DUCK fan, with many UofO graduates in the family. Mario started elite recruiting at OREGON, it was 3 star recruits, coached up prior. Now it's 5 stars, mostly 4 stars, with an occasional developmental 3 star. OREGON fans really hate he left for his home town Hurricanes, but don't acknowledge how he helped OUR program grow. Of course he left for his home town, where his family lives, and he played ball for! Anyone saying they wouldn't have left for that situation, is lying! Hope Mario wins, as long as it isn't against OUR DUCKS!!
I live here in Florida as a Miami fan! This state between Miami, UF and FSU has produced 11 national titles since 1983! It was a no brainer for Mario to come back to Miami! His probability of winning big at Miami is very high! If Miami, FSU and UF have the right HC and are ran right, they will win big based on the last 40 years!
Mario is an elite CEO. From talent acquisition, to developing talent, to the daily football operation. The guy is really, really good and deserves all the credit in turning the program around. No one, and I mean, no one outworks this guy. For the university of Miami, there’s no better fit than Cristobal as the HC.
Been a CANE fan since 1963. I am proud to have 2 degrees from the U!!!Mario is a great man and great coach! We are so fortunate to have a coach with his character, knowledge and drive!
As a Miami Fan, since the 80's as a kid. I 💯 can say Mario is the man. Cause he cares where it matters. Not just saying he cares, he said it. As a former Miami player getting to LEAD the same program it just matters.. that little bit more, that Matters MORE. How many other programs get to say their Captain has that. WE ARE BLESSED. Thanks Coach! You are awesome
As a Columbus grad and a canes fan for 45 years, what a time to be a Miami hurricane. So proud of what Mario and Alex are doing here and so excited for the future.
I’m a Virginia Tech Alum that remembers the Big East Days. Virginia Tech vs Miami was prime time television. The intensity, the violence, the passion. The ACC is better because of Mario. I love seeing Miami rising to the occasion. Nevertheless, it still SUCKS TO BE 🙌🏻
I liked this and had to retract it because of the ending. But I respect VT as a program i hope they come back up. I really miss those heated rivalry games. I never hated VT like I do ND, FSU and UF. I absolutely hate how the ACC has tried to manufacture a rivalry between Miami and UofL. Miami fans don’t give a rats ass about UofL. We care about the rivalry with VT, even the old rivalry with Boson College matters more to me. I don’t even think about how Howard S went To UofL and did whatever there.
As a Miami fan to a VT fan... Always respected Beamer. Blacksburg environment. Watching VT grow competitively under beamer. Early 90s.... Love that game and rivalry from the Big East years. Respect.
You can tell when Mario truly respects an interviewer. Not that he's uncouth with media people but you can tell. Josh gets more out of Mario than anyone else at the National Stage.
Excellent interview from Josh Pate. He is one of the best in the business at getting down to business and asks great questions. Mario is what you see is what you get the guy truly is relentless and loves this program. I’m so grateful to have him back home in Miami coaching my Canes. It’s been a long 25 years of misery watching a different Miami program compared to the 80’s and 90’s and 2000-2003. Who wouldn’t want your kid being coached by Mario Christobol. So happy he was able to turn the program around because the guy works his tail off. 🙌
Great interview with Super Mario~! Seriously, you throw a good interview. This was a great one~ I'm Class of "92 from the U and I know the lay of the land so to speak... You are a quick study and add to that I have a feeling that they like you at Greentree and the Coaches and Staff respect you for good reason... Thanks for delivering a straight up Cristobal interview~! Kudos to you for it~! Go CANES✋🤚
How do NFL teams make the grind of an 18 game season + post season with less roster than DI ball? Mario has installed an NFL like regimen at Miami, and that has been literally stated by NFL GM's. Its why at the combine several scouts went on record saying Miami's guys came in the most prepared in all aspects for that setting. Like Mario said, they are physical, but they aren't stupid or reckless. Its what Jimmy Johnson did. Who Mario played under. Its what Saban did, who Mario coached under. And he's picked the brain of NFL GM's and programs too. JJ philosophy was always "make the practices hard so the game is easy. The game is the reward." You do that + a talented roster and thats how build those teams that rolled over people. That's what he's been building towards the last 4 years.
Canes fan since the early 90's as a kid. So great to see Mario building something special again at the U. It's been a long time since we've been relevant in the national picture.
Josh Pate looks MORE AND MORE like the best, most interesting, hope inspiring and optimistic candidate for the commissioner of FB. He nonchalantly interviews the president, Coach Cristobal, Coach Day, Coach Sum! This guy is PLUGGED IN.
Lol lol saying Al Bundy has more style lol. Josh Pate wears the black or white tees. That's fashion to some. Josh Pate about that action boss (like Marshawn Lynch would say).
As a long time Hurricane fan, you cannot believe how badly I wanted to see it happen last year. I was all in when Mario came to Miami and I remember ALL the hate, ALL the negatives… he has silenced many of those voices but I know some are still saying “but… no natty” like he didn’t just overhaul a dying star. Please for the love of all that is good… let this year be it.
Mario I wonder if that trick play you called vs Syracuse where Malachi took the ball and passed it back to an open beck would've worked vs Indiana. Go look at Indiana and figure out why u got blanked in a first half and make sure it never happens again. Make sure the next time you give up a blocked punt is 40 years from now when ur not the coach. And when you try to out muscle a team like smu realize that when they have every hole plugged up u can't just get a yard because you have a big o line. You will get stopped if the defense knows what you're doing.
Those fans didn't follow, our roster was not good. I think people thought because its the U it has talent and that was not the case. I expected two really bad seasons when he got here cause Diaz destroyed the roster worse than what it was. It was bad but became real bad under Manny.
@joshpatecfb If you had a high schooler who was being recruited by every P5 team, what school, or more specifically head coach - would you feel best about turning your child into the best version of themselves and help create an amazing man & leader?
A 17-19 year old young man should already be focused on, self-discipline, responsibility, but like in my case i needed tweaking. I'd want a coach that focuses on long term accomplishments, not short-term
Coach said we ain’t doing our job hell no I ain’t alright I’m hurting dog now lets go ed reed the Miami bloodline means whatever it takes all about the U
Man, he was planning on 2026 season when he was watching the confetti dropping from the sideline. You didn’t see the look on his face. I seen it. The U is not back. We’re close.
Pate, you are a class act. By far the best journalist for college football and a breath of fresh air. Mario usually says the same things in every interview but man how can you not feel the passion and want to fight for him. Put me in coach!
This will be the year where we see if a one off team can gain consistency in the new system, or whether we’ll just see another Indiana pop up somewhere else.
For what lol jk I'm curious to see Scott frost and what he has to say. It seems like he just can't get his team together no matter where he is. Maybe he's all qb. He cant just win with anybody.
@shailonnoelle7175yeah. I always give coaches a mulligan first year to get settled and get their system in place. This season will be the first year I'm looking for actual improvement. We got the JMU QB so I'm optimistic on that end. Our defense was also decent last year. Hopefully they gel together and advance this time around.

