing I was from Ohio and a grandma and Sunday school teacher etc. I’m so happy she got a blessing from her cards and letters. Bless you Stephen.

Thank you, Stephen, for sharing such raw emotion and grief that you feel over your Mom's passing. I miss your Mom a lot. I don't think I've ever missed a "stranger" a lot, but there are so many times I think about checking to see what her new video is and then I remember, she's gone from this world. What a tragedy for us, but a blessing for her to be with Bucky again. You look so much like your Mom, that listening to you speak has a similar calming effect as watching her did. Please continue to talk to us, and know that for every person commenting there are easily 50 more that can't find the words to leave you a message. Your Mom was a special woman and her presence in this world is sorely missed. I can only imagine what a tough cookie she was to deal with for those volunteers and hospice nurses! I can't even imagine her in the hospital putting up with anything she didn't like. She never hesitated to speak her mind! That's an amazing quality for someone of her generation. Thank you for sharing, and know that many of us can relate. I cringed many times remembering what my Dad went through and how hard it was to leave him when he was dying. I had to at least make an appearance in my own life and run my own business and work, and I had a partner and dog at home waiting for me. Fortunately there was endless understanding with my partner. It's terrible to have your heart torn in 2 pieces, wanting to stay with your parent, knowing the end is coming, but also wanting and needing to get back to your life even if only for a little while. You are a good son, Stephen. You did everything your mother wanted and asked of you. Knowing the story of your family that she shared with us, I can't imagine how hard this was without your sister. I'm so glad Chris was there and that you had the help you did. Sending so much love to you from Toronto, Canada.

A friend told me after losing her daughter that was murdered, don't ever say goodbye to a loved one or good friend without saying "I LOVE YOU." You never know when you say goodbye if you will ever see them again. A few years later my best friend was dying with cancer, she had also lost a lot of weight, just like your mom. She really didn't want anyone to see her like that. They did call and say she was at the end. I ask to come up to say goodbye, they said no. They later told me that they had planned to let me come the next morning. She passed at 4am. To this day, although it was not my fault, It still feel a raw spot deep down because I didn't get to say goodbye 💔. Thank you for being so good to your Mom and letting us get to know her final days. We all loved her and the testimony she conveyed on RUclips. They wouldn't have dared to ban her, so God used her. She said I Love You back every time she posted a new video.

this channel continues to be a blessing. Your mom started this and it was a blessing every time I watched her. I know she must have taught many people to cook. I remember the first time I happened onto one of her videos and she was making beans. My first thought was , who is this woman, and I kept going back. She was smart, witty, and so on top of each project..
Her love of her family and the Lord was always evident. The love and respect and the sense of fun between her and Bucky in their day-to-day life was a reminder to me of the real meaning of marriage and family at its best and how without a relationship with Jesus, this cannot be attained and maintained. They were both a testimony to me of their love for God, one another and family. She was truly a blessing, and so it continues.
    Thank you, Stephen.

I just lost my mom in December, she was 85. Mom was 79 when dad passed and it caused a real personality change in her over night & not for the better. I think my mom was in a state of shock, panic and I believe it brought on a certain degree of dementia. Mom wasn't in great health so the last 6 years have been a real challenge for her & myself. Your mom was dealing with a lot with losing Mr. Bucky and being very ill herself, so her wanting you to quit your job to be with her was probably out of character for her. Sometimes it's difficult to understand why these things happen to Christians, after living as a Christian our whole life, why we suffer illness & pain in the end. Haven't quite figured that out yet. I miss your mom and I know you do too. This channel has been a blessing to me in many ways, thank you.

I know it’s tough. My M💜M passed 4 years ago January 19th. She had pancreatic cancer. I stayed with her for 71/2 months. I was in the position I could stay with her from getting injured at the school where I taught .I questioned why I had to cut my career short and that was my answer. I am so thankful I was there. It was such a hard thing to watch. We had many laughs and talked about things we should have ask each other long ago. Stephen, you will always miss your mom. Let go of thinking you didn’t do enough. You did. I am sure your Mom would not want you feeling this way. Thanks for sharing. A great healing video for many.
