Glorbin Highbit I agree, man. Last time I saw Gwar was in '08 I believe, with the brief return of Sleazy and it happened to be on my birthday. Gwar has been one of my favorite bands, and Dave has been one of my favorite artists for a long ass time. It's hard to believe Gwar is over, without Dave it cant/wont be the same. Gwar was his everything, the guy was one of the most creative and brutally blunt and truthful people making music. I'm equally bummed, man... never felt this bummed about a mans death I didn't know personally...
Glorbin Highbit I feel your pain. 100%! It has been over a month and I still can't help but sit here for at least an hour a night just going through interviews and live videos that I have already seen and some that I haven't. GWAR molded my view of artistry and humor at a young age and they were always around when I was growing up. From their Hot Seat appearance, to the Beavis & Butthead video game that I spent weeks trying to beat, to America Must Be Destroyed blasting in my older brother's truck while we drove to and from hobby shops and record stores, GWAR was there and I was never shocked by them. I just grew up thinking that it was what musicians that gave a shit were supposed to do. I celebrated so many milestones at GWAR shows. They were the first band that I ever saw while high, the first band I ever saw while shitfaced...the only band I ever drove over six hours to see, got there late and only caught the last 15 minutes of the show, but was still happy because I got to go to Waffle House afterward, covered in stage blood and spew. I even got to see them on my 21st birthday in Las Vegas when they were on the Sounds of the Underground tour in 2006. Dave Brockie and his body of work have been such a huge influence on me over the last 20 years and I'll always regret that I didn't just run up to the guy, hug him and tell him how much everything he has done has meant to me, in the parking lot after a show. I don't think he would have minded.
Holy fucking hell I'm enjoying this. I'm so glad there's some good quality film of him performing out of costume. This is ultra-rare punk/metal history you're watching. Rest in peace Dave, You were an odd creature.
Got to see Gwar ten times with Dave. What a fucking legend. All metal frontmen should strive to be half as awesome as he was. At least he can rest easy knowing the bands still great. Just different. Seen them with Blothar six times.
The intro of 'Immortal Curroptor' gives it all away. Dave is in constant pain because of Cory's death. That's why he drinks so much and finally found oblivion in heroine. That one minute of heartfelt agony and finding support in a mikestand says more than everything. Hope you found peace now, Dave!

Dude, it was the coolest night! I did sound for all the bands except Asexuals, and got to hang with him after for a while. Glad I was able to get a couple of pics with him.
When you get rid of the ridiculous costumes and stage show (which was fkin awesome btw) it really showcases how talented he was. Great singer and front man.
Noticeably absent is Brent (lead guitar). He was just joining the group this very month, but I guess it hadn't been finalized yet. Mike D did a great job carrying the full guitar load during this period.
@@ArturAxmann-zp3cm It rarely happens in metal/rock bands. The only exception I can think of is Brian Johnson. He didn't sound like Bon, he gave AC/DC another sound.
@@killerseddie8295 you're damn right he didn't sound like Bon. Brian had NOTHING on Bon Scott! All Brian did was try to imitate Bon and ended up sounding like he was perpetually constipated.
@@FilthTribeFTP I wasn't trying to imply that Brian was bad, quite the contrary. He was just a completely different sound. Hells Bells will never be replicated.
LOL Never gets old seeing Dave's face up close during the breakdown in Sick Of You. The second time he says "Don't you know? So sick of you. The things you say....the things you do." With his eyes shut, enunciation & look of authentic disgust on his face is the best 😭. RIP brother.
My first Gwar show was in 1990 at Bogart's in Cincinnati. I've seen them 26 times since then, only once without Brockie. I got to meet him briefly when they were the opening band for the Aardvark Ballroom in Dayton Ohio. He was quite a guy. I still miss him and his genius. Fuck heroin!
Dave was actually in several punk bands before he formed GWAR. I believe the most heard of is DeathPiggy? Something like that. He was a very talented dude.
First time I ever crowd surfed I ended up on stage ,slipped and banged my shin on the corner of the stage( because it was soaked.) Oderus saw that I was injured and stopped a slave from tossing me . I stood near that beast of a man tipped my hat and fell backwards.not onto my friends but some unhappy punchy people lol. best concert I ever saw. Mid Galaxtic Championship Westling was amazing Providence Ri. The Strand Theater 1993ish. Thanks Dave ! r.i.p
The first time I saw them was summer 92 in Syracuse NY. For the encore they came out completely naked except for Slymenstra. Oderus jumped into the crowd and landed right on my head. We couldn’t hold him up to crowd surf bc he and everything was soaked in sweat beer and GWAR stuff. He hit the floor hard. And got right back up to finish Sick Of You. One of my fondest life moments.