We need a stud report out of Lexington.
The U being relevant is so good for college football. Love coach Mario!
Note to Mario: run MORE PISTOL formation! Fletcher was KILLING it in this.
Been watching mensah highlights, I am fuckin excited. This is gonna be a good season.
I said the same thing with Martinez in 2024 😭
WITH OUT A DOUBT....The BEST interviews in College Football!
DUCK fan, with many UofO graduates in the family. Mario started elite recruiting at OREGON, it was 3 star recruits, coached up prior. Oregon is legit top 5 program - best uniforms ever! Best of luck
@30rackshawtyI’ll give them top 15 gotta have atleast one big title win 😂💯
Thank you Duck. Not often I see a duck fan be so honest and candid on RUclips.
Don't forget, he won multiple national titles as a player at Miami!

Facts. People can take about his game day stuff which I do lol GT not kneel is still wild. But dude can put together a program
Been a CANE fan since 1963. I am proud to have 2 degrees from the U!!!Mario is a great man and great coach! We are so fortunate to have a coach with his character, knowledge and drive!
I don't usually care for interviews but I did feel Cristobal was being pretty sincere. I know the man is hungry for the season to start.
As a Miami Fan, since the 80's as a kid. I 💯 can say Mario is the man.

I cannot imagine growing up as a Miami fan with those teams. My childhood was constantly being disappointed by Iowa football 😂
All love to Mario and the team! We've needed this for the U
As a Columbus grad and a canes fan for 45 years, what a time to be a Miami hurricane. So proud of what Mario and Alex are doing here and so excited for the future.

The real deal
JP just join the Miami staff already. Probably be one hell of a recruiter.
Why would Mario pay him to do, what he’s doing for free? Canes love Pate. Welcome here any time.
🙌
Cam Ward's offense with last year's defense. This upcoming season will be PPV.
@JoshPateCFB really been enjoying the coach interviews, are you gonna do one with Dan Lanning. As an Oregon fan I would really like to see it.

will stein time
I hope he coaches only at Miami until he retires
What pic is that Miami “Champions” from?!?
Cotton Bowl i believe last season.
Likely from the Cotton Bowl where Miami defeated the reigning champions Ohio St.
Go canes
I remember when everybody was saying that Mario needs to be fired after year 2. Everybody on hush mouth

He is busy raising funds for bond money
Bro does Josh even lift?
This will be the year where we see if a one off team can gain consistency in the new system, or whether we’ll just see another Indiana pop up somewhere else.
You haven’t been paying attention, last year was the year Indiana showed they can be consistent. This will be year 3 in a row
So are you going to UCF or nah?
For what lol jk

Bold Prediction: The USC vs Notre Dame rivalry is not dead, as a Heisman winning Jayden Maiava leads USC to a win vs Notre Dame in the CFP.