I know I've already commented alot but I cant help but be amazed at the passion and intensity they still have at what appears to be a small crowd, and after damn near 30 years. It can be hard to tell with their costumes on but there is no question here. They are not just going through the motions. They still clearly love what they do and that is awesome. We miss you, Dave!
salamagogo saw rawg back early nineties in a club barely bigger than that stage. at some point in taking my beating in the mosh, I realized I was in proximity to genius.
Thank you very much Dwayne...I used a Zoom H2 on a stand back at the mixing board...which recorded a non-distorted .wav file that I put together with the video footage....and I got as close to the front of the stage with the camera as possible.
@DISGRUNTLED DEWEY apparently so, seeing as you were somehow allowed to comment. Obviously OP doesn't mean in terms of pitch or hitting perfect notes or octave range, but instead meaning one of the greatest within the genre, due to his uniqueness, creativity, originality, sound presence and so much more. You know, things that make him stand out above all the rest. Being great at something doesn't always mean being perfect or professionally trained. People, unlike you, who don't set their judgement standards based on the "mainstream", are able to see and appreciate those that are true masters of their art and have an amazing ability to create something very unique and inspiring outside the societal norm.
GWAR is one those bands that got exponentially better with age. I grew up listening to them, but didn't get the chance to see them live until 2007 when I was in my early 20s; it was well worth the wait. I've seen them countless times since then and hope they're still around to play at my funeral. RIP Brockie. Btw, super tight video. I often come back and watch this specific concert at least once a month. There's something about seeing them without all the costumes that's special. Even though he's been doing it so long, singing like Brockie does must be hard on his throat and body, but he makes it looks easy as fuck.
It’s crazy. With the costume, you kinda take for granted the amazing range and fluctuations in his vocals. Seeing it coming out of a man and not a beast really make you appreciate what an insane vocalist he was. One of a kind.
Heinrich the White that’s not singing lol. That’s yelling. He literally sounds like a wannabe drunk dad in a band. That being said the music is good. Vocals? Horrid.
NathanDrums You’re an idiot. You’re clearly unfamiliar with Gwar. Wannabe drunk dad? Go fuck yourself, Moron. Go listen to disturbed or whatever the fuck

@@mercenairy1 Everything pretty much beats hearing Biden and in my opinion the only thing I want to hear about Biden is when and for how long they are going to stop being corrupt fucks and hold him accountable for ANY of his criminal activity over the years. They should tell him you can't pass another executive order until you are brought to court and answer for at least one of them., if Dave was alive he'd be having a field day with all this bullshit, luckily we had him for about 30 years and we can just about imagine his response. I realized about a decade ago that listening to GWAR or x-cops, or Dave solo simply puts me in a good mood, or rather, if I feel bad, it cheers me up.
Ole Gwar, when they play in Richmond, everyone comes out the woodwork to see them, people I knew from middle school popup with their little kids. Every show was a middle / HS reunion for me. Brocke showed up at a few poker games my buddy had, he was loud and drunk as hell but it's crazy to have a punk rock / metal legend like him just walk in your door and sit at the table.
I got to meet Dave after a show (we had a mutual friend) and was amazed at how nice he was. I'll never forget the quick chat we had, just two guys talking music and having a good laugh. RIP, Dave.
I'm so fucking happy you captured this and chose to share it with everyone who couldn't be there to experience it. Just overjoyed to see this moment in time. It's the highest and lowest form of art all at once, a nuclear explosion of raw talent and power. THANK YOU!
Brockie and gwar/slavepit will forever be, the single biggest influence in doing it yourself and at a high level, without strings. Pure raw art for 3 decades is a legacy untouched by most groups.....thanks dave for existing.

Awesome!! The last time I was that close to them, they were dressed differently, and I was covered in blood.
@@jdad6802 nice one brother!!
I really wish they would’ve played more shows as RAWG. You can really see Dave’s facial expressions…. and they are amazing!
That ending put a huge smile on my face. Sucks so much he's gone
Blothar the Berzerker aka Mike Bishop doesn't hold a candle to Oderus Urungus aka Dave Brockie
@@killerseddie8295 I know you weren't. But I was. Lol.
I miss Dave
The GWAR doc on Shudder is everything. High recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it. Crucial. I love these boys and all that stood behind them
Love the backstory that these are the Human slaves of GWAR forced to perform for there very lives.
Wow !! This so called Dave Brockie sounds exactly like Oderus, that's amazing !!
LOL Never gets old seeing Dave's face up close during the breakdown in Sick Of You. The second time he says "Don't you know? So sick of you. The things you say....the things you do." With his eyes shut, enunciation & look of authentic disgust on his face is the best 😭. RIP brother.
I'm so glad this exists.
It was fentanyl
it's amazing... it's not til now, without the makeup, that I realize just how PUNK ROCK these guys were.
Dave was actually in several punk bands before he formed GWAR. I believe the most heard of is DeathPiggy? Something like that. He was a very talented dude.
R.I.P. Davey Brockie..
Thank you,and and ALL the rest of the band for your music!!
Dave says "This one is for Cory". Brings tears to my eyes. Flattus Maximus & Oderus Urungus up in METAL METAL LAND. R.I.P. Dave & Cory...
Too soon, Dave. Way too soon.
Miss you, man. What a showman and pioneer. RIP.
Missed dearly
Fuck man, why did he had to go, I miss him a lot
First time I ever crowd surfed I ended up on stage ,slipped and banged my shin on the corner of the stage( because it was soaked.)
Oderus saw that I was injured and stopped a slave from tossing me . I stood near that beast of a man tipped my hat and fell backwards.not onto my friends but some unhappy punchy people lol. best concert I ever saw. Mid Galaxtic Championship Westling was amazing Providence Ri. The Strand Theater 1993ish. Thanks Dave ! r.i.p
We miss the hell out of you Dave.
Mike Derks is so amazing.
I wish him the best.
Ive watched this thing atleast 20 times,
LOVE IT!!!
Same
Hell yeah brother. Im also a pantera fan. Canadians arent bad either \m/.
It is heartbreaking and breathtaking
Holy Shit! I was there! R.I.P. Dave.
Me too buddy, best night ever
The first time I saw them was summer 92 in Syracuse NY. For the encore they came out completely naked except for Slymenstra. Oderus jumped into the crowd and landed right on my head. We couldn’t hold him up to crowd surf bc he and everything was soaked in sweat beer and GWAR stuff. He hit the floor hard. And got right back up to finish Sick Of You. One of my fondest life moments.
My favorite video of Dave right here, he had such a cool ass voice
I know I've already commented alot but I cant help but be amazed at the passion and intensity they still have at what appears to be a small crowd, and after damn near 30 years. It can be hard to tell with their costumes on but there is no question here. They are not just going through the motions. They still clearly love what they do and that is awesome. We miss you, Dave!
salamagogo saw rawg back early nineties in a club barely bigger than that stage. at some point in taking my beating in the mosh, I realized I was in proximity to genius.
This is still my favorite live set recording ive seen. They sound amazing in this vid.
Thank you very much Dwayne...I used a Zoom H2 on a stand back at the mixing board...which recorded a non-distorted .wav file that I put together with the video footage....and I got as close to the front of the stage with the camera as possible.
Yeah, it sounds great and looks great, and the band is just really good, though every time ive seen them they have been really good.
This video is freaking killer bruh!!!! Love it they sound great too, thank you so much for sharing this! R.I.P. DAVE BROCKIE
Dave was one of the best vocalist to live. R.I.P Great video.
MISS DAVE & Company! NO ONE CAN REPLACE! RIP. SMOOT/DAVE. WISH I CAN GET THIS ON DVD
They make it look so easy. Amazing set. Thank you for this.
Atilio Escobar said umsxhvmcoxhgxxyx
it probably was easy for them without the costumes
Vocals? Horrid.
NathanDrums
You’re an idiot. You’re clearly unfamiliar with Gwar.
Wannabe drunk dad? Go fuck yourself, Moron. Go listen to disturbed or whatever the fuck
Does anyone else watch this every day since finding it? Brockie is a legend man what a performer
im on my 13th something time
this and a bunch of other...dbx live at the pound is the best of all imo...there is so many out there and more coming out.. still looking for any decent ex cops shows...rip dave 7 years today...nothin but brockie for 2 days//nights...beats hearin biden
@@mercenairy1 ugh don't mention Biden while we talk about a legend lol spoils the moment. I'll have to check those other ones you mentioned out
Ole Gwar, when they play in Richmond, everyone comes out the woodwork to see them, people I knew from middle school popup with their little kids. Every show was a middle / HS reunion for me. Brocke showed up at a few poker games my buddy had, he was loud and drunk as hell but it's crazy to have a punk rock / metal legend like him just walk in your door and sit at the table.
2020 has been such shit, this is a nice escape back in time. I wish dave and oderus were here to get us through the riots and covid.
Brockie looks like he's having so much fun!
I got to meet Dave after a show (we had a mutual friend) and was amazed at how nice he was. I'll never forget the quick chat we had, just two guys talking music and having a good laugh. RIP, Dave.
Brockie was Gwar. Their shows from the 90's were nukin futs!
Watched this at least 10 times and it's still awesome.
I still cry because Dave was the most genuine of any soul I’ve seen!
@@luiswiley86 From Death Piggy on the guy was just a performer man. Don't have them like they used to.
I enjoy it more each time I watch it.
thanks MAN!....3x!...great!
We love you Brockie! Always will!
Gwar is seriously underrated
criminally underrated
I'm so fucking happy you captured this and chose to share it with everyone who couldn't be there to experience it. Just overjoyed to see this moment in time. It's the highest and lowest form of art all at once, a nuclear explosion of raw talent and power.
THANK YOU!
Probably my 12th watch in the last 2 months 🤘
Miss Dave
Brockie was so talented, with such an amazing presence. What a tragic loss to the world of music.
Never mind this week. Freakin Brockie man😯
Will always be one of my all time favorite vocalists. RIP
Dave gave metal his all.
Mike held it down one guitar player, totally nailed it!!
the band will never be the same without Dave.
@@toweringflesh Naw man they'll be the same a few months from now
Brockie and gwar/slavepit will forever be, the single biggest influence in doing it yourself and at a high level, without strings. Pure raw art for 3 decades is a legacy untouched by most groups.....thanks dave for existing.
Wish I could have been there we miss you BROTHER 🤘🤘🤘
One of the most amazing performances I've ever seen. Dave was up there with Mike Patton and Chuck Billy as one of the best metal singers ever. So unique.
Ive seen Gwar over 50 times!! This is epic stuff...watched this numerous times. Makes me feel happy. Long live Gwar!!! Dave is forever a legend!!!😎
thanks for your comment...much appreciated!!
rip dave brockie, just as i was getting into gwar too smh i wish i would've known several years ago
I smile every time I watch this. Brockie SLAYS!
His voice on 'America Must be Destroyed' is the greatest vocal performance ever recorded
Agreed!!! All my friends argue with me when I say that's their best album!!!
You may be right. It’s up there for sure.
think this might be one of Dave Brockie's best vocal performances I've ever seen awesome video you were lucky to be at this show!!!
lee Bass
Imagine!!!!
Once in a lifetime!
Probably cuz he is unencumbered by a pig mask!
I WAS THERE!! im the guy at the end who screams during sick of you, with the shirtless vest
man, ive been a fan since scumdogs and ive seen gwar 4 times over the years. An amazing band that can never be matched. dave was so underrated as a vocalist and performer.none like him and he cant be replicated. RIP Oderus
Its so hard to watch this. I miss Dave so much.
Yes, especially with how he starts the video. Talking about vomiting (probably from partying too hard) :(
13 people sat down for the entire time. Tragically, after the show GWAR fell upon them, slaughtered them and ate them. On a bit lighter note, this worked out great for the food bank fundraiser barbeque later that night. 28:38 You're scaring the slaves, bro! Long live Oderus!!! Have fun smoking that great giant crack rock in the sky far far away from this cesspool planetoid earth! RIP Dave.......
Well said! :-)
You mean the GWARBQUE??
Funny how people are ripping on this band. This bands music will be living longer than these critics.
RAWG reminds me of early punk rock without being GWAR. GWAR always makes it a fucking metal show...and both are very good things.
Makes me sad that I never got to see brockie before he passed :(
Same ):
@@XManX102 Same.
I got to see them in Asheville on the Battle Maximus tour a month before he died, it’s a show I’ll never forget.
@@asquideatingdough5347 I have the same experience with Motörhead. Seen them one month before Lemmy passed. You dont forget these shows.
@@XManX102 that’s awesome. I wish I could’ve had a beer with ole Lemmy. Seems like a really intelligent guy
